I'll Go by FRANCISKA I'll Go by FRANCISKA

KOL ISHA When my daughter Rivka was born, I realized I would have to write a song using her original name sake from the Bible. I already had a song with Miriam and a song with Rachel for my other girls. It was just a matter of time before I’d be asked to play “her” song that Mommy wrote. My aunt Dr. Danielle Bloom (the one I go to when I need help developing Torah ideas for a song) and I looked through the texts and we decided to create a song in English, using a “first person” style, sharing a story from Rivka’s perspective. The essence of the song is to show the proactive side of Rivka when she changes the course of her life by choosing to go with Eliezer to marry Isaac, a man she never met. She knew this was what she was meant to do. She said “I’ll go.” Sometimes, these are hardest words to live up to. It’s hard, it’s unknown, it’s change. She fulfills her life’s work and ultimately makes sure Jacob receives the blessings and spiritaul status of the first born with all its privileges and responsibilities. When I think of Rivka, I think of someone who was very hospitable. The flow of water represents pure substance, pure abundance. This song is designed for you to look at Rivka like she’s standing right in front of you and showing you her story. You can do this too. You can choose to be abundant, you can choose to pick up and go. You can change the trajectory of your life no matter how deceiving and crooked your home and family may be. Just start by saying - “I’ll Go”. These same words are the one’s that all the reservists said when the war broke out. Within hours, days - there were 350,000 men saying “I”LL GO” and defend our land, our people, our nation. The strength in these words and actions have such strong effects. I hope you find that thing you need to say “I’ll go” to and use Rivka’s actions to activate the strength from within you. Happy Chanuka!
