Avinu Malkeinu. Our Father, Our King. I keep thinking about how Avinu comes first. Before He is our King, He is our Father. As Elul approaches, HaMelech Basadeh. The King is in the field. No throne, no distance. Just Hashem meeting us where we are, waiting for us to come close. Sometimes those first steps into the field feel so hard. But I’m learning to see Torah and mitzvot not as burdens, but as invitations into His closeness. The ways Hashem has made Himself available to us in this world. This song is a prayer from that place. A yearning to move from fear into love, to choose connection, and to remember that He is already there waiting for us.
