Unknown 0:08Friday afternoon October 22, a strong and deep low pressure system situated over the Ohio Valley continues to pivot northeast. This storm system is vertically stacked and it's strong enough that they're likely will not be or there will be a weak secondary low pressure system that develops off in North Carolina, that secondary low pressure is not going to strengthen until the primary, that low pressure system moves a little bit further away. Usually it strengthens quicker but this time it's to organize the primary low pressure system is too strong and organized. It's going to have to first pull away before that secondary area of low pressure develops heavy rains along the East Coast due to this nor Easter will be the second one within just a few days. This one's not quite as large not quite producing as much rain as the previous ones did. However, since grounds are saturated in the rivers are already flooding and coastal floods are have already been occurring. This one just aggravates the situation. As a result, we have flood advisories and flood warnings in effect from much of these coasts. We also have some places seeing wind advisories, such as Baltimore, other places along the coast are also experiencing wind advisories. There's some talk about possible thunderstorms in some areas. But generally speaking, the instability is going to be low for those locations. And there's only a real minor chance for any type of thunder. Most of the warmer air will remain all the way out in the Atlantic Ocean. One of the most interesting thing that I've ever heard really is something that was mentioned in the New York Times where it says that this is a low pressure system, this strong storm system after it moves out to sea, it has a chance of becoming a named tropical storm. Unbelievable and named Tropical Storm isn't even in the tropics. It's not even in the tropics, but it has a chance of becoming a named tropical storm. Heavy research is needed on that that requires a very significant investigation to figure out what is going on with that, at the very least maybe a post tropical system. But since when do we give do we give post tropical systems storms names I mean, do we do that the Weather Channel gives everything a name but do is that the official thing I don't know I've never heard of this. Anyways, this low pressure system goes out to see it might be becoming into a tropical a tropical storm. I don't know what that means, but it might be getting a name. Further off to our west. We have much warmer air which is making its way into the Rockies. And then this is an advance of a low pressure system is another strong storm Pacific system that's up in the northwest. The radar shows lots of precipitation coming from an atmospheric river once again for Washington and places up there. The that atmospheric river is in those low pressure systems that continuously are coming on to the coast as a result of what appeared to be a really strong low pressure system which is pretty stationary up in the Gulf of Alaska area somewhere around there. And that's going to continue during storm after storm into the Pacific Northwest of great interest of very great interest to those people who love snow for this week is the following information. The trough of in the we have first of all a record high ridge ridge with unusually strong ridge going unusually far north all the way up into northwest Canada. And then that makes a dip that makes a trough going way down over here. In addition additionally there's a strong storm system that's going to be developing over in the Texas area. When you play that out. We will be getting looks like our first arctic air mass of the season coming in this week. And we have something phenomenal which will be taking place over the next couple of days and I'm not referring to the storm system developing often the Dakotas are actually developing just to the west of that pushing into South Dakota, which will be likely bringing perhaps a snow storm up six to 12 inches for the second half of the weekend. A rain or ice storm, perhaps flooding as well for the first half of the weekend. We're not referring to that, referring to the dew points to the humidity. Take a look at Nebraska for tomorrow we have the dry line which is situated somewhere in Nebraska from the eastern part of the state to the western part of the state. You have the dry line in between. We have dew points in North Platte, Nebraska, going down into the low to mid 20s for tomorrow afternoon. But dew points in the east part in Nebraska in the low to mid 60s, low 60s, perhaps mid 60s. So you wonder how could temperatures in North Platte Nebraska get into the 90s? Well, that's why the air is so dry, the sun is super efficient and heating things up. In eastern Nebraska, we also might see temperatures very close to 90. What's going on in eastern Nebraska is a lot more impressive. Really, once you look at the dew point, it's a lot more impressive than what's going on in western Nebraska. You have dew points in the low 60s. And still temperatures are forecast to make it very close to 90 degrees. Even though dew points are 40 degrees higher in eastern Nebraska. That's something really phenomenal. You know, if you look at let's take a city in the summertime like St. Louis, Missouri, and you look at the days when it hit that say 104 degrees such as August 17, back in 2003, or 2004, I believe. You take a look at that and you'll see 2003 2003 Let's say you take a look at that. And you'll see how temperature the dew point temperatures were in the 60s in the morning, temperatures were whatever they were. And right before as the temperatures were going way up to 104. The dew points were dropping quickly, probably about one or two degrees per every degree Fahrenheit went up. So perhaps even two degrees. So you have it's very significant. Dew point is a form of energy just like temperature, so the dew point drops, all that energy gets transferred into the temperature, the temperature goes up so you have a 40 degree difference in dew point, you would think there would be an enormous difference in temperature as well. You would think it would be something like what happens in Texas, Houston, Texas, you'll have highs in the mid 90s Rio Grande village, Texas you have a high about 110 degrees. Sometimes even hotter, you have a 15 degree difference between the two cities. One city is getting blasted with humidity off the Gulf of Mexico and talk about being blessed with humidity. The real city that gets blasted with humidity is Galveston, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas, when it gets humid, those are really the most though the humidity in those places is really top notch in this country even higher than South Florida on the weather map tomorrow. Even in Florida dew points are only going to be around 60 degrees, that until you enter the Miami area, then you start to approach 70 degrees. If you look at the Midwest, it's not just eastern Nebraska, the whole Midwest, even Louisiana, two points in the low 60s, low 60s. Or maybe the wind flow is not really off the Gulf yet, although they it will be so but in any case, you have dew points in the low 60s by the Gulf states those dew points, the air moves north and the dew points remain in the low 60s, even by St. Louis and it remains in the low 60s, even for eastern Nebraska. But actually it's even higher my draycote We're holding on a higher level than that. Because the dew points actually don't just remain in the low 60s. When you get north of St. Louis the dew points actually start to rise into the mid 60s. You'll see dew points 6667 degrees in an actually corresponds to the Corn Belt, the Midwest Corn Belt. Now what's shocking to me the big finish over here. What's the shocker roo there's a tremendous shocker over here, or is there even corn this time of the year is there corn being grown in the fields yet? I don't know. I don't really know. In the summertime This is a normal occurrence. If you have air off of the Gulf of Mexico affecting Iowa, the dew points are going to be highest in Iowa in this country. Dew points go way up. You have dew points. The only area you can get dew points in the 80s in this country besides every now and then in Galveston, Texas, or you know once in a while here and there on the Gulf Coast. In Iowa you'll get dew points well past 80 degrees sometimesUnknown 5:00This past summer a dew point hit 86 degrees in some city in Iowa. That's Persian Gulf stuff. This is Persian Gulf territory where the water temperatures in the Persian Gulf are in the mid 90s. So you have air blowing off of that water, you have dew points in the mid 80s. But the cornfields, the cornfields really push those dew points up, because the cornfields are not restricted by water temperature, and therefore, it can go up and up and they transmit an enormous amount of moisture into the air. The question is, what about now? Are there cornfields? Right now? Why are the dew points higher in Iowa, in places right around the Corn Belt, according to tomorrow's weather map? Why is that? So? Perhaps if there were cornfields dew points would be even higher. But maybe there's, I don't know, I don't know why the dew points are higher, but you have dew points of 60 degrees, which will be going up even into Minnesota by the time you get the Shabbos. And the dew points start to drop in the St. Louis area. By the time you reach up, it's not big time, just slightly lower dew points in the upper 50s. And the East Coast never really makes it into the 60s and dew points in the 60s for the East Coast. By the way for the East Coast. You have really warm weather coming to you for Friday. That's the weather that's over here in the Midwest for especially. Yes, that's the weather here in the Midwest, in the Midwest shot in this weather, the explanation, this weather? You know, there's a strong question that someone could ask a cold front just went through in the Chicago area. So why in the world is it 10 to 15 degrees warmer than it was yesterday? So the answer one answer is that the Yeah, the cold air aloft temperatures, meteorologists love to measure temperatures that 5000 feet above the surface, because the computer models seem to have an accurate picture of that. That's what the many of the National Weather Service Forecast discussions. I've seen that before. But the problem is, how does that translate to surface temperatures. So when you have a strong sun like you do today, the ultraviolet index in Chicago is a seven powerful sun. So you're gonna get temperatures which are gonna go way up to 70 degrees, even warmer than that, perhaps. And on the East Coast. That's what's headed to the East Coast tomorrow. If you should get a downslope wind in the Baltimore area downloads, the Blue Ridge Mountains, you're gonna get temperatures even warmer than whatever those computer models say that happens sometimes. I've been there when that happened when you have temperatures that are forecast to be low 70s. I think it was a day in December, actually, if the winds come off the mountains and just the right way, for Baltimore, it has to be just the right way. Temperatures actually went up into the low 80s. So you see stuff like that. Anyways, then we have a little bit of a cooldown for the east coast on Shabbos. Not too bad, but the real warmth comes in on Sunday, temperatures go well into the 80s for many locations, for especially Virginia, Washington, DC, Baltimore, it's I think it's gonna go into the ad Sunday, but there are other forecasts for Baltimore, winds may come in off the ocean and bring those temperatures down for areas and coastal cities. You know, I think if that doesn't happen, I think it's gonna happen after Baltimore's already reached 80 degrees, at least for Sunday. And then you have that front that is going to move through associated with a strong storm system up in the Dakotas, which might even the barometric pressure of that storm might even drop below 29 At some point, so it's really strong. You have temperatures in the 80s for South Dakota on Friday, within just a few miles of the area, which is getting a foot of snow, and even the area getting a foot of snow in the Black Hills, maybe even more than a foot of snow verse, Saturday night and Sunday, even for that area. Temperatures still reaching the 60s, Friday afternoon. That place is jam packed with snow. They have a snowpack already heavy snowpack all over the place over there. And it's really quite interesting. The whole situation that's going on in the Dakotas is as fascinating as can be a storm after storm affects that area. That one doesn't really count for an area of precipitation. Or at least that's not what I was referring to. However the first one is not expected to fall as snow. The first one is either going to be a rain or freezing rain situation. So there's a potential ice storm which would have great impacts for North Dakota on Shabbos on Saturday, we also have a severe weather outbreak possible Friday night as well for South Central North Dakota and also South Dakota. The primary threat is large hail, there also could be a tornado or two especially in South Dakota. Precipitation that changes over to snow. By Saturday evening by shavitz evening. Spedition rates could be heavy winds are going to be strong. Winds will come strong Saturday night. The winds become strong when this transition to snow takes place. And the chances are six to 12 inches sounds like a very reasonable forecast. Considering you're on the backside of a system that's producing around two inches of rain. So the first half the first inch of rain is not falling and snow. But you figure the second half you get another inch which produces six to 12 inches of snow blizzard or near blizzard conditions expected for Saturday night. This is a major impact event should an ice storm develop on Saturday. The strong winds significantly add to the severity of the impact Saturday night as ice accumulates on trees and power lines. It is very early Wednesday morning here in the Midwest and we have really such active weather and especially if you're in North Dakota places like North Dakota it's really amazing what the state has just gone through it considering last week that three they Blizzard, which was a historic Blizzard have broke many records across the state. For snowfall accumulations. We had one area that got 36 inches of snow. That town didn't break a record Believe it or not because the official amount was only 20 inches of snow it was but the 36 inches of snow was considered valid. And we had many places which were anywhere between 24 and 36 inches. Some areas got several feet of snow drifts. The pictures are just unbelievable. There's pictures of doors which you open up the door the whole thing is snow you can't even get out. Now, that area so they got a massive blizzard last week with 60 mile per hour wind gusts. Another major snowstorm moved through Sunday night Sunday Sunday night in some areas got about eight inches of snow in North Dakota again places like Leeds North Dakota they got eight inches of snow this place kavaler North Dakota, eight inches of snow. Grand Morales Minnesota, 7.3 inches of snow Devils Lake North Dakota, six inches of snow Duluth, Minnesota, 5.8 inches of snow we're holding in April, they already broke a record. Bismarck North Dakota broke a record for the snowiest April on record. I think it's the previous record was 21.8 inches. Currently they're holding a 21.9 inches, with still 13 days left to go for April at the time this record was broke. Now, there is a major major snowstormUnknown 2:02a major storm system and impactful storm system, which will be pushing up the Dakotas this weekend. This will have major impacts for all over the country really. But for North Dakota, another winter weather event is possible in North Dakota in the northern half of North Dakota. The European computer model has just brought the strong track further north than what it was saying earlier tells us the National Weather Service for Bismarck. And you know the rain, it's gonna be a tricky call for at least the first half probably rain snow, probably mostly rain really. But when you get into Sunday, so when you're already on the backside of the storm, that's really when there's very high potential for death. Certainly the western parts in the Northwest parts of North Dakota to be seeing snow, perhaps even all snow. Now before we get in, that's going to be a significant storm as well. It's a solid at least six inches. There might be a lot more than that. We already have a winter storm warning which goes into effect this morning at 7am. For places in Minnesota, not Duluth, Minnesota but very close to Duluth, Minnesota, six to 10 inches of snow expected in areas over there. That's a low pressure system which is pushing off to the northeast. You know the Northeast also. They got also areas got 18 inches of snow. That was on Tuesday between Monday. That was on Monday actually, by Tuesday morning already. There are places which were getting a foot even more of snow there were places which have there's videos of Thundersnow just very beautiful stuff going on. You have places this is a rarity to see places with the flowers blooming. But the snows coming down hard also there was lots of power outages some of the counties up there report that they've never seen so many trees down ever. So there's really a lot going on up there. In Nebraska and North Platte Nebraska is expecting a record high the previous records 92 degrees, forecasts high Friday 93 degrees.Unknown 5:13This is a strong storm system. It's bringing in summer heat summer heat ahead of the system on Friday and you know those 90s Go up South Dakota, South Dakota areas in the 80s. If temperatures in the 80s for South Dakota, it wouldn't be so surprising to get a 90 degree reading over there. When you see how far north those 80s are going. But North Platte, Nebraska it's not and it's going well into the 90s over there. You have it North Dakota Of course it's just south it's just north of South Dakota. Camera is getting pretty mild there for this in the south east parts of North Dakota and not the 80s maybe the 60s or something like that. But when you get to the northwest part of North Dakota, you have temperatures in the 30s maybe even colder than that. We're going to you know last week it's something similar to what happened last week, perhaps not quite as extreme maybe when you had a temperature in Omaha, Nebraska, 91 degrees, five o'clock pm then you had a temperatures somewhere in the Dakotas of 19 degrees in Spearfish spirit Spearfish. I think it was, I think that's the city Spearfish. 19 degrees at five o'clock pm the teens in one area that 90s in another area. You know, the Fahrenheit system allows is a much media friendly system. The Fahrenheit system is very media friendly. And you can have a headline 90s and the Braska teens in the Dakotas. Also the North Dakota South Dakota thing is very media friendly because teens in the Dakotas 90s. In Nebraska, they border each other once North Dakota once South Dakota, it's 1991. You know, it's like, but either even without those headlines, even with even if you go to the Celsius system, you're still looking 32 degrees Celsius, maybe even 33 degrees Celsius 33 degrees Celsius in Omaha, Nebraska, and then you go into that town in North Dakota. So if you're looking at a temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, that's about nine eight, that's about 918.Unknown 7:17Celsius that's colder than 14 degrees Celsius, that's probably 13 or 12 degrees Celsius, no colder than 14 billows. That's probably what would it be to 1112 degrees below zero Celsius. It's really cold. That's really cold at 19 degrees over there. So even without the media friendly Fahrenheit system, and even without the jumbling up North Dakota and South Dakota into one big word, the decoders, even just looking at the facts, It's so unbelievable. It's really amazing. When you have teens and 90s coming together, in this weekend storm system, we're gonna see something pretty similar. I don't know about the blizzard. I don't know about the blizzard, the Blizzard has the first half might be falling as rain, but there still could be some very significant stuff happening in the second half. We also have to deal with this time of the year as the solar insolation solar insulation. It's i n s o l a t IO n. That's the amount of solar the amount of the sun's rays it's hitting the ground. It's It's really high this time of the year. We have an ultra violent index on Thursday here in Chicago forecast to be the seventh, you go out into the Dakotas where you have snow covered ground, that ultraviolet index is going to be higher than a seven. You have the clouds that lowers it. Even on a cloudy day. Still here in Chicago, we're getting an ultraviolet index of three that's equivalent to what it is on a sunny day in South Padre Island, Texas in December, might even get more ultraviolet rays than that. We're talking about strong sun this time of the year the National Weather Service in Bismarck, North Dakota informs us or this might be in Duluth, Minnesota informs us. It's Duluth, Minnesota for tomorrow, that even though temperatures will be below 32 in the area of the winter storm warning, and it's cloudy and it's snowing, there still could be some melting. And there could even It could even affect the precipitation type. Some of the precipitation might start to fall over. As far as rain, it might fall as rain even though the temperatures are below 32. Only just because of the solar installation. It's really an you know, when you get the heavier precipitation rates, that's when you get the dynamic cooling. That pretty much guarantees when you have temperatures that cold. You're pretty much guaranteed with the heavier precipitation make the presentation with falling as snow. That's what's been going on in the East Coast whenever it was Monday, Tuesday, Sunday night even that's what's been going on heavier precipitation rates is when the precipitation changes the snow Oh, in some areas forecasted only rain. But if the precipitation falls down heavily enough, you can start to get snow even though temperatures are well above 32. It's more common this time of the year to see stuff like that, to see temperatures well above 32 and precipitation falling and snow, I have noticed in the month of April, it is a lot more common when you go back into November and December, the precipitation falls as rain usually when temperatures are in the upper 30s, sometimes even mid 30s. But this time of the year, mid and upper 30s, when the cold enough for the precipitation to fall snow, if you're in the backside of the storm system.
