He urges listeners to stop becoming numb or treating these as mere "inconveniences" (e.g., canceled flights, bomb shelters, disrupted life), but instead to actively declare Hashem's salvation daily, as commanded in Tehillim ("basru miyom el yom yeshu'ato" – announce His salvation day by day). Drawing from the Hagomel blessing (for deliverance from danger) and the 100 daily berachot, he stresses that forgetting to praise Hashem leads to spiritual numbness, just as forgetting a spouse's love erodes a relationship.Rabbi Wolbe contrasts the miracles of the splitting of the sea (witnessed yet followed by the Golden Calf) with today's events: we live in open nissim (e.g., missiles "flicked out of the air" with minimal damage), yet many move on without vocal thanks. In this quick but powerful shiur on Vayakhel-Pekudei, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe shares an insight from Rabbi Yaakov Nagel (Senior Rabbi of Heimish of Houston) about the unique double-sided drapes (Yeri'ot) in the Mishkan. In this continuation of the Gate of Flattery (Sha'ar HaChanufah), Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe examines the seventh component: the sin of abstaining from rebuke (tochacha) when one knows the community or individuals are "stiff-necked" (k'shei oref) and unlikely to listen. Early pious sages sold items at the price fixed in their hearts—even refusing higher offers. A precious pearl remains precious regardless of who holds it.Critique & truth — Wise people love truthful critique—it’s free self-improvement. Moshe rebuked gently; accept correction without ego. Truth from any source elevates.Modern application — Politicians often flip positions—truth isn’t negotiable. We must verify everything against Torah sources (no anonymous claims). Truth stands forever; falsehood collapses. Live congruently: heart, mouth, and actions aligned with emes.The rabbi ties this to daily life: in a world of contradictions (politics, news), prioritize truth over comfort or convenience. Truth connects us to Hashem (Emet); falsehood separates us from our godly soul.
