So many people hear and see the word SALES as a dirty word Automatically associating it with a sleazy, salesy, used car Salesman They are not wrong!! Sales has fallen away from what it's truly meant to be Into a transactional, selfish, and commission based interaction Where salespeople are more concerned with what they have to say than you But sales is NOT meant to be that way It is meant to be about... Empathy, and being human Actually caring about the other person, and actively listening to what they have to say Being of service to the other, even if you take yourself out of the picture Being intentional in your interactions, and having genuine curiosity Being present and in the moment, with them being your only thought Sales is also not just a part of business, it is a part of everyday life I'll prove it to you My 4 yr old daughter, A, asks me all the time if she can take her little brother to playgroup first before I take her Most of the time, unless I am driving (I usually walk) it is too hard The reason is, that she complains about her feet hurting the whole way to her place Remember that for later Today I gave in We took her brother, and on the way home we stopped at the pharmacy We had to wait our turn, and while we did, A and I interacted She was looking around at the different things and we were speaking about them While standing at the register I had her in fits of laughter, while pretending her neck was the credit card swiper to pay We left, and I decided to stop at the bakery to pick up some rolls I knew my wife would want to pick up later As well as one or 2 things for the Mrs., and a cheese danish for me While there she says "Can I have a chocolate rugelach?" I think she didn't see me buy it for her, but I gave it to her once we stepped out of the store She was so happy and she practically skipped her way to playgroup On the way, I tell her that I am so happy she behaved so nicely To which she says lol "See I didn't kvetch (complain) about my feet" We get to her place, which by the way on Thursdays is her regular teachers’ day off (usually, she gets all clingy and won't let me go) Today...a drop of laughing as she finishes her treat, and off she goes There is a lot of "sales" going on in this story On this episode of The Win More, On Purpose Podcast Yermi Kurkus joins me on: Empowerment Sales: Unleashing Conversations That Sell Themselves We will be talking about understanding: Why would a person want to buy from you and not from someone else?
