Dr. Esther Fogel, a clinical audiologist, is the owner and director of Comprehensive Audiology. She received a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of North Texas and a Doctorate in Audiology from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She completed her residency in Audiology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center’s Hearing and Speech Center. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association. Dr. Seymour Huberfeld is a graduate of Yeshiva University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate training at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and was Chief Medical Resident from 1991-1992. This was followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at LIJ. Dr. Huberfeld has a particular focus on sleep disorders and has promoted the use of home sleep testing to facilitate the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Dr. Huberfeld, his wife Lori, and their children live in Lawrence, New York and are active members of their local synagogue organizations. Dr. Jensen is the Board Chair of the REACH Institute, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization he founded in 2006. From 1999-2009 he served at the National Institute of Mental Health as the Associate Director for Child Adolescent Mental Health Research. He then moved to Columbia University to assume an endowed professorship in the Department of Psychiatry, where he directed the Center for the Advancement of Children’s Mental Health. Leaving New York in 2009 he joined Mayo Clinic’s Department of Psychiatry Psychology to lead the Division of Child Psychiatry Psychology, eventually becoming the Vice-Chair of the Department (Research). In 2014 he was appointed Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, moving to Adjunct Professor in 2018. Dr. Jensen was the lead NIMH investigator on the Multimodal Treatment of ADHD study (MTA) and served on other multi-site NIMH national studies. He has held many national offices, including President of the International Society for Research on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, Secretary and Council Member (American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry), and as member of CHADD’s Board and Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Jensen has authored/edited over 300 peer reviewed articles and chapters and 20 books. He has received many awards for research and teaching from multiple national organizations, including the Hall of Fame award from CHADD, the American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry, the Society for Child Psychiatric Nursing, and NAMI.

Christy Huff, MD, is a cardiologist and director of Benzodiazepine Information Coalition, a nonprofit that educates about the adverse effects of prescribed benzodiazepines. Dr. Huff attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern where she graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed an internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis and a cardiology fellowship at U.T. Southwestern, with a focus in advanced cardiovascular imaging and noninvasive cardiology. Dr. Huff is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and was a private practice cardiologist in Fort Worth,Texas until 2011, when she became a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her daughter. Dr. Huff speaks and writes frequently about her lived experience with benzodiazepines. In 2015, she experienced adverse effects after three weeks of prescribed Xanax for insomnia. Over a three-year period, she slowly tapered off benzodiazepines utilizing Valium, and suffered protracted and disabling symptoms. Her personal experience led her to realize the serious risks of these medications and the potential severity of benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome, neither of which were emphasized during her medical training. Dr. Huff specifically advocates for better education of physicians regarding the adverse effects of benzodiazepines and how to safely taper patients off these medications. Her research interests include patient-centered benzodiazepine deprescribing and benzodiazepine-induced neurological dysfunction (BIND). In addition to her work at BIC, Dr. Huff is a member of the Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse’s Benzodiazepine Action Work Group.

She attended Mount Sinai Medical School, where she earned her medical degree and a PhD in neuroscience. She then completed a residency in child neurology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and a fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology at NYU. Dr. Rachel Berman is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After earning her BA in Social Anthropology at Harvard University in 2004, Dr. Berman attended Boston University's School of Medicine and School of Public Health, earning her MD and Masters of Public Health degrees in 2010. She completed her pediatric residency at the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics in 2013, followed by a residency in Preventive Medicine at Boston Medical Center in 2015. Dr. Berman practices general pediatrics, and she serves as her clinic’s clinician champion for social needs screening and referrals. In this role, she has also had the opportunity to be involved in a multisite research study of biomarkers of stress and resilience in children through the Harvard Center for the Developing Child. Dr. Berman teaches residents and medical students, and through a grant from the American Medical Association’s Reimagining Residency Initiative, she has been working to develop a curriculum on social and structural determinants of health for residents in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Most recently, she is participating in the 2022-2023 United Hospital Fund’s PEDS Network Fellowship Program, which provides early career pediatricians with mentorship and support for projects that aim to improve health equity for young children and families. Marion Nestle is Paulette Goddard Professor of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health, Emerita, at New York University, in the department she chaired from 1988-2003 and from which she retired in September 2017. She holds honorary degrees from Transylvania University in Kentucky and the Macaulay Honors College of the City University of New York. Naamit Kurshan Gerber, MD is an associate professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perlmutter Cancer Center of the NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Gerber received her AB in the history of science from Harvard College and her M.D. from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her training in radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Gerber specializes in the treatment of breast cancer and lymphoma. In addition to her clinical practice, she is actively engaged in research that focuses on improving outcomes for women with early stage breast cancer. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Gerber is a member of the NRG Breast local regional committee and serves on the breast scientific program committee for ASCO and the breast education committee for ASTRO. She is a senior editor for breast cancer at PRO where she also serves as the editor of the Morbidity and Mortality Column. Dr. Gerber serves as the program director of the NYU Radiation Oncology Residency Program residency program. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a two-time winner of the ARRO Educator of the Year Award and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics Outstanding Reviewer Award.

Dr. Forta’s doctoral research focused on community healthcare stakeholders descriptions of religious and environmental risk factors unique to the Jewish orthodox adolescent female community. Community healthcare stakeholders include rabbis, teachers, principals, mental and physical health professionals. Her research was conducted over a period of several years and focused on the U.S. Midwest region. There is long established evidence supporting prevention programs and their impact, this being the impetus to create Atzmi as the evidence suggests that their efficacy is vastly improved when tailored to specific demographics. Her research forms the basis of the eating disorder awareness, education, and prevention programs designed for this community. Dr. Forta lives in Oak Park, Michigan. #SameHere: Revolutionizing Mental Health with Eric Kussin

We’re All A Little “Crazy” is a 501c3 founded by 15-year professional sports executive, Eric Kussin, bringing together Athletes, Celebrities, and Expert Practitioners. After a successful career that started at the NBA League Office, and led to senior management positions with a number of professional sports teams, Eric’s mental health took a sudden and rapid decline. Due to unresolved personal life traumas he failed to appropriately address at a younger age – life experiences he was unaware were affecting his mental health – Eric developed a severe bout of PTSD, along with symptoms of anxiety and depression. This fall came essentially “out of nowhere” and left him almost permanently in bed, and with severe cognitive impairment, for just over two and a half years. Once he found a way to climb out of his abyss, he vowed to spend the rest of his life focused on changing the global conversation through mental health advocacy. It wasn’t until he met practitioners who taught him methods to actually heal his body and central nervous system, that he began to improve and get his life back. He is determined to spread his message: that EVERYONE in the world is affected by life’s inevitable traumas and stresses. We can’t escape them, as they are part of the human experience and they impact us on many levels. Mental health exists on a continuum, with some simply experiencing more severe declines than others over varying periods of time in their lives (and/or being more genetically predisposed to such declines). Because of this, his view is that we should all be open and accepting of those who need help, because we’re one community in this “crazy” world, all fighting our own unique, but often similar, battles. This led to a prestigious Sabbatical Fellowship from the MacArthur Foundation to study the determinants of health-promoting and health-damaging behaviors alongside many leading behavioral clinicians across the nation. In 1990, Dr. Rozanski joined the cardiology staff of St. Lukes/Roosevelt Hospital (now Mount Sinai St. Lukes and Mount Sinai West Hospitals) where he eventually served as Chief of Cardiology before assuming his current positions. Dr. Rozanski is noted for his unique clinical and academic focus and novel research that uniquely integrates the fields of Preventive Cardiology with Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine. In addition, Dr. Rozanski is a leading expert in applying Cardiac Imaging for optimal Risk Assessment and Clinical Decision Making among patients who are candidates for cardiac testing due to risk factors or symptoms which are suggesting of heart disease. But everything changed in July of 2022, when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer that had already spread to her liver, lungs, and lymph nodes. Doctors told her she had just 6 to 9 months to live. Her immediate response captured her spirit: “Oh no, that won’t work—I already paid for a race 10 months away.” In that moment, Orly became a cancer patient, but she refused to let the disease define her. She continues to undergo treatment, including chemotherapy and occasional radiation—always with grit, humor, and resilience. While some days are harder than others, Orly is determined not to let cancer become her entire identity. She remains deeply committed to spreading awareness about the power of movement and exercise, particularly in the frum community, where these conversations can sometimes be overlooked. Orly is currently training for a 10K in November to raise awareness for colon cancer, and a half marathon in January. Dr. Treyster completed her undergraduate and medical school training at George Washington University, her pediatric residency at New York-Presbyterian Columbia, and her fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at Hofstra Northwell. Prior to joining Uptown Pediatrics, Dr. Treyster was a faculty member at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore where she served as Associate Medical Director of the Pediatric Asthma Center for three years. Dr. Treyster has expertise in treating asthma, environmental allergies, food and drug allergies, eczema, immunodeficiency, and autoinflammatory disorders. Aliza Eisenstein is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN), licensed in the US and Israel, with close to 25 years of experience in health & nutrition. Aliza taught at Stern College before making aliyah in 2004. She managed the Special Diets department at the HASC Summer Program for 8 years. Aliza currently works in private practice, seeing clients virtually and in person. She recently developed a program combining her experience in the nutrition field with the increasingly popular coaching model to help women and girls eat right and feel good without the struggles of dieting.
