Moshe Yess, a highly regarded Jewish American artist known for his contributions to Jewish music, was born on April 18, 1945, in Moncton, New Brunswick. In the early 1970s, he co-founded The Megama Duo alongside his partner Shalom Levine. Together they pioneered the now popular genre of Jewish music sung in English in an American style. They skillfully blended folk, rock, and English Jewish content, captivating audiences with their unique sound, charm, humor and witty lyrics. Recognized for their meaningful messages, Moshe Yess and The Megama Duo released several albums, including their critically acclaimed debut album "Megama." Well-known songs such as "My Zaidy," "Beggar Woman" and countless more. Moshe Yess actively collaborated with various Jewish music artists including Jewish music icon Abie Rotenberg. Together, they co-produced the Marvelous Middos Machine franchise. Moshe also went on to produce other Jewish children's educational series such as "The Amazing Torah Bike" and "Roburg". Moshe Yess played a vital role in the iconic Journeys Albums from Abie Rotenberg with appearances on the first three albums. Moshe spent his career promoting Jewish morals, values and culture both domestically and internationally working very closely with Kiruv organizations and with his secular background and virtuosity in many secular styles of music and his command of the English language, he was highly involved in Jewish outreach in America. Sadly, Moshe Yess passed away on January 8, 2011, in Tucson, Arizona. His untimely death left behind a lasting legacy in Jewish music. Even today, his music continues to inspire and resonate with listeners worldwide, celebrating Jewish identity and spreading messages of love and unity. Today his music legacy still lives on through his son Tali Yess, who has taken the torch from his father to keep that fire burning.
