Dr. Kobernick is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Founder and Director of The CBT/DBT Center. She received her doctorate at Long Island University – Post Campus where she studied under Dr. Jill Rathus, co-developer of DBT for adolescents. She completed training at New York Presbyterian Hospital’s personality disorders unit where she provided individual and group Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and participated in case consultation with Otto Kernberg, M.D. She then provided Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and comprehensive DBT at Northwell Health’s Behavioral Health College Partnership. Upon completing her training at Northwell Health, she recognized the need for trauma-focused training for her DBT clients who completed stage 1 DBT. At Rutgers University’s college counseling program, she focused her training on evidence-based trauma treatments including Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).Dr. Kobernick has advanced training in DBT and specialized training in adaptations of DBT for adolescents and children. She has been supervised by Francheska Perepletchikova, PhD, developer of DBT for children (DBT-C), and is a trainer for DBT-C. While Dr. Kobernick enjoys practicing DBT, she is trained in other evidence-based modalities and is passionate about training and supervising other clinicians in her hopes to disseminate these modalities within the Orthodox Jewish community. She has also received specialized training in suicide prevention, evidence-based approaches in addiction treatment, CBT for insomnia, Motivational Interviewing, Psychological First Aid, Teaching and Supervising CBT from the Beck Institute, Behavioral Parent Management Training, Trauma Art Narrative Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT for children. She has co-led therapy groups on CBT for social anxiety and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for people with repeated episodes of depression.Dr. Kobernick’s research interests include implementation and dissemination of evidence-based treatments within the Orthodox Jewish community, suicidality and nonsuicidal self-injury, and education and training in health service psychology. Devorah Levinson is a Referral Specialist and the Director of Eating Disorders Division at Relief Resources; a free mental health referral service that caters to the needs of the Orthodox Jewish community. Devorah has a strong background in communal work in both the United States and abroad. Her role at Relief is to provide mental health referrals and information to families and patients and she serves as a conduit to appropriate and effective care. Her work consists of researching new clinicians, facilities, and treatment options as well as promoting cultural sensitivity to clinicians who have little or no experience with Orthodox Jewish patients. She has presented on the topics of mental health and eating disorders in the Jewish community at schools and hospitals in the tri-state area. Mark J. Mulligan, MD, is the director of the Division of Infectious Diseases & Immunology in the Department of Medicine, and director of the NYU Langone Vaccine Center. He conducts vaccine clinical trials and clinical studies of emerging infections. He has studied HIV, Zika, Ebola, bird flu, 2009 pandemic influenza, and other infections with public health impact. He is now studying the novel coronavirus. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (cum laude, 1980), University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas (1984). During infectious diseases training (UAB, 1987-90) he did post-doctoral molecular virology training with Dr. Richard Compans, a renowned virologist. Dr. Mulligan served as lead investigator for an NIH-funded HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Unit, conducting AIDS and TB research in Atlanta, Kenya, the Philippines, and Thailand (2006-2018). He also served as the principal investigator for an NIH-funded Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit (VTEU), 2007-18. This was one of nine national units funded by NIH to conduct clinical research on medical countermeasures (such as vaccines, treatments, diagnostics, biomarkers) to combat infectious disease threats to human health.

Michelle Conti, PsyD received her doctorate at LIU Post’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program where she focused her work with children and families. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship specializing in Child Clinical Psychology and Developmental Disabilities at Westchester Institute for Human Development. Dr. Conti completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Early Childhood Center at Einstein where she was trained in parent-child therapy and early childhood development. Dr. Conti has trained in a range of clinical settings including schools, inpatient psychiatric units, UCEDDs, and outpatient clinics. Her goal was to experience the full range of development, from early childhood to emerging adulthood. Dr. Conti’s work with children, adolescents, families, and young adults centers on cognitive-behavior therapy techniques as well as a family-systems-based collaborative approach in order to increase positive family interactions and improve daily functioning. She has a private clinical practice in Oceanside where she offers individual, family and group psychotherapy.

Avishai T Neuman, MD, MSc, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and Sackler alumus of the class of 2006. Currently Dr. Neuman is the Medical Director of Centurion Anesthesia – an anesthesia group that provides services to over 100 ambulatory and office based practices in 10 states, primarily in NY, NJ and Florida. Additionally, Dr. Neuman has been an attending on staff at New York Presbyterian Queens since 2010 and is also on staff at NYU Langone Medical Center. He served as the Director of Anesthesiology at Peninsula Hospital center in Far Rockaway and as the medical director at a number of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) in the New York Metro area. Dr. Neuman completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center. Following his intern year, he was awarded the prestigious Nursing Partnership Award for his work and involvement in restructuring the Hospital Code team. He continued his residency in Anesthesiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Throughout his medical training Dr. Neuman has been involved in research and has been published in the prestigious Journals of Anesthesia & Analgesia and the British Journal of Anesthesia. Dr. Maureen Nemetski is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Attending Physician at Hackensack University Medical Center - Joseph M Sanzari Children’s Hospital, and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. She obtained her MD/PhD from New York University School of Medicine, and completed a Pediatrics Residency at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. In 2019, she joined JOWMA as the first chair of the Preventative Health Committee and launched our vaccination hotline and preventative health podcasts. She stepped down from her role as the JOWMA Preventative Health Committee Chair in May 2020, in order to devote her energies to the medical advisory committees of Yeshivat Frisch and Ben Porat Yosef, and the New Jersey Yeshiva Joint Medical Committee as it worked with Jewish day and high schools in and around Bergen County to reopen - and stay open - safely during this pandemic.
