Unseasonable Warmth! Succos weather for Midwest ( High Confidence)

Sep 26, 2023

7:32

Extended Heatwave by the end of this week. But 1st a cut off low pressure storm system which originated from the pacific Ocean continues to bring heavy rain with storms across Minnesota and it's surrounding states to the South and East. This Cut Off low is difficult to forecast because it does not have the jet stream associated with it. In fact it will be the high pressure ridge that will eventually push this low out of here. Until it does there are approximately 2 waves of precipitation that may impact the Chicago area on Tuesday 9/26/23. The 1st is for the morning rush hour and the 2nd is for the evening rush hour. The storm's impact on St.Louis will be dependent upon a surge of Gulf moisture which most models keep it East of The Mississippi. Therefore this system is not currently forecasted to have a significant impact in St.Louis. However, there is a marginal risk for severe weather for parts of both Missouri and Illinois. Cloud to ground lightning, large hail and even a couple of damaging tornadoes remains possible even in Chicago. In between the system and the ridge there could be isolated lake effect rain showers near parts of Lake Michigan. All rain shuts down and Friday onward no rain for many days. Powerhouse Heat Dome of 591 decimeter settles over Southern Missouri and Illinois on Saturday 9/30/23. Heat Dome weakens slightly on Sunday to 588 but remains stationary through Midweek next week. This will bring widespread 80's across all 10 Midwest States + South Central States as well. Some isolated spots of 90s will take place. Due to the Easterly component to the wend around the Mississippi river going eastward, temps will be cooler near the Lake in Chicago. This weather pattern is known as an Omega Block. In an Omega Block All Cold Air From Canada is Directed to the West Coast. This Cold air is forecasted to make it to the Midwest bringing snow to parts of the great lakes and Iowa by the end of October. However, the GFS model has this happening as early as about October 8th (Simcha's Torah holiday). Stay tuned for later updates. 90° Heat heads to Omaha. High's from 77° - 86° (25 - 30° C) for Chicago. High's 80' for Most Midwest with 50' and 60's at night. Warm and Dry weather arrives in time for The Holiday Of Sukkot providing Ideal conditions for Both sleeping and Eating Outside in the Succa (hut with no rain protection). This includes ALL cities in MidwestBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.

7-30: Severe storms in Arizona: Marine Heatwave, Heat Over Plains

Jul 31, 2023

19:48

The latest version of this episode now includes entertaining sound effects including the famous sports announcer for both the Saint Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs Harry Carey (especially his famous "holy cow"). In this episode we first hear about severe storms in Arizona. We hear from 4 year old YZ about Chicago weather. We then hear weather headlines across the country and even the world. Headlines include potential hurricane development and information on solar cycle with it's impact on internet outages. New York city weather is included. Iraq heat along with it's associated power outages are mentioned. We discuss 90° heat in Alaska, Heat intensification over Dallas, heat breakdown over Phoenix and a quick return of heat at end of week for St.Louis. The final segment discusses an unprecedented marine heatwave occuring in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico which brought water temperatures to bathtub levels of 101° in Everglade National Park. The Washington Post tells us that this along with the 102° reading that occured in 2017 might be the hottest water temperature globally. Normally, hottest water temps are in Persian Gulf including Iran and the Red Sea. ( The Dead Sea in Israel has seen hotter water temperatures ). Enjoy!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.

Unpredictable St. Louis (95° - 110°) Thursday 6-29-23, Quincy (89°-100°) Friday and Chicago Thursday

Jun 28, 2023

5:56

Can you imagine stepping into another era, experiencing the torrid temperatures of a dust bowl year, all while standing in the heart of St. Louis? The GFS and HRRS Computer models are doing an excellent job at "imagining" such a scenario for tomorrow June 29th 2023 in St.Louis with forecasting highs in the 110's as a dry line develops. We're venturing a stationary heat dome, thunderstorms circling its edges like a 'ring of fire', and the brewing complexities that could cause a forecast bust in the forecast for the Chicago and St Louis National Weather Services. We invite you to unravel the enigma of the GFS computer model's vision for St Louis - an extreme dust bowl year scenario with temperatures spiking into the 110s. An intense atmospheric mix, plummeting dew points, and a potential dry line all conspire to create this extraordinary weather portrait. But will the reality match the prediction? Our discussion debates the climate credibility of this dramatic scenario while also considering the fascinating interplay between the stationary heat ridge and the ‘ring of fire.' So, brace yourself for an enlightening journey through these enthralling weather phenomena in the Midwest!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.

Get ready to embark on an expedition.Starting with the air quality deterioration in Chicago, we highlight a hazardous effect of temperature inversion especially when combined with Canadian wildfire smoke. Witness how Asia sweats with extreme heat reaching a staggering 128 degrees Fahrenheit in Iran and how the Lut Desert, possibly the hottest place on earth, withstands surface temperatures of up to 177 degrees. Then, we zoom over to the United States, where temperatures in Texas, Oklahoma and Arizona scorched today with 109° - 114 degrees heat and 8 cities reached 100°+ in Louisiana with high humidity. We wrapped up with the day's highest temperatures in Africa and Europe.
