Yossele Rosenblatt's "Tal" Duet by Cantors Yossi Pomorantz and Aryeh Leib Hurwitz Yossele Rosenblatt's "Tal" Duet by Cantors Yossi Pomorantz and Aryeh Leib Hurwitz

April 3, 2019 Pre Pesach Chazzonus Kumzitz concert, at the West Side Institutional Synagogue, hosted by Cantor Zevy Muller of the WSIS accompanied by Cantor Daniel Gildar on the piano. It's that time of year. Pesach is around the corner, one of the many things on my mind is Tal. Yup, more so than cooking, cleaning, traveling! So many beautiful compositions, beautiful pieces. One specific tune that comes to mind is Yossele Rosenblatt's Tal. Gorgeous piece. We sang it many, many years ago. As a duet. Actually, just 4 years ago. But it feels like forever ago. So much has happened to the world since 2019. A deadly pandemic, Vaccines, Elections, Ukraine, Markets crashed, Inflation, Kobe died and much much more. Of the many things, Danny Gildar who was a beloved accompanist for cantorial music and beloved voice and music teacher, had passed away. I also moved to Florida in the time and while I'm singing more now than ever, thank you Hashem! I don't get to sing Chazonus as much as I used to. Here leading up to pesach I started watching this 7:04 minute long clip from 2019, Rosenblatt's Tal that I had the honor to sing with Yossi Pomerantz, it's been a few years, but I just listened to all of it. It's actually extremely difficult navigating through, I have no idea how we did it. Singing that and getting your parts right is excruciating. All the thanks to the fact that Chazzan Pomorantz was the musical director of this piece and guided me along as we went. The rehearsals helped too of course! But the accompaniment of Cantor Danny Gildar was the clincher, really, really helped us get through this melodic, difficult duet. With this in mind, I want to get back into the Cantorial realm, cantorial music, here in Boca Raton. Who's with me? Let's make it happen. Let's start with a cantorial only concert? Where are my locals at! In the meantime, enjoy I just uploaded the Tal to my YouTube channel, give it a listen, a like, a follow!
