This has been quite a journey, but one I feel so privileged to go on. The birth and production of this song is steeped in meaning for me. I have had quite a long break from singing, which is hard to believe now as I cannot imagine life without it. But circumstances change and continue to evolve. Hashem put singing back in my life at the beginning of lockdown after the obvious strain plus a cancer diagnosis given to my mum which pushed me forwards to ask myself, ‘Am I going to drown in overwhelming feelings or fight back and find meaning?’ With the help of my husband, singing and song writing became my natural ‘go- to’ to empower, rise above and hopefully inspire others. This song is about the blessing a parent gives to their child every Friday night. It is my heart and soul on a plate. Drenched in my innermost emotions and expression, this song represents so many of my loves- music, family and connection to our Creator. It is about how a blessing that is spoken into the world time after time is hardly something we do just by rote. Rather, it is the chain that links our generations together and hold us tight, enveloping us in an embrace that spans the generations gone before us and that we see in front of us. It possesses love, blessings and a plea for peace to be bestowed upon our children as they go out into the world. To say this prayer and internalise its meaning is to imbue our children with the highest protection and safeguarding from on High. I chose to recognise Chai cancer care for the incredible work they do and for personally being there for my family. I hope this song brings you much meaning and inspires happiness and pride every time you connect with this prayer. Thank you to all who made this happen.
