The Four Days With Nothing to Hold On To- erev sukot 5787

Sep 25, 2026

22:39

Erev Sukkos. Nothing prepared, as always — and then one comment in the room twisted the whole thing in a different direction.Start with where we actually are. From Rosh Chodesh Elul to Simchas Torah there is one stretch with no Yom Tov in it at all: the four days between Yom Kippur and Sukkos. Four days with nothing to hold on to. And they decide everything.Elul is HaMelech basadeh, the King in the field, campaigning for His own inauguration. Rosh Hashana is the coronation — v'yitnu lecha kesser meluchah — and the Rebbe says the crown is made of every kind of diamond and every kind of sapphire, which is every kind of Yid. The inauguration is live, and it happens in Uman. You can watch it from Boro Park. But you were invited to sit on the dais. Then Yom Kippur. And then — nothing.• Motzaei Yom Kippur, the urges come booming back. Every one of them. You just came through the holiest hours of the year and the yetzer hara is waiting at the door, and the four days with no Yom Tov in them are exactly where he does his work• Hamtana — the waiting. What the Rebbe calls the real teshuvah. You apologized and she said yes and her face has not changed yet. What do most of us do? Forget about it, I'm not saying it again. But if you wait it out, and face the humiliation, and do not run — the light comes back, and she comes back to you the way she came the first time• Elul through Yom Kippur is teshuva mi'yirah — I am scared, I want a good year, parnassa, nachas. Sukkos is teshuva me'ahava. The four days are the bridge, and there is no other way across• Rav Aharon on the road to Breslov, and what Reb Nosson said to him: even if the Rebbe himself told me not to come, I would not listen, because I know his real ratzon is that I should come• The three things Reb Nosson had clear from the Rebbe: Shulchan Aruch every day. Hisbodedus every day. And the third• Hisbodedus in bed, before the day starts. Negelvasser, back under the blanket, no phone, nothing has happened yet, nothing has tainted you, your neshama just came back from Hashem. Mateisi b'dimasi arsi — I soaked my bed with my tears• L'fareish kol libo — not help me and save me, but what am I feeling right now? And if you have to think about it, that is already the answer. You are not thinking your feelings, you are thinking your thinking• Which is why a man lives reactive, reactive, reactive — and even his proactive thinking is business, wife, children, tasks, transactions. What about me?• "She is always wrong with the story, and she is always right with the feeling." She is the scanner. She only knows one thing — are you providing, physically, emotionally, spiritually — and when you are not, beep, beep, beep. She finds some small thing you did not do and goes to pieces over it, and you are standing there saying what did I do? And you know exactly what you did. She does not. But she feels it• The wife as the Shechinah, the mekabel, the feminine — and kudsha brich hu as what is supposed to be coming toward her• The yetzer hara walked into the beis medrash. You can be sitting in the beis medrash and be in She'ol Tachtis with a scroll and the press of a button — and with AI it is worse. So what is your remedy? What are you actually going to do?• B'hai sefer haZohar yifkun min galusa — the answer is pnimiyus haTorah, because pnimiyus haTorah speaks to your challenges. It understands them• And the sicha: ve'achshav yesh nachal nove'a shemetaher mikol haksamim — now there is a flowing spring that cleanses us from every stain• Then the sukkah. Tzila d'mehemnusa — out of the house we sinned in, into neutral territory, to get to know each other again. The lulav and esrog as armor. And Simchas Torah, where we marry the Torah from Bereishis, from the beginning, like the first timeOne more day. One more day, Hashem. Why Is the Rebbe Buried in Uman?My Uman, 5787

Sep 23, 2026

25:51

Sitting around the table after Rosh Hashana, telling it the way you'd tell a friend who has never been. It starts with the week before — a couple of hundred people and easy access to the tziyun on Sunday, harder on Monday, and by Tuesday you had to push your way through. Waves of people arriving every day until the whole place filled. And then the question somebody asks that nobody ever really answers: why is he buried in Uman at all? Thirty years before the Rebbe was born, Gonta came through, city by city. A fire in the square and a tzelem beside it — convert or jump. The mayor of Uman came out to surrender the city and offered his own daughter, Sophia, if the Jews would be spared. Gonta took the daughter and killed the Jews anyway. Thirty thousand of them. Twelve survived, and those twelve dug one pit on a mountain and made a kever achim. Years later the Rebbe passes through Uman on his way to Breslov and stays two weeks — in a room overlooking that cemetery. These neshamos are waiting for me to be metaken them. And he says he wants to be buried there. And another sicha, which is a hard thing to hear: he would have wanted Eretz Yisrael — but if I am buried in Eretz Yisrael, nobody will come. Here, everybody is going to come. What else we go through: • Berel and Aharon. Rav Aharon the Rav asks Erev Rosh Hashana whether to go back to his kehillah or stay — and gets yes to both questions. And Berel, a craftsman, a pshut'er Yid, an ones, does not make it. Reb Nosson tries to excuse him and the Rebbe will not take the excuse: "I said nobody should be missing. And Berela and Aharon are both missing."The greatest tzaddik of the generation and the simplest Yid, named in one breath • The promise at the kever — a pruta l'tzedaka, ten Kapitlach Tehillim, shelo yashuv od l'ivlato — and the Yiddish: I will lay myself out, in the length and in the breadth, and by his peyos I will pull him out of She'ol Tachtis u'mitachtav • What She'ol Tachtis actually means. She'ol is a bottomless pit — so what is tachtis? And then the Rebbe is mechadesh a place underneath it • The man who went to Uman on a free ticket, partied the whole Yom Tov, never once went to the tziyun — and on the way to the bus called out Rabbeinu, todah. Months later, the car accident, the beis din shel maalah, few mitzvos and many aveiros — and a redheaded yungerman walks in and says "he is from my people." They object that he never even came to the kever. But he called me Rebbe • Tikkun HaKlali is not only for tikkun habris. From Reb Yudel Kenig: it is the klali — the general remedy, for everything • Why we really come: not for ourselves. He needs every neshama for the tikkunim the world needs. You go because he said to come. Everything else is bonus • The ohr is always higher than you. Whatever level you are on, the light is above it — your lows in Uman are higher than your highest highs at home And the part for anyone who just got back: • The integration is the hardest part. You come home and reality hits you smack in the face, and it does not wait a second. And you think — all my tefillos were that reality should get better, and I came back and it hit me the other way? • Surrender to that reading and the whole Uman was gornisht vert. Farkert. This is Hashem answering your tefillos. This is Him saying: here, I am giving you your challenge • First know where you are. Then take the ohr you got there and channel it into everything you asked for — a better husband, a better father, a better friend, a better human being, a better Yid #Uman #UmanRoshHashana #Uman5787 #Breslov #Breslev #RebNachman #RebbeNachman #RabbiNachmanOfBreslov #Tziyun #Kever #Gonta #KedosheiUman #KeverAchim #Sofiyivka #Ukraine #TikkunHaKlali #TikkunHabris #RoshHashana #RoshHashanah #Teshuva #Teshuvah #SheolTachtis #RebNosson #RavAharon #LikuteiMoharan #LikuteyMoharan #ChayeiMoharan #Chassidus #Chassidut #Emuna #Emunah #Tzaddik #Neshama #Hisbodedus #Hitbodedut #Integration #ComingHome #JewishHistory #JewishSpirituality #BaalTeshuva #JewishGrowth #TorahShiur #Shiur #Yiddishkeit #AmYisrael #Breslov613 #NachNachma

The Last Words of the Heilige Rebbe The Place Prepared for Him From the Six Days of Creation Part 2

Sep 28, 2026

30:02

Part two, and the last hours. We continue straight on through Reb Nosson's own account, line by line. It begins with him being asked to move the Rebbe from the chair to the bed — his head and most of his body leaning on Reb Nosson, his feet barely touching the ground. • And as he lifts him onto the bed: לְאַט, לְאַט — in Yiddish, fawliye, fawliye. Slowly, slowly. And Reb Nosson lays him down slowly and gently, and wonders why he had to be warned about it at all • And the Rebbe tells him: אֲנִי כָּבֵד עַתָּה — I am heavy now. And Reb Nosson adds, in his own parenthesis: a person before his passing becomes heavy, because the chiyus is beginning to leave him • וּבְכָל זֶה רָמַז לִי שֶׁהוּא קָרוֹב מְאֹד לְהִסְתַּלְּקוּתוֹ. וַאֲנִי לֹא שָׁמַעְתִּי כָּל זֹאת כְּלָל אָז. In all of this he was hinting to me that he was very near his histalkus. And I did not hear any of it at the time • Lying on the bed, looking at him the whole time — and I merited to serve him then, alone, and to hand him everything he needed • Rebbi, take something to restore yourself. "What will you give me?" Tea. "With an egg yolk." And Reb Nosson cooking it — the water, the yolk, the sugar — giving him water first for netilas yadayim, and the Rebbe saying it is still too hot, because in those days he was careful not to drink anything hot that would stir the blood again. A few days before his histalkus the bleeding had stopped And then the end, and the praises Reb Nosson writes afterwards. • אַשְׁרֵי עֵינַיִם שֶׁלֹּא הִסְתַּכְּלוּ בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה — praised are the eyes that never looked at this world, כִּי כָּל הָעוֹלָם כֻּלּוֹ הָיָה אֶצְלוֹ כְּהֶרֶף עַיִן — because the whole world was to him like the blink of an eye. Praised are the ears that heard no sound of this world — and so with every limb and every sense • And where does that language come from? The Seven Beggars. Sippurei Maasiyos, maaseh 13. Look there well and understand. Nobody in the world ever said praises like that about any tzaddik — and if he knew how to say them, he was surely holding there himself • They carry him out of the house, and Reb Nosson takes hold of the corner of his garment as they go • And the bed they carried him on — I gave instruction that it be made from his chair. The high chair he had said Torah on that Rosh Hashana in Uman. They broke it apart, and made it into his bed • Thousands accompanying him, unbearable crowding — and those carrying the bed were lifted off the ground, flying in the air. And I too carried him a little • Buried b'shalom, Wednesday, the fifth day of Sukkos, in Uman — the city he chose in his lifetime, because there were many kedoshim there • כִּי שָׁם הַמָּקוֹם הַמּוּכָן לוֹ מִשֵּׁשֶׁת יְמֵי בְרֵאשִׁית — because that is the place prepared for him from the six days of creation, to labor there at the tikkun of the world, for the generations — for anyone who will come to him there and say the ten Kapitlach Tehillim, as he promised in his lifetime אַשְׁרֵי הַזּוֹכֶה לָזֶה. And that is where Reb Nosson ends it. Not with the passing. With the promise — and with the reminder that it was never a private tikkun. Every Yid who comes and says those ten kapitlach is bringing a tikkun ha'olam. The podcast delves into the concept of unity within the Jewish tradition, particularly through the lens of Shabbos, the Sabbath. The discussion unfolds with the premise that waking up to a new day is not merely a routine occurrence but an opportunity to awaken a greater consciousness. The hosts explore how Shabbos serves as a vital anchor during the chaotic week, allowing individuals to reconnect with the divine amidst daily struggles and multiplicity. They emphasize that while the weekdays can sometimes feel overwhelming with their demands and distractions, the essence of Shabbos is to transcend this turmoil and embrace a state of unity with God, as well as within oneself. This unity, they assert, is essential for maintaining perspective and purpose throughout the week, transforming mundane activities into meaningful endeavors. A significant theme of the conversation revolves around the contrast between a life that merely seeks to endure the week for the sake of the weekend—often characterized by a sense of discontent and escapism—and a life enriched by the teachings and experiences of Shabbos. The hosts argue that instead of viewing the weekdays as a burden, they should be seen as an extension of the Shabbos experience, where the lessons learned during this sacred time inform actions and attitudes throughout the week. They discuss the importance of mindfulness and intention in daily life, suggesting that by embracing the principles of Shabbos, one can approach the week with a renewed sense of purpose and joy. The episode culminates in a rich discussion about how individual differences and multiplicities can ultimately lead to a harmonious unity, drawing parallels to the Jewish community's diverse yet interconnected nature. The hosts reference the teachings of Rabbi Nachman, highlighting the beauty of collective consciousness that arises when varied perspectives converge towards a common goal. This convergence, they propose, is not only beneficial for personal growth but is also fundamental for the collective well-being of the community. Ultimately, the podcast emphasizes that Shabbos is not just a day of rest but a profound opportunity to cultivate a deeper understanding of oneself and one's relationship with God, encouraging listeners to carry this consciousness into their everyday lives. Takeaways: Shabbos is a time of unity that helps us navigate the challenges of the week. The concept of multiplicity in the world is balanced through the unity of God. By embracing both Shabbos and the week, we find meaning in our daily lives. Our connection to God is reinforced through the experiences we have on Shabbos. True unity comes from diverse individuals coming together for a common purpose. The experiences of the week enrich our understanding and enjoyment of Shabbos.

Jan 30, 2025

54:52

Join us as we dive into the fascinating story of Rabbi Eliezer and the legendary Tanur Shelachnai, or snake oven, exploring the profound implications of speech and truth in our lives. This episode highlights the power of Rabbi Eliezer's speech, showcasing how he sought to demonstrate the validity of his opinions through miraculous signs, emphasizing the importance of charity, repentance, wealth, and leadership in our discourse. We reflect on the concept of unity among diverse opinions and how true peace is achieved when individuals come together despite their differences. The discussion also touches on the idea that our actions today can impact future generations, particularly through acts of charity. Ultimately, we explore how the pursuit of truth and the unity of purpose can illuminate our paths, drawing connections between the teachings of Rabbi Nachman and the timeless wisdom of tradition. Morning greetings set the stage for a journey into the profound teachings surrounding the concept of 'holy speech' as explored through the lens of the Tanur Shelachnai, or the 'snake oven.' This episode delves into the three divine names—Kel, Elokim, and Yudkei VAV kei—that are intricately connected to the energies we harness to elevate our speech to a level of truthfulness and sanctity. Listeners are taken through a rich tapestry of Jewish thought, where the power of prayer (Tefillah) represented by Kel, the wisdom of Torah embodied in Elokim, and the divine orchestration of relationships marked by Yudkei VAV kei converge to illuminate the essence of truthful communication. The discussion weaves through the concept that every utterance we make can be categorized into four parts of speech: Tzedakah, Teshuvah, Asheris, and Malchus, each representing a distinct category of expression that reveals the depth of our internal and external realities. Through the lens of Rabbi Eliezer's encounters with the Chachamim, the episode emphasizes the importance of unity in diversity, showcasing how even when voices differ, the ultimate truth can shine through when spoken with sincerity and intent. The episode unfolds with a narrative rich in allegory and metaphor, drawing parallels between the ancient practice of pottery and the purity of speech. The Tanur Shelachnai serves as a symbolic representation of the challenges faced in the pursuit of truth, particularly in the context of the halachic debates that ensued between Rabbi Eliezer and the Sages. The metaphorical 'snake' that encircles Rabbi Eliezer alludes to the complexity of truth-seeking within a diverse community, where differing opinions can spiral around a central point without resolution. Listeners gain insight into the spiritual dynamics at play when the walls of the Beis Medrash trembled at Rabbi Eliezer's insistence that the halacha should follow him, underscoring the tension between divine authority and earthly consensus. The commentary culminates in the understanding that while Rabbi Eliezer's mastery of speech was profound, it was the collective agreement and unity among the Chachamim that ultimately aligned with divine will, revealing a greater truth that transcends individual perspectives. A key takeaway from this exploration is the essence of true leadership and the power of speech as a transformative force in both personal and communal contexts. The episode not only emphasizes the intellectual rigor of halachic discourse but also the emotional and spiritual dimensions that accompany it. By connecting the dots between the four essential categories of speech and their respective implications for social and spiritual well-being, the discussion invites listeners to reflect on their own speech and its impact on relationships and community dynamics. The final thoughts resonate with the idea that true purity in speech arises from a place of humility and a commitment to collective truth, encouraging everyone to strive for a deeper understanding of their...

Jan 30, 2025

48:56

This podcast explores the deep connections between the themes of Hanukkah, the role of the tzadik, and the interplay of the heart and lungs in times of stress. The discussion highlights how the tzadik acts as the heart of the community, offering guidance and prayer that cools the heart's fervor during challenges, akin to the lungs' role in regulating the body's temperature. The episode emphasizes the importance of the Shemin (oil) of Hanukkah as a metaphor for nourishment and healing, illustrating how it moisturizes both the body and soul, allowing for a return to balance and health. Drawing on Kabbalistic concepts, the speaker elaborates on how the communal response to a tzadik's pain can lead to collective healing, illustrating the interconnectedness of all souls. The insights culminate in a call to embrace unity and truth, reflecting the essence of Hanukkah and its enduring light throughout the year. The exploration of Hanukkah's significance unfolds with a deep dive into the interplay between spiritual and physical realms, as illustrated through the lens of Rabbi Nachman's teachings. The discussion begins with the profound connection of Hanukkah to the spiritual concept of the 'tzadik', or righteous person, who embodies the heart of the community. During times of communal stress and challenges, the people instinctively turn to their tzadik for guidance and support, paralleling the physiological responses of the human body under pressure. Just as blood rushes to the heart during moments of stress, the community seeks the tzadik's prayers and wisdom to restore balance and health. This physiological analogy is elucidated through the mushel, or parable, of blood circulation and heart function, demonstrating how divine intervention can help alleviate communal suffering and restore harmony. The episode further elaborates on the importance of breathing as a means of cooling the heart and managing stress. The lungs play a crucial role in this process, as they help regulate the body’s temperature and moisture levels, akin to how the tzadik’s prayers can soothe the hearts of the people. Breathing techniques and their impact on our physical and emotional states are emphasized, drawing on both traditional wisdom and contemporary practices. The conversation highlights how the right breathing techniques can be transformative, serving as a bridge between the conscious and subconscious, thus enhancing one’s spiritual practice and overall well-being. Ultimately, the discourse culminates in the notion of 'shemin', or oil, particularly the oil of Hanukkah, which signifies nourishment and healing for both the body and spirit. This oil serves as a metaphorical lubricant that allows for the unification of disparate elements within the community, promoting emotional and spiritual cohesion. The act of lighting the Hanukkah candles is framed not only as a ritual observance but as a powerful act of bringing forth light and unity, reinforcing the bonds among community members and with the divine. Through this rich tapestry of ideas, the episode articulates a holistic understanding of how spiritual practices can have profound effects on our physical lives, offering listeners a compelling narrative that intertwines health, spirituality, and communal responsibility. Takeaways: Hanukkah symbolizes a time of renewal and increased spiritual energy connected to our hearts. The heart and lungs are interrelated; stress affects them, requiring balance and mindfulness. Breathing techniques can help manage stress, highlighting the body's physical and spiritual connections. True unity arises from recognizing multiplicity, emphasizing the importance of community in spiritual...

Jan 31, 2025

1:02:32

R' Gislason Torah Beis Tinyana Shiur 4 Takeaways: The concept of gratitude, or 'huidah', serves as a pathway towards a profound awareness and connection with the Divine, fundamentally altering one’s perspective on life. The practice of Jewish law, or 'halacha', is not merely a set of rules; rather, it embodies a holistic approach to living with constant awareness of God in every aspect of life. In experiencing tribulations, one finds the necessity for gratitude, which is an innate response to the realization that every challenge ultimately leads to greater spiritual growth and awareness. The teachings of David Hamelech illustrate that a life characterized by ups and downs can still be filled with gratitude and acknowledgment of God’s presence in all circumstances. A woman giving birth exemplifies the ultimate act of faith; even amidst pain, she understands the impending joy and transformation that will result from her suffering. The interplay between speech and gratitude reveals that true communication is about connecting with others to foster kindness and understanding, transcending mere transactional interactions.
