Hearing the Cry: Feeling Pain, Trusting Hashem How could a deaf man hear a scream from miles away? A powerful Midrash teaches that when Klal Yisrael is truly connected, pain doesn’t need sound to be felt. In this episode, Rabbi Heskiel explores what it means to genuinely feel another Jew’s pain—through the teachings of Reb Yerucham Levovitz and unforgettable stories of the Chafetz Chaim, who lived with the suffering of others as his own. The episode then turns to the Beit HaLevi on bitachon: we do our hishtadlut, but the outcome is never in our hands. Through real-life stories, we’re reminded—pray sincerely, act responsibly, and let Hashem handle the details. A sharp, moving episode about connection, compassion, and true trust in Hashem.

In this powerful Shabbat Zachor message, Rabbi Heskiel dives into the essence of Amalek—who they are, where they come from, and what they truly represent. Tracing Amalek back to Esav through his grandson, we uncover a striking conversation: Amalek is told that the path to success is to humble himself before Klal Yisrael. His refusal—driven by jealousy—becomes the root of an eternal hatred. Amalek could not accept the idea of a chosen nation. This theme continues with the story of Yeravam ben Nevat. Despite being offered an unimaginable opportunity—to walk יחד with Hashem and David HaMelech in Gan Eden—he declines simply because David would go first. A moment of jealousy costs him everything. The message is clear: jealousy doesn’t just cloud judgment—it destroys greatness. The episode then reveals what makes Klal Yisrael unique. After the fall of Haman, the Megillah describes the Jewish people as having orah, simcha, sasson, v’yakar—representing Torah, Yom Tov, Brit Milah, and Tefillin. These are not just mitzvot—they are identity markers. They define who we are and set us apart as Hashem’s chosen nation. Purim—and Shabbat Zachor—remind us not only of our enemies, but of our identity. It’s a time to reconnect with what makes us מיוחד, to reject jealousy, and to embrace the privilege of being part of the chosen people.
