Day 2: Why Resolutions Can Not Work
Apr 25, 2023
10:08
On today’s episode, Charlie clarifies why making resolutions practically guarantees failure. Listen as Charlie quotes a study by Roy Baumeister, a researcher at Florida State University. Roy tested student’s discipline muscle by tempting them with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and radishes- the results were fascinating. Charlie discusses how: -If your brain would have known how to reach the goal, it would have done so already -Creating a resolution forces you to rely heavily on your discipline muscle, but what happens when the discipline is used up? -Setting a resolution forces you to shut down who you really are -Adopting the behaviors of who you want to be is like a ticking time bomb So what are we supposed to do? Part 4: How Our Poor Habits Are Programmed Into Us and How To Change Them
Part 4: How Our Poor Habits Are Programmed Into Us and How To Change Them
Apr 27, 2023
10:24
Today is Day 4 of Mind Hacks to Actually Reach Your Goals, and Charlie continues yesterday’s conversation about why we are the way we are. Our brain is like a computer. It has been practicing specific habits throughout our lifetime (without us even realizing it) until the brain created shortcuts for them, “programming” our knowledge or habits into us until they get easier, and become subconscious. The more you are consistent, repeat the (negative) habit or knowledge, the more your mind gets it and makes it quicker and easier! Charlie discusses: Synaptic pruning- how our brain works is that the more information/behavior is used, the stronger it gets. The less it’s used, it gets weaker and the brain lets it go. 2) Your mind is a computer. But you are not your mind. You are so much bigger than your mind. 3) The things that were hard for you as a child (like brushing teeth) are so second nature to you now- you don’t have to use any of your brain to think about brushing! That’s because of the repetition- the more you did it, the more your brain wired it in and created shortcuts! 4) When you make a resolution, you’re resolving to stop doing something that is SO ingrained in you, like poor marriage habits, poor food choices. These behaviors are so second nature, they are rock solid in your brain. Resolving to stop is nearly impossible. 5)How to start creating new habits using your mind and repetition to your advantage! Title: Part 5: How to Create Rituals to Reach Your Goals with Charlie Harary
May 1, 2023
11:55
Welcome to part 5 of our Mind Hacks Series, where Charlie shares how to begin designing effective rituals to help you achieve your goals. Charlie explains that rituals train the brain to allow the action to become conditioned into your brain so it becomes automatic- so automatic so it takes no energy, and you don’t have to exert discipline to do it. Charlie emphasizes the importance of understanding the cue, which is the most critical piece to understanding habits. He explains that when the cue gets triggered, it automatically cues the next behavior, and the next- it’s all one network. Charlie discusses: -Habits have three components: the cue, the routine, and the reward. -By controlling the trigger, (or the cue,) you can change your life. -How to design effective cues by identifying a structured action you already do all the time and use it as a trigger to the new habit. -How to do the routine next to the thing that will trigger it it because then your brain will start to associate the two. -That many negative behaviors stem from triggers, so it's essential to avoid those triggers. Homework:Make a list of things in your life that are built in structure that can be used as triggers, such as waking up, brushing teeth, making coffee, sitting down at your desk, and pulling into the driveway. Welcome to part 6 of the Mind Hacks to Actually Reach your Goals.
May 2, 2023
10:48
Welcome to part 6 of the Mind Hacks to Actually Reach your Goals. Why aren’t we already where we want to be? Why aren’t we healthier? More giving? Some part of who us is blocking us from that thing. We don’t really believe in the thing we say we want! We fail because we change our hands not our heart-we don’t REALLY want to do it for some reason. Something inside of our brain, in how we perceive ourselves, is holding us back. We haven’t changed our identity. Charlie discusses: -Why we revert to our old ways -Why we must identify the root of who we want to be -Who you really are at a soul level vs. who you’re programmed to be -Do-Have-Be vs. Be-Do-Have -Change can happen in a split second! So how do we figure out who we want to be and how to change our identity? Let’s discuss it next time! Thanks for listening, sharing, tagging, and reviewing! Part 7: Get Real by BEING Instead of DOING
May 3, 2023
11:54
In part 7 of the Mind Hacks Series, Charlie Harary discusses the importance of getting in touch with your true identity in order to create new habits and make lasting changes. He explains that the more connected you are with your soul or essence, the more it drives your brain and motivates you to make positive changes. On the other hand, when you are not in touch with your true self, and focus on the reality around you, your brain tends to play the same old program and resist change. Charlie discusses: -What is needed to make lasting changes and create new habits -Tapping into the essence of who you are -The difference between living your essence and living based on actions -How most people make changes out of guilt instead of from their essence -How to start shutting off the DOING and start BEING Harary suggests a eulogy writing homework exercise to trigger your BEING state and help you get in touch with your true identity and essence. This will allow you to make lasting changes that are driven by your true self. On today’s episode, Charley leads us through a second exercise to help us shut down the survival mode rut we’ve been existing in, and get into the future to figure out who you really are. We generally operate out of the amygdala in the back of the brain, which keeps us in survival mode and always stressed. Today’s exercise takes us into the front of our brain, and our promising future! By articulating where we want to be, our ideal, we will be able to start creating new habits that will get us there. Welcome back to part 9 of Mind Hacks! Now that we’ve -written our eulogy,-written our ideal day,-identified who we want to BE, our identity, It’s time to make our routine!Charlie tells the story of David Brailsford, British cycling coach, who turned a defeated, hopeless team into a gold medal team. How? The Theory of Aggregation of Marginal Gains posits: whatever you’re doing in life, you could do 1% better. And it’s not that hard to do, and doesn’t take much discipline. The aggregate gains are massive. No radical changes. Charlie walks us through exactly how to define the new behavior, how to add it to our cue, and how often to practice. Once you do this tiny 1% behavior time after time connected to the cue, the brain starts to automatically add it.You’re now on your way to hacking your brain to create a new, lasting ritual that supports your goals! For your downloadable workbook, email [email protected] Thanks for listening, sharing, tagging, and reviewing! Show notes for youtube and podcast publishers and torah anytime: Title: Part 10: The Secret Hack to Strong New Habits In part 10 of Mind Hacks, Charlie teaches a huge brain hack that will shortcut your routine building: visualization! Creativity, imagination, and dreaming are seen as children’s play. But when used properly, visualization is the secret to getting the best results. Charlie tells the story of Charlie Wolfson, one of the greatest neurosurgeons in the country, who uses visualization before every surgery. In an instance when the surgery doesn’t go properly, he knows right away, because it differed from how he’d visualized it! Charlie discusses: How visualizing causes new connections in the brain. This is the secret that so many great people use- creating neural connections BEFORE even doing the action! This makes doing it easier, your brain already knows how to do it! How the brain doesn’t know if what we’re imagining is real or not! How to use process visualization to visualize the process before doing it. This helps a)visualize the problems before they come up and figure out solutions b)allow the brain to recognize the action before ever doing it, therefore making it easier to do Charlie guides us through picking our new 1% routines, playing them out in our minds, notice which problems arise, and either adjust the routine or accommodate the problems. That way we can adapt the routine so it actually works! Thanks for listening, sharing, tagging, and reviewing! Share your comments with us on our social platforms- we love hearing your feedback. Part 12, What Keeps Us Motivated? Hacking Our Rewards for Success!
May 16, 2023
10:45
In part 12 of the Mind Hacks Series, Charlie continues the conversation about rewarding ourselves for our new habits in order to keep the motivation strong. He explains that step one is a fast and easy reward, like we discussed in the last episode. But to truly hack your brain, there are two kinds of inspiration that are important to know about: internal and external inspiration. When we combine them, we get the most benefit! Charlie explains: How we are internally motivated by the progress we make. Movement feels good. When we’re making progress inside, it makes us feel good and makes us want to do more. Keeping score and making that check each day is a reward in itself! How social acceptance is such a powerful external motivator. It is such a basic human need, that the lack of social acceptance can cause a fight or flight response! So using the power of social acceptance in the form of an accountability partner who recognizes our progress can make a huge difference in keeping our new routine going. So to get the most out of your reward ritual, give yourself that instant reward, and follow up with measuring your success and texting your accountability partner! What we want is for our brain to cover our new routine with myelin which makes the action quicker and more automatic. We want the cue, routine, and reward to be super quick and easy to do. What will get us going with the routine easily? Finding the right cue! Find a cue you’re already doing Or make a cue that’s super easy and that you don’t mind doing Charlie explains that it is super important to take a moment at the beginning of the routine to visualize the reward. Imagine the feeling of telling your friend you did it, of tasting that smoothie, of having the task checked off… think of the end, what it will feel like when it’s over! Savoring that pleasure up front at the cue stage makes your brain crave the action and want to do the routine! Episode 14: What Triggers Us and How To Change That!
May 18, 2023
10:47
In this episode, Charlie Harary delves into the triggers behind negative habits and provides practical strategies to redefine them. By understanding the components of the habit loop, you can gain insights into how to disrupt unwanted patterns and replace them with positive behaviors. Charlie emphasizes the importance of identifying cues that lead to negative habits. Whether it's stress, boredom, or specific environments, recognizing these triggers is the first step towards making a change. Charlie discusses: Changing the Cue: By modifying the cue or trigger, you can interrupt the habit loop. For example, creating a pre-cue ritual or reframing your mindset before entering a stressful situation can help you respond differently and break the cycle of negative behavior. Deferring the Routine: If you find it challenging to completely eliminate a negative habit, consider deferring the routine. By delaying the action, you give yourself an opportunity to reflect and make a conscious choice. This simple shift can lead to greater self-awareness and gradually weaken the power of the unwanted habit. Rearranging the Environment: Take control of your surroundings by rearranging cues that trigger negative habits. Move tempting items out of sight or create physical barriers to make it more difficult to engage in undesired behaviors. By reshaping your environment, you set yourself up for success and make it easier to choose positive alternatives. Practical takeaways from this episode empower listeners to understand the cues and routines that drive their negative habits. By implementing these strategies, individuals can gradually rewire their brains and cultivate healthier, more positive behaviors. Tune in for a deeper dive into these practical strategies and gain valuable insights on how to redefine your habits for personal growth and transformation. One powerful technique is deferring the cue, allowing you to pause and make a conscious choice instead of succumbing to the habit impulsively. Charlie shares a personal example of identifying a cue that led to unhelpful behaviors during negotiations. By recognizing the trigger, he implemented a simple but effective change of cue: pausing and writing something down instead of reacting emotionally. This shift prevented him from continuing the same pattern and improved his communication in those situations. When it comes to dealing with the routine of a habit, Charlie suggests making it unattractive or more difficult to engage in. For example, applying Vaseline to your nails if you have a habit of biting them or involving others in your habit to make it less enjoyable or private. Additionally, you can adjust the routine by finding alternatives that provide a similar experience without the negative impact. Charlie shares examples such as switching to decaf coffee or chewing nicotine gum instead of smoking. Furthermore, Charlie addresses the aftermath of engaging in a negative habit and the tendency to downplay its impact or shift blame onto others. He advises allowing yourself to feel the guilt or discomfort that arises after engaging in such behavior and not dismissing it. By truly experiencing the negative emotions, you create stronger neural connections that can serve as reminders when faced with similar triggers in the future. This anticipatory awareness helps you make better choices and avoid repeating past mistakes. By implementing these strategies and simultaneously focusing on building positive habits, you can gradually transform your behavior and reduce the influence of negative patterns. This approach involves marginal gains in the positive direction while pruning and reducing the impact of negative habits. As a result, your brain becomes more equipped to make conscious and empowering choices in key moments. Thanks for listening, sharing, tagging, and reviewing! Part 16: It’s Stick Week! What To Do When Motivation is Gone!
Part 16: It’s Stick Week! What To Do When Motivation is Gone!
May 21, 2023
11:14
On today’s episode, Charlie starts putting everything we’ve talked about in the Mind Hacks Series together. Remember the example of radishes and cookies? We learned about ego depletion, how we only have a certain amount of discipline. If we use up our discipline on insignificant things, we’re out of discipline early in the day. For instance, this is why Steve Jobs wears the same thing every day. Jeff Bazos is uninvolved in the small problems and decisions at Amazon because he’s busy with the big direction for the company. Big people don’t get stuck in small problems. Ask yourself if the moments of your life are worth the amount of discipline you’re giving them. Your discipline needs to go to your new ritual. That ritual needs to be repeated over and over to get wired in. So this is where we want to use our discipline muscle, because you know at some point that ritual will stick in your brain and require less discipline, so the return you get on your discipline investment is so worth it. “When we invest our discipline in insignificant things we’re wasting it. When we invest it in ritual building or in bad ritual pruning, it’s the best investment we can make because we know at some point it will become automatic!” What happens when things get hard, when the motivation is gone, and you’re ready to let go of the new ritual? Charlie introduces the concept of stick week! Stick week will help you when: -Discipline is used up -I’m feeling done -My previous brain wiring is so strong making it hard for me to go against it Stick week is the answer! When you don’t want to do it, that’s when your brain is really starting to make new connections and wire it in. So think towards the future and remind yourself it’s going to get easier and imagine what my life will look like with my new routine. If you stick with it, that’s when all the greatness happens! Part 17: How to Create Your New Normal
Part 17: How to Create Your New Normal
May 22, 2023
11:04
On today’s episode, Charlie explains that when you’re making changes in your life, you must take stock of the environment that brought you to where you are in the first place, and make sure to be around people who are doing what you want to be doing. The theory of Mimetic desire by Renee Gerard teaches that human beings create their desires based on what they see in the culture around them. Which means our desires may not even be our own! It might be that what we desire is based on something we see in our society, which all of a sudden we want. All of a sudden we find ourselves needing the thing we may not have even known existed before we saw it! Ie- the world of fashion! Therefore, the environment we put ourselves into is critical! Charlie explains: -The importance of being connected to something which creates an environment in which your new habit is normal, like a workout buddy -The danger of falling back into your old neural connections -Why it might benefit you to make your new habit public Thanks for listening, sharing, tagging, and reviewing! Part 18- Using Our Goals to Create Systems
Part 18- Using Our Goals to Create Systems
May 23, 2023
9:53
Today, Charlie discusses how important systems are to achieving goals rather than relying solely on goals themselves. He emphasizes that goals are exciting and necessary but often fail to produce results. Harary explains that systems are the functional aspects of everyday life, just like how society operates with interconnected systems. Systems provide reliability and allow growth and progress. To avoid falling into the trap of repeating the same goals year after year, we need systems. He notes that successful individuals follow process-oriented routines, waking up at the same time, dedicating specific periods to certain activities, and structuring their lives meticulously. By creating systems for various aspects of life, such as waking up, food preparation, family interactions, and studying, one can establish a new normal that operates automatically. The goal is for these systems to become ingrained in daily life, so they require less conscious effort. This creates space in the mind to dream, set new goals, and aspire to greater achievements. With the foundation of solid systems, individuals can continuously increase their 1%, refine their habits, and pursue deeper levels of growth. While it may sound counterintuitive, structure is critical in fostering creativity and innovation. Charlie shows how true this is for Apple and Tesla! Building systems and processes enables individuals to handle the necessary tasks efficiently and frees up mental energy to pursue new ideas and connections. By programming our lives and establishing effective systems, we can unlock our potential for greatness and continually strive for the next, higher goal and achievement! Part 19, Tapping Into the Power Within
May 24, 2023
11:41
In episode 19 of the Mindhacks Series Podcast, Charlie discusses the power of understanding one's identity and its role in personal growth and transformation. He emphasizes that true change begins with recognizing that one's identity extends beyond the limitations of the brain and is rooted in the soul, which is connected to the infinite. By embracing this perspective,we can tap into our potential and live a life aligned with our true essence. Charlie helps us: Reflect on the emotional charge behind our desires and motivations for change. Recognize that our true identity extends beyond the limitations of the brain and resides in the soul. Embrace the understanding that our soul is connected to the infinite and manifests desires and qualities such as kindness, generosity, and growth. Understand that personal growth may feel hypocritical as we adapt to new ways of thinking and behaving, but it signifies progress and evolution. Focus on identifying with our soul and its desires, allowing our mind to adapt and create systems that support our growth. Embrace the journey of constant revelation and transformation, understanding that who we were yesterday is irrelevant in the face of our decision to be the best version of ourselves now. By recognizing that our true essence resides in the soul and is connected to the infinite, we can overcome the limitations of our brains and tap into our potential for greatness. As we align our identity with our soul and adapt our thoughts and behaviors, we unlock the constant revelations of our spiritual greatness and manifest our deepest desires. Let go of the past, embrace your true identity, and live a life that reflects your highest potential. Thanks for listening, sharing, tagging, and reviewing! Welcome to episode 20 of Charlie Harary's Mindhacks Series Podcast. Congratulations on making it this far! If you want to continue the conversation or need additional resources, visit charlieharary.com or email [email protected]. Charlie helps us: Take action now: It is so important to start immediately rather than waiting for the perfect moment. Get started on your goals, even if the circumstances aren't ideal. Waiting for perfection only delays progress. Practice and persevere: Charlie compares personal growth to practicing a skill or exercise. Keep swinging, keep trying, and keep practicing. It may not come naturally at first, but with consistent effort, it will become easier over time. Break it down: When facing long-standing challenges, identify the cues or triggers that keep you stuck in unproductive routines. Break down the problem into smaller, manageable steps, and focus on addressing the cues to create lasting change. Embrace the journey: Understand that change takes time and don't expect instant results. Embrace the process of practice, failure, and getting back up. Building new habits and routines requires patience and persistence. Be grateful: Charlie reminds us that the opportunity to change and grow is a gift. Appreciate the ability to improve your life and be grateful for having a brain and soul capable of making positive transformations. As you continue on your personal growth journey, remember to stay happy and enjoy the process. Change is a gift, and you have the ability to make your life greater with each step forward. Embrace the power of taking action now, practice consistently, break down challenges, and cultivate gratitude. Connect the dots, persevere, and build habits that lead to positive change. Charlie Harary looks forward to hearing from you and encourages you to keep rolling towards your goals. Thank you for your time and dedication to unlocking your full potential. Join Charlie Harary in this engaging episode as he shares valuable insights on effective learning strategies and how to dive deep into new subjects. Whether you're exploring Judaism, investing, or any other area of interest, Charlie offers practical advice to make the learning process more manageable and meaningful. Charlie begins by addressing the common challenge of quickly losing interest in new subjects. He emphasizes the importance of going beyond surface-level knowledge and suggests a solution: diving one inch deeper than you initially planned. By striving to understand a topic at a level where you can teach it, you gain a deeper comprehension and retain information more effectively. Drawing inspiration from Richard Feynman, the renowned physicist and educator, Charlie encourages listeners to imagine themselves teaching the subject matter as a way to gauge their understanding. This approach helps solidify knowledge and ensures a comprehensive grasp of the material. Charlie advises setting clear boundaries around the subject you wish to learn. For instance, if you're interested in investing, define the specific area or type of investment you want to focus on. By narrowing the scope, you can avoid getting overwhelmed by an expansive field and concentrate on acquiring expertise in a defined domain. Whether you're a lifelong learner or starting a new journey, Charlie's practical tips provide a roadmap for effective learning. Rosh Hashanah's Unique Joy: A Tale of Unexpected Mercy
Rosh Hashanah's Unique Joy: A Tale of Unexpected Mercy
Sep 12, 2023
10:57
In this episode, Charlie delves into the intriguing concept of Rosh Hashanah, a holiday marked by joy and reflection, even in the face of judgment. The rabbis teach that on this day, happiness should prevail, and sorrow should be set aside, a notion that might seem paradoxical considering the seriousness of the occasion. The episode begins with a fascinating story about two strangers who become fast friends during law school. John and David, from different backgrounds, forged a close bond that seemed unbreakable. However, as life went on, they drifted apart. Fast forward 20 years, and their paths unexpectedly cross again, leading to a twist of fate that none could have predicted. The story takes a thrilling turn when David, facing a dire predicament involving a series of traffic violations, fears the worst. He recounts a nerve-racking courtroom scene where his future hangs in the balance, and an unexpected savior emerges from his past. The host draws a profound parallel between David's courtroom experience and the essence of Rosh Hashanah. It's a day of solemn reflection and self-assessment, where our deeds are scrutinized. However, it's also a day to rejoice, for the Judge is none other than the One who loves us unconditionally. The episode explores the idea that, just as David found unexpected mercy in an old friend, Rosh Hashanah reminds us that our Judge is a loving and benevolent Creator. It's a day to trust in His boundless love and to strive for a year of personal growth. Join us in this thought-provoking episode as we unravel the paradox of Rosh Hashanah – a day of judgment and joy, where faith and reflection intertwine to create a unique spiritual experience. Rosh Hashanah: Turning Life's Gifts into Blessings
Rosh Hashanah: Turning Life's Gifts into Blessings
Sep 13, 2023
6:41
Rosh Hashanah, the Day of Judgment, is arguably the most significant day of the Jewish calendar. It's a day when your entire year, your destiny, hangs in the balance, and the heavenly court assesses your deeds. The seriousness of this day is akin to preparing for a major trial, especially for those familiar with courtroom procedures. In this episode, we explore the intriguing customs associated with Rosh Hashanah, particularly the tradition of consuming symbolic foods before the formal prayers begin. It may seem peculiar at first, similar to wordplay or a game, but there's a deeper meaning to this practice. Charlie shares a beautiful insight that reframes our understanding of these symbolic foods, known as 'simonim.' These foods are not mere word games or puns; they are triggers for blessings and prayers. They represent a proactive approach to co-creating one's future. Instead of passively waiting for divine judgment, Rosh Hashanah encourages us to take an active role in shaping our destinies. As the episode unfolds, we discover that these simonim serve as reminders of our ability to transform life's experiences into blessings. By connecting everyday items like dates, pomegranates, honey, and other foods to specific prayers and intentions, we elevate our perspective on life. We learn to respond positively to challenges, hoping for the best, and praying for the best outcomes. This practice reflects the idea that part of our judgment is based on how we react to the gifts and challenges that life presents. By using these symbolic foods as tools for introspection and blessings, we signify our commitment to making the most of what we have been given. Join us in this enlightening episode as we explore the profound concept of simonim on Rosh Hashanah, reminding us to actively participate in shaping our future, not just through prayer, but through the transformation of everyday experiences into blessings and positivity. Discovering our purpose in life
Discovering our purpose in life

With everything going on in the world, we find ourselves asking “why are we alive? What is our purpose?” There is a common and beautiful question we can ask ourselves to help us discover our purpose: How do I use what I have (resources, knowledge, challenges) to help other people? But most people are so busy looking for a huge cosmic, macro “life project,” when most probably your purpose is right in front of you. So today, look at your life and ask yourself, where are you needed? Who in your life really needs you? Your child? Your spouse? Is there a mitzvah in front of you? A person? Don’t look for a big important job. Look at what’s in front of you today, and how you can take care of that with the most energy, enthusiasm, and holiness! That’s how you find your purpose! Today, Charlie begins to explain how we can tap into the higher ways of reacting like giving, resilience, sacrifice, courage, by beginning to understand how challenge affects us physically. What it does to our body. How our brain reacts. How survival mode affects us without us even thinking about it. Welcome to our new series!
Welcome to our new series!
Dec 5, 2024

We are all living two lives—one in the world everyone sees, and another in your mind. In this debut episode of our new series on The Daily Boost, Charlie Harary dives into the secret battle between our outer reality and our inner world, revealing how jealousy, lust, and the pursuit of honor can pull us away from true fulfillment. The Two Worlds We Live In: There's the external world of actions and interactions, and the internal world of thoughts and emotions. True joy and strength come from mastering the inner world. The Danger of Disconnection: You can have everything externally—success, relationships, material comfort—but still feel disconnected or unfulfilled if your inner world is out of balance. How To Live A Better Life Did you know your greatest obstacles aren’t out there—they’re within? In today’s episode of The Daily Boost, we dive deep into the invisible battle between your inner and outer worlds, and why mastering the inner world is the secret to living with purpose, control, and joy. Main Takeaways: The Inner and Outer Worlds: Your outer world is the 'game' you’re playing, but your inner world—the 'controller'—determines how you play. Learn to separate the two to live intentionally. Triggers and Reactions: Everyday moments, like a comment or a passing thought, can hijack your focus and mood. Awareness is the first step to reclaiming your control. Inner Work Matters: Success in the outer world starts with refining your inner world—your thoughts, feelings, and reactions. Character traits like jealousy and pride can derail you, but they’re fixable with effort. Homework for Growth: Today’s action item: Simply notice when your inner world is affecting your outer actions. Label the difference to start building clarity and control. Visualize the Game: Picture life as a video game—your outer world is the screen, and your inner world is the controller. How you manage the controller shapes the entire experience. This episode is a wake-up call for anyone feeling stuck, reactive, or out of balance. It’s not about changing the outside world—it’s about shifting how you see and respond to it. By tuning in, you’ll learn to start mastering your inner life, the true foundation for better relationships, deeper spirituality, and lasting success. Don’t roll the dice with your life. What drives you—truly? Most of us move through life chasing goals without ever asking why. In today’s episode of The Daily Boost, Charlie Harary invites you to uncover the hidden motivations behind your actions. Learn how asking the right questions can unlock deeper awareness, joy, and fulfillment The Transformative Power of Questions: Asking “Why am I doing this?” creates self-awareness and opens your mind to a deeper understanding of your goals and behaviors. The value lies in the questioning, not necessarily the answers. The Journey Over the Destination: True joy is found in striving and growing, not merely in reaching the goal. The process of self-discovery is the reward. Understanding Mimetic Desires: Much of what we pursue isn’t innate but imitated from our environment. Recognizing this can free us from chasing what doesn’t truly satisfy. Ep 10. The Regret of Living Your Life for Society Approval
Dec 26, 2024
8:11
Are you making choices based on what’s important to you, or are you caught up in what others expect? In this episode, Charlie unpacks the subtle ways we lose sight of our own priorities—chasing external validation, comparing ourselves to others, or following paths that don’t align with who we are. Charlie explores how to focus on what truly matters. He offers practical insights to help you avoid the regret of looking back and realizing you spent too much time living someone else’s life. Key Takeaways: Your life has its own mission. Stay focused on what’s meaningful to you, not someone else’s version of success. Comparison distracts. The more we focus on others, the harder it is to stay aligned with our own purpose. What you prioritize shapes your life. It’s not about doing everything but about doing the right things well. Regret comes from misalignment. Reflecting on your values now can help you avoid looking back with “what ifs.” Your life reflects what you prioritize. The earlier you focus on what really matters, the more fulfilling your life will be. Think about one area in your life where you’re prioritizing someone else’s expectations over your own values. Ep 14. Secular Way of Thinking
Jan 1, 2025
8:58
What if the way we see the world isn’t the way it’s meant to be? In this episode, Charlie uncovers how secular thinking shapes our lives without us even noticing, and explores what it means to shift the center of our universe—unlocking a life of deeper purpose and connection. The Secular Trap: Western culture says you’re the center. Judaism says something greater is. This shift changes everything—how you see yourself, your challenges, and your potential. Redefining Success: Competing to 'win' isn’t the goal. Truthfully, competing isn’t a Jewish theme! Real growth comes from aligning with values that are bigger than you. This episode pulls back the curtain on the subtle ways secular culture impacts our mindset and actions and gives us a look into why our values are what they are. If you’re looking for a way to live with more clarity, meaning, and alignment, this conversation will challenge and inspire you.Ask yourself today: Who’s at the center of my life? Is it all about me, or am I living for something higher? Take one decision or habit and consider how it could look different if you put a higher purpose at the center instead of yourself. Episode 1: The Seder. A Missed Opportunity
Apr 2, 2025
13:29
So many of us approach Pesach with excitement, preparation—and confusion. We know the story. We show up with Haggadahs, matzah, and singing kids, and still… something feels missing. The Seder, one of the most widely observed rituals in Judaism, is also one of the most misunderstood. It’s rich with tradition and potential, yet too often we go through the motions, missing the spiritual treasure hidden in plain sight. In this powerful 30-part series, Charlie Harary guides us through each step of the Seder with depth, clarity, and inspiration—revealing how this night isn’t just about remembering a past redemption, but experiencing personal freedom today. Drawing from Torah, Chazal, and the teachings of great tzadikim, Charlie reframes the Seder as an opportunity to transform ourselves and our families. He uncovers the brilliance behind every nuance—from leaning and dipping to the words of Maggid and the mystery of Dayenu—showing how the night is designed not to retell facts but to immerse us in a living narrative that can awaken our emunah, connect us to Hashem, and elevate our entire year. Whether you’ve led Sedarim for decades or are preparing for your first one, this series will help you tap into the magic of Pesach night and finally experience the Seder for what it truly is: a gateway to freedom, faith, and divine connection.
