I travelled back to Soncino, Italy, in 1484 to see how a page of Gemara went from individual pieces of movable type to a finished printed sefer. Before modern printers, every letter had to be arranged by hand, inked, pressed onto paper, and left to dry. The Soncino family became pioneers of Hebrew printing, helping transform how Jewish texts could be produced and spread.
