In total, Rebbe Akiva had 24,000 students who were devoted to him and devoted to the Almighty. However, tragedy struck when a plague killed all 24,000 students. This was a massive blow to Rebbe Akiva and Jewish tradition, as it meant that much knowledge would be lost with the passing of these great students. Despite this tragedy, Rebbe Akiva continued to teach Torah and was able to pass his teachings on to future generations. His story is a testament to the strength and resilience of Judaism in the face of adversity. The loss of his 24,000 students was tragic, but their memory will continue to live on for centuries to come. Rebbe Akiva's story is an important reminder that we should never give up our faith, no matter how difficult it may become. Hashem Saves In The Blink Of An Eye

We often witness Hashem's hand in the extraordinary and unexpected. We are reminded of the milestones that G-d has performed and continues to perform for us daily. The splitting of the Red Sea is one such momentous event - when it would seem impossible to escape from an enemy advancing upon them, G-d parted the sea so they could march through safely on dry land. The Torah speaks of how miraculous salvation happens even quicker than the blink of an eye (Shmot 14:30). It was "in a split second," as Rashi puts it, that Hashem saved Am Yisrael from specific danger. This highlights two important points about our relationship with G-d. First, Hashem always provides us with salvation and support when needed. And second, Hashem's power is dynamic and instantaneous - our prayers are answered in a split second by an omnipotent force. We must never forget the miracles that G-d has done for us in our lives, those of generations past and those yet to come. We can take comfort in knowing that no matter what challenges or obstacles arise on our journey through life, Hashem will be there at every step to lend us aid and guidance. Competition gives us a unique perspective on the world, gives us a sense of accomplishment, and can be incredibly rewarding. The Torah teaches us that completion is essential and should not be taken lightly. We must strive to improve ourselves to reach our full potential while never using competition as an excuse to bring another person down. The ancient Jewish sages taught that success comes from hard work and dedication rather than taking shortcuts or belittling others. Completing tasks that are meaningful to us will result in growth and development both mentally and spiritually. Achieving something reminds us of our capabilities, opening new possibilities for additional accomplishments. In addition to providing a sense of accomplishment, completing tasks can also create a connection between ourselves and God. By actively striving to achieve our goals, we demonstrate that we believe in the greatness of something greater than ourselves. The Torah says, “You shall serve the Lord your God with all your heart and soul” (Deuteronomy 10:12). Jews still mark the days between Passover and Shavuot in a "Counting of the Omer." The period of 49 days counted is known as the "Omer period" or "the Omer." Each day, Jews recite a special blessing in the synagogue or at home. During this counting period, there are various customs that many Jewish communities observe, such as refraining from haircuts, getting married, and even listening to music. According to Maharal, there is a symbolic contrast between the omer offering (offered on Passover) and the Shavuos sacrifice provided upon the conclusion of the omer. It was the night of Pesach, and the family had gathered together for their Seder. The house was filled with laughter and conversations as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends arrived to celebrate. As they took their places at the table, they began to sing songs of gratitude and praise while they feasted on matzo ball soup, brisket, and kugel. The youngest grandchild proudly read out the four Hebrew questions enthusiastically. Everyone smiled, marveling at his recitation. The youngest then proceeded to open up the Haggadah as all eyes fixed upon him. He turned the pages slowly and read each statement aloud that represented a part of the great Exodus story. Then, family members around the table shared stories of their ancestors before them and how those individuals had gone through difficult times in life. It was a fun-filled night enjoyed by all involved as every family member retired contentedly, knowing that Pesach's timeless message had been passed down for generations. Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, is a Jewish holiday commemorating the Israelites' liberation from slavery in ancient Egypt. It is celebrated for seven days, with the first and last days being special holidays. On the first night of Passover, Jews gather around the table to celebrate freedom and tell the story of their ancestors' exodus from Egypt. The first night of Pesach is an integral part of the holiday. During this time, families come together to share a meal known as a Seder. This meal includes traditional foods such as matzah (unleavened bread), charoset (a sweet mixture of apples and nuts), and maror (bitter herbs). As they eat, family members take turns reading from a book called the Haggadah which tells the story of how God freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. At each stage of the Seder, special rituals are performed to remind us of our ancestors' journey out of Egypt. For example, during karpas (the vegetable course), we dip parsley into salt water to symbolize tears shed by those enslaved in Egypt. The night of Pesach is about remembering our past and looking forward to our future. We use this time to reflect on what it means to be free and how we can work towards achieving freedom today. Today is Taanis Esther, the fast of Esther. We learn how queen Esther prepared for her significant moment in the town of Shushan, as is told in the Purim story, and to commemorate her great act, we too fast. The Purim story is a tale of bravery, faith, and resilience. Queen Esther was willing to risk it all to save her Jewish people from being annihilated by the wicked Haman. The whole Purim story is found in the Megillah, named after Queen Esther, a scroll read on purim each year. We learn how Esther approached the King and risked her life for her people despite knowing what could happen if she failed. The brave actions of this Jewish heroine should inspire us to stand up for Hahsdem and what is genuinely right no matter what obstacles come our way. We must never forget that purim is more than just a holiday filled with costumes and parties; it's an opportunity to remember the strength of the Jewish people and the heroic actions of holy Jews of that generation. We must never forget that Purim reminds us of our heritage, courage, and faith.
