Unknown 0:00Okay good morning everyone. It is very early Wednesday morning here in the Midwest and we have really such active weather and especially if you're in North Dakota places like North Dakota it's really amazing what the state has just gone through it considering last week that three they Blizzard, which was a historic Blizzard have broke many records across the state. For snowfall accumulations. We had one area that got 36 inches of snow. That town didn't break a record Believe it or not because the official amount was only 20 inches of snow it was but the 36 inches of snow was considered valid. And we had many places which were anywhere between 24 and 36 inches. Some areas got several feet of snow drifts. The pictures are just unbelievable. There's pictures of doors which you open up the door the whole thing is snow you can't even get out. Now, that area so they got a massive blizzard last week with 60 mile per hour wind gusts. Another major snowstorm moved through Sunday night Sunday Sunday night in some areas got about eight inches of snow in North Dakota again places like Leeds North Dakota they got eight inches of snow this place kavaler North Dakota, eight inches of snow. Grand Morales Minnesota, 7.3 inches of snow Devils Lake North Dakota, six inches of snow Duluth, Minnesota, 5.8 inches of snow we're holding in April, they already broke a record. Bismarck North Dakota broke a record for the snowiest April on record. I think it's the previous record was 21.8 inches. Currently they're holding a 21.9 inches, with still 13 days left to go for April at the time this record was broke. Now, there is a major major snowstormUnknown 2:02a major storm system and impactful storm system, which will be pushing up the Dakotas this weekend. This will have major impacts for all over the country really. But for North Dakota, another winter weather event is possible in North Dakota in the northern half of North Dakota. The European computer model has just brought the strong track further north than what it was saying earlier tells us the National Weather Service for Bismarck. And you know the rain, it's gonna be a tricky call for at least the first half probably rain snow, probably mostly rain really. But when you get into Sunday, so when you're already on the backside of the storm, that's really when there's very high potential for death. Certainly the western parts in the Northwest parts of North Dakota to be seeing snow, perhaps even all snow. Now before we get in, that's going to be a significant storm as well. It's a solid at least six inches. There might be a lot more than that. We already have a winter storm warning which goes into effect this morning at 7am. For places in Minnesota, not Duluth, Minnesota but very close to Duluth, Minnesota, six to 10 inches of snow expected in areas over there. That's a low pressure system which is pushing off to the northeast. You know the Northeast also. They got also areas got 18 inches of snow. That was on Tuesday between Monday. That was on Monday actually, by Tuesday morning already. There are places which were getting a foot even more of snow there were places which have there's videos of Thundersnow just very beautiful stuff going on. You have places this is a rarity to see places with the flowers blooming. But the snows coming down hard also there was lots of power outages some of the counties up there report that they've never seen so many trees down ever. So there's really a lot going on up there. The cold air Believe it or not, it's not we're not done with it. We're really not done with it. And it's I can't believe it. The National Weather Service here in Chicago says that there's a chance for snow a little bit beyond the seven day forecast cycle. This is really something phenomenal sub we have another record breaking cold air aloft coming in to the Dakotas for the weekend. That's on top of an unprecedented snowpack, which not only is it very deep snow, but also the moisture content is very high. And regardless of what type of precipitation falls this weekend, there's a risk of flooding. You know areas which are getting rain two inches of rain is expected to fall over in North Dakota. Two inches of water equivalent. Some of that falling as snow some of it falling is rain. You know temperatures Believe it or not you know you go into South Dakota, Nebraska on Friday highs going into the mid 90s. In Nebraska and North Platte Nebraska is expecting a record high the previous records 92 degrees, forecasts high Friday 93 degrees.Unknown 5:13This is a strong storm system. It's bringing in summer heat summer heat ahead of the system on Friday and you know those 90s Go up South Dakota, South Dakota areas in the 80s. If temperatures in the 80s for South Dakota, it wouldn't be so surprising to get a 90 degree reading over there. When you see how far north those 80s are going. But North Platte, Nebraska it's not and it's going well into the 90s over there. You have it North Dakota Of course it's just south it's just north of South Dakota. Camera is getting pretty mild there for this in the south east parts of North Dakota and not the 80s maybe the 60s or something like that. But when you get to the northwest part of North Dakota, you have temperatures in the 30s maybe even colder than that. We're going to you know last week it's something similar to what happened last week, perhaps not quite as extreme maybe when you had a temperature in Omaha, Nebraska, 91 degrees, five o'clock pm then you had a temperatures somewhere in the Dakotas of 19 degrees in Spearfish spirit Spearfish. I think it was, I think that's the city Spearfish. 19 degrees at five o'clock pm the teens in one area that 90s in another area. You know, the Fahrenheit system allows is a much media friendly system. The Fahrenheit system is very media friendly. And you can have a headline 90s and the Braska teens in the Dakotas. Also the North Dakota South Dakota thing is very media friendly because teens in the Dakotas 90s. In Nebraska, they border each other once North Dakota once South Dakota, it's 1991. You know, it's like, but either even without those headlines, even with even if you go to the Celsius system, you're still looking 32 degrees Celsius, maybe even 33 degrees Celsius 33 degrees Celsius in Omaha, Nebraska, and then you go into that town in North Dakota. So if you're looking at a temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, that's about nine eight, that's about 918.Unknown 7:17Celsius that's colder than 14 degrees Celsius, that's probably 13 or 12 degrees Celsius, no colder than 14 billows. That's probably what would it be to 1112 degrees below zero Celsius. It's really cold. That's really cold at 19 degrees over there. So even without the media friendly Fahrenheit system, and even without the jumbling up North Dakota and South Dakota into one big word, the decoders, even just looking at the facts, It's so unbelievable. It's really amazing. When you have teens and 90s coming together, in this weekend storm system, we're gonna see something pretty similar. I don't know about the blizzard. I don't know about the blizzard, the Blizzard has the first half might be falling as rain, but there still could be some very significant stuff happening in the second half. We also have to deal with this time of the year as the solar insolation solar insulation. It's i n s o l a t IO n. That's the amount of solar the amount of the sun's rays it's hitting the ground. It's It's really high this time of the year. We have an ultra violent index on Thursday here in Chicago forecast to be the seventh, you go out into the Dakotas where you have snow covered ground, that ultraviolet index is going to be higher than a seven. You have the clouds that lowers it. Even on a cloudy day. Still here in Chicago, we're getting an ultraviolet index of three that's equivalent to what it is on a sunny day in South Padre Island, Texas in December, might even get more ultraviolet rays than that. We're talking about strong sun this time of the year the National Weather Service in Bismarck, North Dakota informs us or this might be in Duluth, Minnesota informs us. It's Duluth, Minnesota for tomorrow, that even though temperatures will be below 32 in the area of the winter storm warning, and it's cloudy and it's snowing, there still could be some melting. And there could even It could even affect the precipitation type. Some of the precipitation might start to fall over. As far as rain, it might fall as rain even though the temperatures are below 32. Only just because of the solar installation. It's really an you know, when you get the heavier precipitation rates, that's when you get the dynamic cooling. That pretty much guarantees when you have temperatures that cold. You're pretty much guaranteed with the heavier precipitation make the presentation with falling as snow. That's what's been going on in the East Coast whenever it was Monday, Tuesday, Sunday night even that's what's been going on heavier precipitation rates is when the precipitation changes the snow Oh, in some areas forecasted only rain. But if the precipitation falls down heavily enough, you can start to get snow even though temperatures are well above 32. It's more common this time of the year to see stuff like that, to see temperatures well above 32 and precipitation falling and snow, I have noticed in the month of April, it is a lot more common when you go back into November and December, the precipitation falls as rain usually when temperatures are in the upper 30s, sometimes even mid 30s. But this time of the year, mid and upper 30s, when the cold enough for the precipitation to fall snow, if you're in the backside of the storm system. The area's on the major cities on the East Coast got pretty much a cold rain, there could have been some thunder and lightning, often the probably Cape Cod or so in the Massachusetts area, we have a severe weather risk........Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.

Unknown 0:00Good morning everyone. It is Thursday morning April 21. And an update on the storm system that's going to be affecting North Dakota over the weekend we have two to three waves of precipitation that's going to be moving through. The first one comes in tonight, which would be generally light frozen precipitation for Northern locations, Southern locations, probably some light rain, maybe also some frozen precipitation then we have some light drizzle that moves through for the rest of the day. That one doesn't really count for an area of precipitation. Or at least that's not what I was referring to. Then we have two bands to different waves of precipitation that move through each one potentially if it would fall as snow each one would be six to 12 inches. However the first one is not expected to fall as snow. The first one is either going to be a rain or freezing rain situation. So there's a potential ice storm which would have great impacts for North Dakota on Shabbos on Saturday, we also have a severe weather outbreak possible Friday night as well for South Central North Dakota and also South Dakota. The primary threat is large hail, there also could be a tornado or two especially in South Dakota. Precipitation that changes over to snow. By Saturday evening by shavitz evening. Spedition rates could be heavy winds are going to be strong. Winds will come strong Saturday night. The winds become strong when this transition to snow takes place. And the chances are six to 12 inches sounds like a very reasonable forecast. Considering you're on the backside of a system that's producing around two inches of rain. So the first half the first inch of rain is not falling and snow. But you figure the second half you get another inch which produces six to 12 inches of snow blizzard or near blizzard conditions expected for Saturday night. This is a major impact event should an ice storm develop on Saturday. The strong winds significantly add to the severity of the impact Saturday night as ice accumulates on trees and power lines. Elsewhere in the Midwest, we have a really warm air that's making its way into the Midwest. Tomorrow we're going to see temperatures in the 80s for the southern Midwest and for the Western Midwest. In fact, even South Dakota temperatures going into the 80s perhaps even low 90s for some locations especially in Nebraska. And then on Shabbos that warm air moves east was north and east affecting Minneapolis, Minnesota, Chicago, Illinois, South Bend Indiana St. Louis will already be under the warm air for from Friday onward. That warmer heads East affecting the east coast by Sunday bringing temperatures well into the 80s perhaps even 90 degrees for Virginia 80s from Washington DC and Baltimore 70s or 80s depending on where they are in regard to the sea breeze where that sea breeze is. Unknown 0:01Good morning, everyone. It is April 21. Thursday. Yeah, Thursday morning. And we have something phenomenal which will be taking place over the next couple of days and I'm not referring to the storm system developing often the Dakotas are actually developing just to the west of that pushing into South Dakota, which will be likely bringing perhaps a snow storm up six to 12 inches for the second half of the weekend. A rain or ice storm, perhaps flooding as well for the first half of the weekend. We're not referring to that, referring to the dew points to the humidity. Take a look at Nebraska for tomorrow we have the dry line which is situated somewhere in Nebraska from the eastern part of the state to the western part of the state. You have the dry line in between. We have dew points in North Platte, Nebraska, going down into the low to mid 20s for tomorrow afternoon. But dew points in the east part in Nebraska in the low to mid 60s, low 60s, perhaps mid 60s. So you wonder how could temperatures in North Platte Nebraska get into the 90s? Well, that's why the air is so dry, the sun is super efficient and heating things up. In eastern Nebraska, we also might see temperatures very close to 90. What's going on in eastern Nebraska is a lot more impressive. Really, once you look at the dew point, it's a lot more impressive than what's going on in western Nebraska. You have dew points in the low 60s. And still temperatures are forecast to make it very close to 90 degrees. Even though dew points are 40 degrees higher in eastern Nebraska. That's something really phenomenal. You know, if you look at let's take a city in the summertime like St. Louis, Missouri, and you look at the days when it hit that say 104 degrees such as August 17, back in 2003, or 2004, I believe. You take a look at that and you'll see 2003 2003 Let's say you take a look at that. And you'll see how temperature the dew point temperatures were in the 60s in the morning, temperatures were whatever they were. And right before as the temperatures were going way up to 104. The dew points were dropping quickly, probably about one or two degrees per every degree Fahrenheit went up. So perhaps even two degrees. So you have it's very significant. Dew point is a form of energy just like temperature, so the dew point drops, all that energy gets transferred into the temperature, the temperature goes up so you have a 40 degree difference in dew point, you would think there would be an enormous difference in temperature as well. You would think it would be something like what happens in Texas, Houston, Texas, you'll have highs in the mid 90s Rio Grande village, Texas you have a high about 110 degrees. Sometimes even hotter, you have a 15 degree difference between the two cities. One city is getting blasted with humidity off the Gulf of Mexico and talk about being blessed with humidity. The real city that gets blasted with humidity is Galveston, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas, when it gets humid, those are really the most though the humidity in those places is really top notch in this country even higher than South Florida on the weather map tomorrow. Even in Florida dew points are only going to be around 60 degrees, that until you enter the Miami area, then you start to approach 70 degrees. If you look at the Midwest, it's not just eastern Nebraska, the whole Midwest, even Louisiana, two points in the low 60s, low 60s. That's what it shows on the windy.com European computer model, whatever version of European computer model that is, that's what it shows for the dew points for tomorrow, that thing tends to be pretty accurate. That's what I've noticed. So you have the dew points down there, right around 60 degrees. I don't know why they're so low, perhaps the water temperatures just haven't heated up yet. Or maybe the wind flow is not really off the Gulf yet, although they it will be so but in any case, you have dew points in the low 60s by the Gulf states those dew points, the air moves north and the dew points remain in the low 60s, even by St. Louis and it remains in the low 60s, even for eastern Nebraska. But actually it's even higher my draycote We're holding on a higher level than that. Because the dew points actually don't just remain in the low 60s. When you get north of St. Louis the dew points actually start to rise into the mid 60s. You'll see dew points 6667 degrees in an actually corresponds to the Corn Belt, the Midwest Corn Belt. Now what's shocking to me the big finish over here. What's the shocker roo there's a tremendous shocker over here, or is there even corn this time of the year is there corn being grown in the fields yet? I don't know. I don't really know. In the summertime This is a normal occurrence. If you have air off of the Gulf of Mexico affecting Iowa, the dew points are going to be highest in Iowa in this country. Dew points go way up. You have dew points. The only area you can get dew points in the 80s in this country besides every now and then in Galveston, Texas, or you know once in a while here and there on the Gulf Coast. In Iowa you'll get dew points well past 80 degrees sometimesUnknown 5:00This past summer a dew point hit 86 degrees in some city in Iowa. That's Persian Gulf stuff. This is Persian Gulf territory where the water temperatures in the Persian Gulf are in the mid 90s. So you have air blowing off of that water, you have dew points in the mid 80s. But the cornfields, the cornfields really push those dew points up, because the cornfields are not restricted by water temperature, and therefore, it can go up and up and they transmit an enormous amount of moisture into the air. The question is, what about now? Are there cornfields? Right now? Why are the dew points higher in Iowa, in places right around the Corn Belt, according to tomorrow's weather map? Why is that? So? Perhaps if there were cornfields dew points would be even higher. But maybe there's, I don't know, I don't know why the dew points are higher, but you have dew points of 60 degrees, which will be going up even into Minnesota by the time you get the Shabbos. And the dew points start to drop in the St. Louis area. By the time you reach up, it's not big time, just slightly lower dew points in the upper 50s. And the East Coast never really makes it into the 60s and dew points in the 60s for the East Coast. By the way for the East Coast. You have really warm weather coming to you for Friday. That's the weather that's over here in the Midwest for especially. Yes, that's the weather here in the Midwest, in the Midwest shot in this weather, the explanation, this weather? You know, there's a strong question that someone could ask a cold front just went through in the Chicago area. So why in the world is it 10 to 15 degrees warmer than it was yesterday? So the answer one answer is that the Yeah, the cold air aloft temperatures, meteorologists love to measure temperatures that 5000 feet above the surface, because the computer models seem to have an accurate picture of that. That's what the many of the National Weather Service Forecast discussions. I've seen that before. But the problem is, how does that translate to surface temperatures. So when you have a strong sun like you do today, the ultraviolet index in Chicago is a seven powerful sun. So you're gonna get temperatures which are gonna go way up to 70 degrees, even warmer than that, perhaps. And on the East Coast. That's what's headed to the East Coast tomorrow. If you should get a downslope wind in the Baltimore area downloads, the Blue Ridge Mountains, you're gonna get temperatures even warmer than whatever those computer models say that happens sometimes. I've been there when that happened when you have temperatures that are forecast to be low 70s. I think it was a day in December, actually, if the winds come off the mountains and just the right way, for Baltimore, it has to be just the right way. Temperatures actually went up into the low 80s. So you see stuff like that. Anyways, then we have a little bit of a cooldown for the east coast on Shabbos. Not too bad, but the real warmth comes in on Sunday, temperatures go well into the 80s for many locations, for especially Virginia, Washington, DC, Baltimore, it's I think it's gonna go into the ad Sunday, but there are other forecasts for Baltimore, winds may come in off the ocean and bring those temperatures down for areas and coastal cities. You know, I think if that doesn't happen, I think it's gonna happen after Baltimore's already reached 80 degrees, at least for Sunday. And then you have that front that is going to move through associated with a strong storm system up in the Dakotas, which might even the barometric pressure of that storm might even drop below 29 At some point, so it's really strong. You have temperatures in the 80s for South Dakota on Friday, within just a few miles of the area, which is getting a foot of snow, and even the area getting a foot of snow in the Black Hills, maybe even more than a foot of snow verse, Saturday night and Sunday, even for that area. Temperatures still reaching the 60s, Friday afternoon. That place is jam packed with snow. They have a snowpack already heavy snowpack all over the place over there. And it's really quite interesting. The whole situation that's going on in the Dakotas is as fascinating as can be a storm after storm affects that area. You know, if you're living there, hopefully you love the snow.Unknown 9:20But you know, if you don't, if you don't realize it is April and things change just like that, and they are changing just like that. You have places which are just like that going into the 60s, even though there's enormous amounts of snow on the ground. If it wasn't for the snow, those temperatures would be in the 80s they would be in the 80s If it wasn't for the snow.Unknown 9:41You know, I It's the snow in a certain way. It's ruining the media headlines.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.

Or maybe the wind flow is not really off the Gulf yet, although they it will be so but in any case, you have dew points in the low 60s by the Gulf states those...Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.

The Storm That Crossed Three States: The Tri-State Tornado of 1925On March 18, 1925, a tornado touched down near Ellington, Missouri and spent the next three and a half hours carving a 219-mile path of destruction through southeastern Missouri, southern Illinois, and southwestern Indiana. It remains the deadliest single tornado in recorded American history.IN THIS EPISODE:This episode tells the full story of the Tri-State Tornado — from the quiet Tuesday afternoon when it appeared without warning, through the obliteration of Murphysboro, De Soto, Gorham, West Frankfort, and dozens of other communities, to the haunting aftermath that changed how America thinks about weather preparedness. Personal stories, eyewitness accounts, and the legacy this storm left behind.KEY FACTS:- Date: March 18, 1925- Path: Ellington, Missouri → southern Illinois → southwestern Indiana- Path length: 219 miles — longest continuous tornado track ever recorded- Duration: approximately 3.5 hours on the ground- Width: up to 1 mile across- Speed: up to 62 miles per hour- Estimated intensity: EF5 (winds exceeding 200 mph)- Fatalities: 695 — the most deaths from a single tornado in U.S. history- Injuries: 2,027- Homes destroyed: 15,000- Counties impacted: 13 across three states- Deaths in Murphysboro, IL alone: 234 — a record for any single community from a tornado- Deaths at De Soto, IL school: 33 — a record for any U.S. school tornado- Gorham, IL: 100% of structures destroyed- Towns of Parrish, IL and Griffin, IN essentially wiped from the mapMETEOROLOGICAL DETAILS:The tornado began as a classic supercell in Missouri and transitioned to a high-precipitation mode in Illinois and Indiana. Witnesses described a massive wedge tornado — rain-wrapped and so low and wide that many did not recognize it as a tornado until it was upon them. In 1925, there was no tornado warning system, no weather radar, and no public sirens. The storm's death toll was magnified by the complete absence of any advance warning.LEGACY:The Tri-State Tornado directly contributed to growing pressure on meteorologists and government officials to develop better storm detection and public warning infrastructure. It took decades and many more tragedies before the National Weather Service tornado warning network came into being — but the memory of March 18, 1925 drove that work forward.SOURCES FOR FURTHER READING:- National Weather Service Paducah — 1925 Tornado: https://www.weather.gov/pah/1925Tornado- E-Journal of Severe Storms Meteorology — The 1925 Tri-State Tornado Damage Path: https://ejssm.com/ojs/index.php/site/article/view/47- Illinois State Museum — The Tri-State Tornado: Tragedy and Resilience: https://www.emuseum.org/exhibitions/the-tri-state-tornado-tragedy-and-resilience- NWS Meteorological Analysis (PDF): https://www.weather.gov/media/pah/1925 Tornado/Maddox etal TriStateMeteor.pdfHASHTAGS:#weather #tornado #history #TriStateTornado #1925 #extremeweather #weatherhistory #Illinois #Missouri #Indiana #WeatherWithEnthusiasm #KolSimchaProductionsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.Weather with Enthusiasm is produced by Kol Simcha Productions.New episodes drop daily — a morning forecast at 7 AM and a historical weather deep-dive at 3 PM.Contact: [email protected] content is thoroughly researched and factually verified. What happens when two witnesses testify about a murder — and then other witnesses prove they couldn't have been there? In this shiur, we dive into the fascinating halacha of Eidim Zomemim, using a vivid example: Reuven and Shimon claim they saw Jack kill Jill on top of Mount Trashmore in Evanston — but Levi and Yehuda prove they were in Atlantic City that very day. The Torah's chiddush, rooted in a pasuk in Shmos and unpacked through the Gemara's darshanim, is striking: not only is the original testimony nullified, but the witnesses themselves become pasul retroactively — disqualified as edim, not just disbelieved. Why does the Torah tell us to believe the latter witnesses over the former, even without logical reason to do so? The answer will change how you think about eidus forever.Timestamps:0:00 - Introduction & announcements0:45 - Introducing the sugya: What is Eidim Zomemim?1:30 - The Jack and Jill case: Reuven and Shimon testify in Beis Din3:00 - Setting the scene: Mount Trashmore, August 13th, the Chicago Beis Din4:15 - Levi and Yehuda's hazamah: "You were with us in Atlantic City"5:30 - The core question: Are Reuven and Shimon pasul only from now, or retroactively?6:30 - The Torah's chiddush: why we believe the latter witnesses (Gezeiras HaKasov)8:00 - The pasuk from Shmos (23:1) — Rav Aryeh Kaplan's Living Torah translation9:15 - The Gemara's darshan: edim convicted of sheker become pasul l'eidus entirely10:45 - The stunning conclusion: they're not just disbelieved — they are eidei sheker11:45 - Summary and closing thoughts#torahlearning #jewishpodcast #talmud #halacha #eidimzomemim #hazamah #falswitnesses #jewishlaw #shiur #dafyomi #mishnahtorah #rambam #gemara #beitdin #torahwithsimcha #jewishwisdom #orthodoxjewish #parshaweek #torahclass #jewishlifeBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/torah-with-simcha--4985090/support.Torah with Simcha is produced by Kol Simcha Productions.New episodes released regularly — exploring Torah, Jewish thought, and the wisdom that connects ancient text to everyday life.Contact: [email protected] is shared for educational, spiritual, and inspirational purposes. The Case for Bikor Cholim: Min Hatorah or Derabanan? Timestamp Breakdown:0:00-0:59: Introduction: The question of whether Bikor Cholim (visiting the sick) is a Mitzvah min Hatorah (from the Torah) or Derabanan (rabbinic). Discussing four sources for Bikor Cholim, including Yisro's Tosefta.0:59-1:27: Initial Conclusion: Based on the presented sources, Bikor Cholim would seem to be min Hatorah.1:27-2:22: The Rambam's Stance: The Rambam writes that these things are derabanan, despite seeming to be min Hatorah.2:22-3:07: Rambam's First Reason: The source for these mitzvahs (like Bikor Cholim) is not direct torah text, but through Kabbalah Almadivre Seferim (tradition from rabbinic writings).3:07-4:10: Rambam's Second Reason: Things learned through rabbinic drash (interpretive exposition) are considered derabanan, not min Hatorah. Only explicit psukim (verses) constitute mitzvos min Hatorah.4:10-5:30: The Ramban's Disagreement: The Ramban argues with the Rambam, stating that learning from drasha should still make it min Hatorah. He also argues against deriving Bikor Cholim solely from Gmilus Chasadim (acts of kindness).5:30-6:20: Ramban's Further Argument: The Ramban points out that the Rambam himself holds that acting like Hashem (rachum and chanun) is min Hatorah, and Bikor Cholim is an expression of this.6:20-7:26: Who's Listening? Megillas Esther: A humorous interjection about Megillas Esther's unexpected presence in the discussion, highlighting its connection to the Rambam's explanation.7:26-8:15: Chazal's View on Ahavta V'turichalim: Chazal (the Sages) do not explicitly connect Ahavta V'turichalim (love your neighbor as yourself) to Bikor Cholim as a commandment, suggesting it's not a direct mitzvah.8:15-9:20: Rambam's Nuance: While Bikor Cholim might be derabanan in its specific commandment, fulfilling it grants one the merit of the min Hatorah mitzvah of V'ahavta L'rei'acha Kamocha. The Rambam distinguishes between the source of the mitzvah and its explicit counting.9:20-10:22: Reconciling Rambam's Words: The Rambam's writings imply that things learned from psukim via drash are indeed min Hatorah, but he distinguishes this when counting the 613 mitzvos.10:22-11:12: Another Interpretation of Rambam: The Rambam might mean that the mitzvah is implicitly in the Torah, and the Chachamim (Sages) reveal the hints and specifics.11:12-12:11: Rav Chisda's Perspective: Rav Chisda aligns with the Magnisatova, asserting that Bikor Cholim is min Hatorah, and the Rambam's specific terms are for detail and naming conventions.12:11-13:00: Rabbeinu Yonah and Kriat Shema: Rabbeinu Yonah explains that Kriat Shema is fostered (exempted) from a Menachem Avel (comforter of mourners) because the latter is included in Gmilus Chasadim, which is min Hatorah.13:00-13:58: Rabbeinu Yonah vs. Rambam on Kriat Shema: The Rambam explains the exemption from Kriat Shema due to a lack of kavanah (intention) during a busy period, not because Bikor Cholim is min Hatorah. However, the Bahag views Bikor Cholim as a mitzvah min Hatorah.13:58-14:14: Transition: The next discussion will be on the reasons for the mitzvah.20 Hashtags: #BikorCholim #Mitzvah #MinHatorah #Derabanan #Rambam #Ramban #JewishLaw #Halacha #GmilusChasadim #Talmud #Yeshiva #Hanukkah #JewishLearning #TorahStudy #RabbinicInterpretation #JewishTradition #KriatShema #JewishPhilosophy #LearningJudaism #AskTheRabbiBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/torah-with-simcha--4985090/support.Torah with Simcha is produced by Kol Simcha Productions.New episodes released regularly — exploring Torah, Jewish thought, and the wisdom that connects ancient text to everyday life.Contact: [email protected] is shared for educational, spiritual, and inspirational purposes. THE GREAT WHITE HURRICANE: The Blizzard of 1888Weather With Enthusiasm | Kol Simcha ProductionsEpisode 1─────────────────────────────────────────────────On the morning of March 12, 1888, New York City woke up to what seemed like an ordinary Monday. The temperature had been 50 degrees the day before. By dawn, everything had changed. In this episode, we cover one of the most catastrophic and consequential weather events in American history — the Great Blizzard of 1888, also known as the Great White Hurricane. Over three days, this storm killed more than 400 people along the Eastern Seaboard, stranded 15,000 commuters on elevated train lines above the frozen streets of Manhattan, and buried the city under snowdrifts that reached the second and third stories of buildings — with the highest recorded drift in Gravesend, Brooklyn reaching 52 feet.We tell the story of Roscoe Conkling — one of the most powerful politicians in America — who refused to take a cab home and paid for it with his life. We explore how the blizzard exposed the fatal vulnerability of New York's tangled web of above-ground telegraph lines and elevated railways. And we trace the direct line from this storm to one of the greatest infrastructure decisions in American history: the construction of the New York City subway. This is the story of the storm that built a city.─────────────────────────────────────────────────WHAT YOU'LL HEAR IN THIS EPISODE:• How a 50-degree March Sunday became a whiteout by Monday morning — and why no one saw it coming• The 15,000 commuters stranded on elevated train lines above the frozen streets, and the entrepreneurs who charged 50 cents a person to climb down to safety• The cobweb of telegraph and telephone wires above Manhattan — and how the blizzard tore it all down• The story of Roscoe Conkling's fatal three-hour walk through the storm• The record 52-foot snowdrift in Gravesend, Brooklyn• How the New York Stock Exchange closed for two days — and wouldn't close for weather again until Hurricane Sandy in 2012• The 24 million cubic yards of snow that had to be removed by hand• How the blizzard directly led to the construction of the New York City subway, opening in 1904─────────────────────────────────────────────────KEY FACTS:• Date: March 12–14, 1888• Region: Eastern United States — New York City, New England, Mid-Atlantic• Deaths: More than 400 (approximately 200 in New York City alone)• Ships lost: More than 200 grounded or wrecked in New York Harbor• Maximum snowfall: 50+ inches in parts of Connecticut• Highest snowdrift recorded: 52 feet, Gravesend, Brooklyn• Wind speeds: Up to 80 mph• Temperature drop: Nearly 40 degrees overnight from March 11 to 12• New York subway groundbreaking: 1900 — directly influenced by the blizzard─────────────────────────────────────────────────SOURCES & FURTHER READING:• "The Blizzard of '88" by Mary Cable (1988)• National Weather Service — Historic Blizzard of 1888: weather.gov• New York Times archive coverage, March 1888• "Roscoe Conkling of New York" by David M. We explore why certain actions, like divination and witchcraft, are labeled as disgusting, and how this understanding illuminates the story of Shaul HaMelech and the Witch of Ein Dor.Episode Breakdown:00:06: Introduction to Gimmel Elul and Parshas Shoftim.00:27: Examining "Or Hachaim" on Parshas Shoftim, Perakim Yud Ches.00:41: The Torah's command against acting like "disgusting nations."00:50: The meaning of "you should not learn to act" and the role of the Sanhedrin.01:33: Defining "To'evas" (abominations) such as child sacrifice and divination.02:39: Rashi's interpretation of "Ma' Onain" (astrologer) and various forms of witchcraft.03:05: How these "disgusting things" led to Klal Yisrael inheriting Eretz Yisrael.04:14: The central question: What makes these practices "disgusting" – a term rarely used for Torah prohibitions like killing?05:14: Debunking the idea that knowing the future is inherently disgusting.05:33: The argument that seeking future knowledge indicates a lack of bitachon (trust in God).06:12: Why the bitachon argument isn't entirely true (prophets, Urim V'Tumim, science).07:13: Distinguishing between weather forecasts via meteorology vs. astrology.08:21: The core question revisited: What makes astrology so disgusting it warrants expulsion from the land?09:26: Proposed answer: These activities lead to disgusting behavior and remove personal responsibility.10:30: Example: Pharaoh's astrologers and his decree against Jewish baby boys.11:36: Shaul HaMelech's story: Consulting the Witch of Ein Dor after Shmuel's death.13:19: Or Hachaim's interpretation of Shaul's reasoning based on an "extra" word in the Torah.15:29: Shaul's justification: If God doesn't answer through prophets, then consulting witches is permissible.16:35: Shaul's fear, his desire to consult Shmuel, and the use of impure means.17:35: Shaul's earlier decree against witchcraft and his current dilemma.18:36: Shaul's disguise and visit to the Ba'alas Ov (Witch of Ein Dor).19:38: The witch's reaction and the appearance of Shmuel (head first).20:41: The witch's realization that Hashem, not her, brought Shmuel.21:42: Shaul's conversation with Shmuel and its implication: consulting a Navi, not the dead.22:42: Chazal's teaching: Shmuel's advice to Shaul about dying in battle for atonement.23:45: Shaul's decision to go to war and achieve Olam Haba.24:04: The crucial difference: Consulting impurity leads to horrific crimes; consulting a Navi leads to guidance.25:06: Conclusion: Navi leads to positive behavior, impurity to destructive behavior.26:08: The importance of seeking Das Torah (Torah wisdom) and Shaul's reward.27:12: Hypothetical: Astrologers predicting climate change vs. scientists.28:14: The potential for violence and extreme measures if astrologers made such predictions.28:57: Why science leads to logic and considering variables (e.g., starvation vs. fossil fuels).29:32: The changing nature of scientific belief versus the unwavering pull of astrology in the past.30:33: The current state of impurity and its influence on billions of people.31:36: Science as a form of "astrology" (predictions often wrong, e.g., weather forecasts).32:38: The difference: science allows for logic and consideration, impurity leads to extremism.33:46: Reaffirming that "To'eiva" signifies actions leading to disgusting behavior.34:18: Anecdote about holy scholars and their Torah learning affecting reality (e.g., the cow story).35:19: Torah as the blueprint of the world and the living nature of Torah Sheba'al Peh.36:22: The necessity of a Rebbe to understand Gemara and keep Torah Sheba'al Peh alive.36:36: Final thought: Torah is reality, the world is a result.#ParshasShoftim #TorahWisdom #JewishLearning #OrHachaim #Toeva #Impurity #ShaulHamelech #ShmuelHanavi #AstrologyInJudaism #Prophecy #Bitachon #DivineGuidance #MoralDilemmas #JewishHistory #BiblicalLessons #EthicsInJudaism #KlalYisrael #Spirituality #Responsibility #DasTorahBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/torah-with-simcha--4985090/support.Torah with Simcha is produced by Kol Simcha Productions.New episodes released regularly — exploring Torah, Jewish thought, and the wisdom that connects ancient text to everyday life.Contact: [email protected] is shared for educational, spiritual, and inspirational purposes. "The Storm That Erased a City: Galveston, 1900"A Kol Simcha Productions Podcast: On the morning of September 8, 1900, the 38,000 residents of Galveston, Texas woke up to enormous, thrilling waves — and went to the beach to watch them. By nightfall, at least 8,000 of them were dead. The 1900 Galveston Hurricane remains the deadliest natural disaster in the history of the United States — more than five times deadlier than Hurricane Katrina. This is the full story: the arrogance that left a city defenseless, the physics of storm surge that swallowed an island whole, the eyewitness accounts of survival and loss, and the breathtaking engineering comeback that followed. In this episode, we cover:Why Galveston in 1900 was one of the most important cities in America — the "New York of the South" and the "Wall Street of the Southwest"How the island's maximum elevation of just 8.7 feet above sea level made it catastrophically vulnerableIsaac Cline, the Weather Bureau chief who called the idea of a damaging Galveston hurricane "a crazy idea" — nine years before one arrivedHow Cuban forecasters saw the storm coming and warned U.S. meteorologists — and how those warnings were suppressed by the bureau's director, Willis MooreA minute-by-minute account of September 8, 1900, including the 4-foot surge in 4 seconds at 7:30 p.m., documented by Isaac Cline in his own firsthand reportHow floating debris became battering rams, destroying city blocks in a chain reactionThe engineering marvel that followed: a 17-foot seawall and raising an entire city on hand-turned jackscrewsWhy Galveston lost its crown to Houston — and never got it backWhat this storm teaches us about storm surge, dismissed warnings, and hurricane preparedness todayTimestamps0:00 — Cold Open: September 8, 19001:30 — Welcome to Weather With Enthusiasm3:00 — Galveston: The New York of the South6:00 — The Storm Builds: Science & Arrogance9:30 — September 8 — Hour by Hour14:00 — The Aftermath17:00 — What Science Learned19:30 — Outro & What's NextKey Facts From This EpisodeThe 1900 Galveston Hurricane made landfall on September 8, 1900 as a Category 4 stormStorm surge: approximately 15.7 feet — on an island with a maximum elevation of 8.7 feetEstimated wind speeds: 120–140 mph (the anemometer blew off at 6:15 p.m. after recording 100 mph)Death toll: a minimum of 6,000; most estimates cite 8,000–10,000; some reach 12,000Isaac Cline's 1891 Galveston Daily News article called a damaging hurricane "a crazy idea"The 4-foot-in-4-seconds surge at 7:30 p.m. is documented in Cline's own Monthly Weather Review reportThe Galveston Seawall: 17 feet high, 3.3 miles long at completion on July 29, 1904More than 2,000 structures were raised on hand-turned jackscrews; the island grade was elevated up to 17 feetThe seawall proved itself in the 1909 and 1915 hurricanes — the 1915 storm killed 8 people, versus thousands in 1900Sources & Further ReadingIsaac M. In this episode— a 591 dam pressure ridge pressing down on the Mid-South, a nearly simultaneous Arctic outbreak in Alaska, triple-digit readings at the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert, a restless tropical Gulf, and heat in Iran that is pushing the boundaries of human survivability [1]. This is the kind of week that makes weather enthusiasts lean forward [1].What You'll LearnHow to read a pressure ridge — what 500 mb heights like 588, 591, and 594 dam actually mean for surface temperatures, and why meteorologists treat these thresholds as mental benchmarks rather than hard rules [2].Why Fairbanks and Big Bend are living in different seasons simultaneously — a 505 dam Arctic low is dropping late-season snow in the Brooks Range while Rio Grande Village, TX hits 110–111°F [2].The Bermuda High's role in Mid-Atlantic heat — how a semi-permanent subtropical high is funneling heat and humidity toward Baltimore, Washington, and the I-95 corridor [2].Two major models agree on Gulf tropical development — what GFS and ECMWF are showing and why it matters even before any tropical cyclone forms [3].The global heat context — India and Pakistan surpassing 46°C, Houston heat indices in the mid-to-upper 100s, and Shushtar, Iran forecast to reach 127°F on June 14, with AccuWeather confirming dangerous multi-day extreme heat [3]. The University of Sydney's 35°C wet-bulb threshold for human survivability is not a distant theoretical concern this week [3].The humidity divide — Dubai's suffocating 65–71°F dewpoints versus Phoenix's 20–30°F dewpoints, and why that difference matters more than raw temperature when assessing heat danger [3].Listener City Forecasts CoveredChicago, St. Louis, Lakewood NJ, Baltimore, New York City, Denver, Dallas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Atlanta [4].International Cities FeaturedTel Aviv, Dubai, and Shushtar, Iran [4].Voice Cast- AIBrian — lead male voice [4]Sarah — female voice [5]Adam — male voice [5]Rachel — female voice [5]Matilda — female voice [5]Weather With Enthusiasm uses a multi-voice AI-assisted format for select episodes. What if the deadliest pandemic in human history was partly triggered by a volcanic eruption no one knew about? In this bonus episode, we trace the climate chain that led from an unidentified tropical volcano in 1345 to crop failures across Europe, desperate grain traders sailing into plague territory, and ultimately the Black Death — which killed 40 to 60 percent of Europe's population between 1347 and 1353. All facts in this episode are drawn from peer-reviewed research, including a December 2025 study published in Communications Earth & Environment. ⏱️ TIMESTAMP BREAKDOWN [00:00] Introduction — Weather and the deadliest pandemic in history [00:45] What most people know about the Black Death [01:30] The climate connection most people don't know [02:15] The Medieval Warm Period ends — and the Little Ice Age begins [03:00] The Great Famine of 1315–1317 — heavy rains, rotting crops, millions dead [04:00] Tree ring and ice core evidence — three cold, wet summers before the plague [05:00] Medieval physicians record the abnormal weather in 1348 [05:30] The volcanic cooling of 1345 and the grain trade chain reaction [06:15] Central Asian rodent boom and collapse — how the bacterium reached Europe [07:00] The full chain from volcano to plague — what the research shows [07:25] Closing reflection #WeatherWithEnthusiasm #BlackDeath #ClimateHistory #Plague #MedievalWeather #LittleIceAge #YersiniaPestis #HistoricalWeather #VolcanicWinter #ClimateScience #PodcastHistory #WeatherPodcast #ExtremWeather #MedievalHistory #ClimateAndDisease #HistoryPodcast #SciencePodcast #NaturalDisaster #GreatFamine #WeatherAndHistoryBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.Weather with Enthusiasm is produced by Kol Simcha Productions.New episodes drop daily — a morning forecast at 9 AM and a historical weather deep-dive at 3 PM.Contact: [email protected] content is thoroughly researched and factually verified. Rising toward the 70s by next week (oppressive/tropical). NWS notes precipitable water approaching 2 inches — 99th climatological percentile.BERMUDA HIGHThe Bermuda-Azores High is actively pumping warm, humid Gulf of Mexico air northward into the Mississippi Valley. The clockwise circulation around this semi-permanent high pressure system (center ~1020–1025 mb over the western Atlantic) is the primary driver of southerly flow into St. Louis.HOTTEST MIDWEST AREAS TODAYSouthern Plains states (Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska) are seeing the highest temperatures today. St. Louis (mid-80s today) is on the warmer side but the big heat builds Friday–Saturday with highs of 90–92°F and heat index values near 100°F.CORN BELT HUMIDITY (Corn Sweat)Early-season evapotranspiration from corn crops across Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and northeastern Missouri is contributing to regional humidity. Peak corn sweat occurs July–August at tasseling, but crop transpiration is already adding moisture to the regional atmosphere. Combined with Gulf moisture transport, this is driving dew points toward the 70s by next week.LOW-LEVEL JET STREAM (Nocturnal Acceleration)Surface winds will calm tonight as the boundary layer decouples after sunset, but the Low-Level Jet at 1,000–3,000 feet above the ground will accelerate — potentially reaching 30–60 mph overnight while the surface remains calm. The LLJ is pumping Gulf moisture northward and fueling the MCS (mesoscale convective system) tracking northeast from Kansas/Nebraska overnight toward St. Louis.OZARK PLATEAU DOWNSLOPE WINDSWinds descending off the Ozark Plateau (1,000–2,000 ft elevation across southern Missouri and northern Arkansas) undergo adiabatic warming as they sink toward the Mississippi River valley — adding warmth to the St. Louis area. The Missouri and Mississippi River valleys, the Missouri Bootheel, and southwestern Illinois are most impacted by this effect.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━KIDS ACTIVITIES — St. Louis Metro, June 4━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━Check the episode for today's family-friendly activities in the St. Louis metro area including the Saint Louis Zoo, City Museum, Missouri Botanical Garden, and more.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━COMMUNITY━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━Shoutout to Epstein Hebrew Academy and the Orthodox Jewish communities of University City and Chesterfield. And on June 4, 1877, an F4 tornado tore through Mt. The tornado destroyed 20 businesses and 100 homes, killing at least 16 people and injuring 100 more. In that era, there were no radar systems, no storm warnings, and no forecasting infrastructure — communities had no warning whatsoever. The Okeechobee Hurricane of 1928: The Night the Water CameEPISODE SUMMARYOn the night of September 16–17, 1928, one of the deadliest hurricanes in American history struck South Florida. The storm — already responsible for over 300 deaths in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean — made landfall near West Palm Beach as a powerful Category 4 hurricane with 145 mph winds. The coastal destruction was severe, but the true catastrophe lay fifty miles inland, where the storm's winds drove the waters of Lake Okeechobee over and through its inadequate earthen dikes. The floodwaters swept across a 75-mile stretch of flat agricultural land, killing at least 2,500 people — most of them poor Black migrant farm workers who had no warning and nowhere to go.WHAT YOU'LL HEARA narrative-driven account of the storm's path from the eastern Atlantic through Puerto Rico and into South Florida. The episode covers the failure of the Lake Okeechobee levee, the devastating flood of the Glades communities, the tragic racial dimensions of the disaster and its aftermath, and the long-delayed recognition of the victims. Closes with the hurricane's lasting legacy: the Herbert Hoover Dike, the federal takeover of South Florida water management, and Zora Neale Hurston's novel Their Eyes Were Watching God.KEY FACTS- Date of Florida landfall: September 16–17, 1928- Landfall location: Near West Palm Beach, Florida- Category at landfall: Category 4 (145 mph sustained winds)- Puerto Rico landfall: September 13, 1928 — Category 5 (the only Category 5 on record to hit Puerto Rico)- Deaths in Puerto Rico: 312- Deaths in the United States: At least 2,500 (NHC official estimate); some estimates exceed 3,000- Total storm deaths (Caribbean + US): Estimated over 4,000- Estimated damage (US): $25 million in 1928 dollars (~$16 billion today)- Lake Okeechobee depth: Average 9 feet (extraordinarily shallow for its size — 30 miles across)- Flood area: Approximately 6 miles deep x 75 miles long south of the lake- Victims: Approximately 75% were non-white migrant farm workers- Aftermath: Bodies disposed of in mass graves and burned on pyres; Black victims' grave went unmarked until 2003- Legacy: Herbert Hoover Dike constructed; Army Corps of Engineers took over South Florida water managementSOURCES- NOAA/NWS Miami: https://www.weather.gov/mfl/okeechobee- NOAA AOML 90th Anniversary: https://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hurricane blog/90th-anniversary-of-lake-okeechobee-hurricane/- Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1928 Okeechobee hurricane- PBS American Experience: https://www.pbs.org/video/swamp-okeechobee-hurricane-1928-qjcyfd/- National Hurricane Center — Deadliest US Hurricanes (Blake et al., 2011)HASHTAGS#Okeechobee #Hurricane1928 #WeatherHistory #SanFelipe #FloridaHistory #NaturalDisaster #ExtremeWeather #WeatherWithEnthusiasm #KolSimchaProductions #LakeOkeechobee #HerbertHooverDikeBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.Weather with Enthusiasm is produced by Kol Simcha Productions.New episodes drop daily — a morning forecast at 7 AM and a historical weather deep-dive at 3 PM.Contact: [email protected] content is thoroughly researched and factually verified. The Unbelievable Van Story: A Tale of Faith and MiraclesTimestamp Breakdown:00:00-01:08: Introduction to an unbelievable story, relating it to the miracle of Shabbos Hagadol and the previous year's miracle in Israel.01:09-03:11: The connection between Shabbos and miracles, specifically the story of the Paschal lamb in Egypt and the Egyptians' silence.03:12-04:16: Different types of miracles, contrasting open miracles with hidden miracles (like Purim) and their inspiring messages.04:17-06:23: The importance of believing in divine intervention (Hashgacha Pratis) and how it empowers us to attempt seemingly impossible tasks.06:24-09:39: Two personal stories illustrating the "do it for 10 minutes" approach when faced with impossible situations, emphasizing our effort (Hishtadlus) and God doing the rest.09:40-11:51: The beginning of the van story: discovering the van is missing and speculating on possibilities (stolen, towed, or daughter drove it).11:52-14:59: The wife's visit to the police station and the shocking phone call from a woman who found the stolen van, hot-wired, with the wife's contact info.15:00-17:08: The "Tevadicker" (natural) reason for the van's theft (a Kia vulnerability) and the amazing "Hashkacha" (Divine Providence) involved in its discovery.17:09-19:17: The unbelievable twist: the van is stolen again from the parking lot, and the police's dismissive reaction.19:18-22:37: Reflections on the repeated theft, the clear sign of divine intervention, and the meaning of "best possible outcome" (Kedushas Hashem, financial loss vs. human life).22:38-25:42: Introspection and the question of Hishtadlus (effort) vs. trusting in God, with a reference to a Gemara regarding learning Torah.25:43-29:57: The decision to search for the van again, considering different strategies (neighborhood search, relying on a child's "Ruach Hakodesh").29:58-33:07: The influence of Rav Chaim Tversky's teaching on connecting all observations to divine messages, leading to a search around Warren Park based on a Shabbos announcement.33:08-37:25: The use of AI (WhatsApp police character) for advice on finding the van, generating specific locations and strategies.37:26-40:38: The idea of using the car's remote panic button to locate the van, following AI's specific instructions.40:39-41:40: The successful discovery of the van, still intact with license plates and even a special Chumash, further highlighting the Hashgacha.41:41-47:59: The complications of retrieving the van: non-functional key, insurance requirements, potential danger from the criminal, and the bizarre interaction with the tow truck driver and police.48:00-49:59: The criminal's confrontation with the tow truck driver, the van's eventual towing, and the "inconvenience" leading to deeper reflection.50:00-57:36: The most important part of the story: the power of prayer, specifically the child's heartfelt Tehillim (Psalms) with Kavanah (intention) that ultimately led to the van's discovery. The contrast between the first and second search.57:37-59:59: Concluding thoughts on the meaning of "luck," the ongoing nature of the story, the connection to the month of Nissan and its inherent miracles, and the importance of drawing strength from such events.20 Hashtags: #HashgachaPratis #DivineProvidence #MiracleStory #StolenVan #JewishFaith #EmunahAndBitachon #Tehillim #PowerOfPrayer #ShabbosHagadol #Purim #KiaBoys #InconvenienceToBlessing #KidsPrayers #KiddushHashem #Chumash #SpiritualGrowth #UnexpectedTwist #NeverGiveUp #LessonsFromLife #NissanMonthBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/torah-with-simcha--4985090/support.

Unknown 0:01Good morning, everyone. It is Sunday, April 24, very early Sunday morning, you've had quite interesting weather that's taking place over this country over the past couple of days. We're going to focus on North Platte, Nebraska over the past couple of days. Let's go back to Friday. High temperature in North Platte, Nebraska says the National Weather Service was a sizzling 97 degrees. That's something absolutely amazing. We also had a relative humidity really low at that time. But the winds were very high. If you look at the National Weather Service, the climatological data that will show that the heat index was only 91 degrees. That's because of the very low relative humidity the very low dew points to temperatures in the upper 40s. However, there is one very important thing to point out over here is that the winds were 31 miles per hour out of the south, that's the sustained winds for 31 miles per hour from the south, it's the 31, the 31 mile power that's very significant here, and that that changes everything, the heat index would have been lower than the temperature as the National Weather Service says based upon the humidity alone. The heat and humidity, the heat index chart is based upon winds assuming the winds are 5.6 miles per hour approximately. So if you were to have that you were to have light winds in North Point in Nebraska on Friday, the temperature would have actually felt like 91 degrees. And that's talking about at a time, that's a time when it was 96 degrees. So when it was 97, let's say the heat index probably was 92 degrees. But there's something else that's not well known. And that's when the winds are really strong, and the temperatures are 95 degrees or higher. The winds will actually make it feel hotter than what it actually is, unless the relative humidity is really high. Or we should say the humidity is really high. If the humidity isn't 100%, the winds will still make it feel cooler, winds ordinarily make it feel cooler, the winter still make you feel cooler, if the relative humidity is really high. It's really complex, because the heat index is going to be way up there, because the relative humidity is really high or you should say the humidity, but the winds are actually going to make that heat index lower than what it would have been. But in a situation when it's dry when the relative humidity is under 40%. Which in North Platte, Nebraska, it was probably around 20% a 30 mile per hour wind is actually going to make it feel hotter outside. Let's go ahead and say for now the temperature probably felt about what it was 97 degrees, maybe it's like 98 degrees. It certainly felt one or two degrees warmer than what the heat index is being reported from the National Weather Service. That heat index again is based upon the heat and humidity. The question is, was it one or two degrees warmer than the temperature or was a one or two degrees warmer than the heat index, that heat index would have been 92 degrees that would have made the new heat index or the real field temperature 94 degrees or was viewfield temperature 98 degrees or 99 degrees that's something that is needs to be looked into currently in North Dakota right now we have a blizzard warning in effect, there's heavy snow that's falling all over the place. We also have an ice storm taking place in that part of the region. This is phenomenal stuff that's going on. The closed LO is filling in therefore the conveyor belt of moisture feeding into the storm system is being caught off right now. However there still is plenty of moisture on the backside of the storm system reports the National Weather Service so the precipitation rates will remain heavy for the remainder of the night through at least mid morning. Snowfall accumulations are going to be way up there for many locations. There's already been a foot of snow in some areas as a 930 This evening earlier this evening. Another 10 to 15 inches is forecasted by mid morning in the storms bull's eye. Before the precipitation starts to die down low pressure system is weakening. But it was a powerhouse. And we're still feeling the effects of that in the heavy precipitation rates. There also has been power outages reported across North Dakota and perhaps even parts of South Dakota and Montana as well. Elsewhere in the country.Unknown 4:39We'll just quickly talk about the east coast we have some really warm air making it up into the mid Atlantic area. This will be affecting Washington DC as temperatures rise into the 80s later today. Baltimore Maryland has a chance also of seeing 80 degree warmth. The thing is however, there is a high pressure system There's two of them. One high pressure system is situated over off the coast of the Mid Atlantic area, perhaps like North Carolina or so. The other one is off the coast of perhaps New Jersey, especially by this afternoon, Sunday afternoon. And depending on what flow Baltimore ends up in, that's going to determine their temperatures are going to be warm weather conditions will be warm by late afternoon or not. And the question is, Will Baltimore managed to hit 80 degrees before the cooler flow? It's the city. I think it will. But not all forecasts agree. Washington DC has a much higher chance of seeing temperatures soar into the mid 80s. But Baltimore, I think will also get into the low 80s. But that is the that's the wildcard Baltimore's forecast is probably the most complex on the East Coast. When you go further north of Baltimore temperatures remain in the low 60s. They will be impacted by that cooler high pressure system up off the Atlantic coast, the northern part of the coast instead of the southern part of the course. Given the potential for thunderstorms they'll move through the Chicago area later on this morning with a possible severe weather risk. Any area along the front is that front moves through the Midwest this morning. Temperatures will likely go into the 70s before the cooler air moves through over a large portion of the Midwest. Temperatures returning into the 80s for Cincinnati, Ohio. Thank you for listening. I wish everyone a wonderful day. This transcript was generated by https://otter.aiBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.
