And when one learns Torah for one hour with such vitality and enthusiasm that would take someone else twenty-four hours to achieve the same thing – that is a “long day.”) And if one argues: we live in a democracy where coercion is forbidden etc. –the answer is that we are all like people on one ship. One cannot say that since he paid for his cabin he is free to drill a hole in it cabin because he paid for his ticket so he can do whatever he wants. Not only must he not drill a hole in the ship; rather, he must also “compel all the Jewish people,” in pleasant ways and peaceful ways, to keep the ship intact by keeping Torah and mitzvos, as the verse states, “If you walk in My statutes…I will grant peace in the land, etc.,” and “I will lead you upright” to greet Moshiach Tzidkeinu.
