"Sefer Bereishis" is a captivating collection of Parshiyot that tells the incredible stories of our ancestors and the valuable lessons we can learn from their actions and sacrifices. The final chapters of this sefer feature the lengthy and engaging story of Yosef Hatzadik and the other tribes. This story, which is over 4,000 years old, reads like a modern suspense novel, with betrayal, deceit, and a dramatic reveal that children eagerly anticipate hearing from their rebbes and teachers each year.
Yosef, orphaned from his mother and favored by his father, faced jealousy from his siblings, was bullied for being a dreamer, and was ultimately exiled, sold, enslaved, and imprisoned. But out of all of this suffering, he rose above these challenges and ultimately attained the titles of both "Yosef HaMelech" and "Yosef HaTzaddik".
Despite the passage of thousands of years, we still haven't learned from our forefathers. We crumble and falter at any perceived threat or confrontation, and hold onto grudges that hurt generations. Why is this? My latest album, "Korban," addresses these important topics in the final masterpiece, "Od Yosef Chai" ("Yosef is alive").
I could write a book about the number of stories and messages and lives impacted by this single song. It has led to parents and children reconciling, rebbes connecting with their talmidim, people reconnecting with Hashem and the Torah, and kids getting back on track. The calls keep coming. If ever there was a song that needed a proper music video, it is "Od Yosef Chai." It addresses the timeless issue of bullying and being bullied, and the strength needed to overcome it.
To bring this monumental task to fruition, we brought together the right group of people. Pinchas Bichler of the legendary Malchus Choir contributed his script-writing skills, and Michael Tzi lent his expertise as a cinematographer. Hershy Segal produced the video, and the beauty of Eretz Yisroel served as the backdrop. The result is sure to leave you breathless.
