The newest thing, which we're going to be speaking about later on in this podcast is that the plume of dust which has developed and develops every year above Africa, and pushes over into the Atlantic Ocean is currently headed into the South Florida area. Dust does inhibit thunderstorm development along with shower development. And as a result, the temperatures might actually start to get hotter in the Florida area, and eventually this dust may actually make it further into the United States if what happens last year, what happened last year happens this year. But more importantly, this dust may prevent some of those hurricanes from forming. Once the dust starts, it pretty much sticks around here until mid August. So this gives us a chance for heatwave development domes of heat to develop without any interruption whatsoever. Once they get started. Now, we do have some tropical storm potential over the next week. So let's give it another week or so before solid dome of heat will finally get set up here in the United States in the Midwest, the Great Lakes area even and parts of the East Coast. I do think we're going to be seeing a hot summer this year. And whatever we saw last week and the end of the week before is an indicator of what we're in for this summer unless hurricanes interfere but now that we have this dust coming in from the Sahara Desert, the chances are we will be I'm not sure what type of effect that's going to have on the hurricane season. But it could be that we're going to phase out of the hurricanes until mid August. And at least after next week, and if that should happen we're going to see a solid dome of heat especially considering the fact that the Upper Midwest has drought conditions going on. So the sun is very efficient heating things up. Today temperatures have gone into the hundreds in Kansas Nebraska and Denver Colorado. Highs in the low hundreds North Dakota highs in the South Dakota highs in the hundreds. Phoenix Arizona expecting a high of 116 degrees today. 118 degrees today. For tomorrow. Las Vegas, Nevada rarely gets 215 degrees Believe it or not, but 115 I think it only hit 115 27 times in the past. However many years since record keeping began. But today 115 degrees is expected temperatures reaching even hotter for tomorrow. 116. Over there Palm Springs California seems like it's one of the hottest cities 116 Today 119 degrees for tomorrow. Death Valley California going up to 126 degrees today. It's very serious heat it's there for an extended stay off in the desert southwest. Very serious stuff. Temperatures are in the 100 and teens over a large area. Temperatures are in the hundreds as well over a large area, including much of Oklahoma expecting highs in the hundreds much of Kansas and places further north than that as well. This podcast talks about some of the significance of dew points. Dew point is defined in this podcast. This podcast also discusses the most spectacular (my opinion) weather variable (and its even man made) in regards to humidity. We talk about the Midwest corn fields. The transcript is as follows:Unknown 0:08Good morning, everyone. It is Monday August 2. I wish this could be part of the humidity podcast. But that one is just too long already. I wanted to just discuss, why is it so rare to have at Dewey dewpoints in this country? Why? Why do we not experience the yet the other countries on by the Red Sea in the Persian Gulf, they do experience 80 degree dew points well into the 80s. And we don't what's wrong over here? We have the Gulf of Mexico. So what exactly is wrong, the Gulf of Mexico is really, really warm waters. So first, I, maybe I should explain what dew point is, like I did in the previous podcasts, a couple other podcasts. vouchsafed very quickly, the dew point is the most accurate way to measure humidity in the air, it's the temperature at which the environment would become saturated. So again, we have a large jar holds more water than a small jar, heat expands. So the warmer it is, the larger the air molecules are, the more water vapor it could hold. Relative humidity is how much water vapor is the air holding compared to what it could hold. So what you end up with is 90 degrees with a relative humidity of 50%. Relative humidity of 50% mix is a usually the dew points about 20 degrees lower than the temperature. It's that's not 100%. exactly correct. It depends on what the temperature is. But if you have an air temperature of 90 degrees, relative humidity, 50%, that's holding as much water vapor at 70 degrees could hold. So the relative humidity of 100%. When the temperature 70 would produce a relative humidity of 50% when the temperature is 90. And a lot of times by the way, and 90 degree heat in the afternoon, drops to 70 at night. So it's not uncommon to see the relative humidity close to 100% in the morning, and then drop the 50% in the afternoon. It's not that the humidity is dropping the humidity staying the same. The only differences is the relative humidity relative humidity is important. More so I think it's more important for weather forecasters. And dealing with the environment how much the what are the chances that the precipitation will be evaporating before it touches the ground. And it's more important for forecasters, it doesn't play To my knowledge, it does not play a significant role. And for our purposes, in terms of how the air feels, the only time it would play a significant role is when we're dealing with borderline humidity. So dew points of 60 or higher are considered humid, dew points of 70, or higher or 72 or higher, are considered oppressive, sometimes maybe even Upper 60s. So when dew points are in the 70s, it's going to feel humid, no matter what, when dew points are in the 60s, it's gonna feel humid. But when temperatures get really hot, it's not gonna feel humid, it's gonna feel more dry, there still will be a heat index of a degree or two, but it's gonna feel a little bit more dry, the relative humidity is so low in the morning, it's gonna feel humid. And when dew points are in the 60s, I think you do need a higher relative humidity in order for it to feel for it to have that moist feeling. And I think if if it's in the Upper 50s with the relative humidity of 100%, I think it's also going to have that moist feeling as well. So I think that's where the relative humidity plays a role and comfort level in when dew points are in the 60s, and also in the winter in terms of that damp feeling. But again, we go back to our question is why are dew points higher than 80 so rare here in this country. Now one thing you have to realize is that the temperature always has to be higher than the dew point. 0:02Good morning everyone. It is August and then it's in the late morning and today is finally here an exciting day because it is extremely humid outside and the dew points are really really high. This is a rarity here in the Chicago area. Right now the state of Illinois is the most human state in the country and we're seeing dew point, the maximum dew point in the past 12 hours was a sauna like 84 degrees. It's reporting on one website. Dark Sky says that parts of the Chicago area currently have a dew point of 81 degrees. The National Weather Service weather app says the dew point 78 degrees. Other sources say that the dew point the official dew point in Chicago 76 degrees. Midway according to one side says the dew point 74 degrees. So we certainly been a hard time trying to figure out what the dew point is here in the Chicago area. But either way, probably the strongest indicator that we actually do have dew points currently in the Upper 70s and even low 80s low 80s. Imagine that low at dew point is from the National Weather Service Forecast discussion, where it says the dew points today will remain in the Upper 70s and low 80s remain meaning they have gone up into the upper 70s and low 80s accuweather.com is reporting maximum dew points to be occurring late this afternoon at 79 degrees, and they have their models a little bit off for right now though what do they say the dew point at noon will be 71 degrees, but it's already in the Upper 70s. But either way, perhaps there are places in Chicago where the dew point is only in the low 70s. And perhaps each weather station is reporting a different viewpoints. But by late afternoon dew points will be in the upper 70s. And the National Weather Service has pointed out that there will even be some locations with dew points in the low 80s. This is as high as it can possibly get. The record for Chicago has a dew point of 83 degrees. That's the highest dew point ever recorded in Chicago. So we are approaching record territory here. And what's amazing about this is that it's not just we're approaching record territory, but it also the highest dewpoints in the country are occurring right over the Chicago area. Now South Bend Indiana also is having very high dew points a little bit less than the Chicago area. dew points between 75 and 76 degrees. dew points will likely go a little bit higher as the day progresses. He didn't afternoon he didn't disease top out between 95 and 105. For South Bend, Indiana. He didn't he's expected to be around 110 area wide in the Chicago area. Heat advisories in effect for Chicago possibly for South Bend as well until 7pm this evening. Now the one variable that is might mess up this heat is if thunderstorms develop this afternoon. As of now the thunderstorms are expected to hold off until this evening. Some of those storms could be severe, especially with damaging wind 55 to 65 mile per hour wind gusts with an AccuWeather max of 80 miles per hour. There also could be an isolated tornado and large hail. But the main thing will be the damaging winds with these storms. And it's unbelievable the amount of humidity obviously the amount of humidity these storms are dealing with is the highest in the world. This is as intense as it gets really probably on par with the monsoon in India. Just about you know for a week the dew points for between 80 and 81 degrees in New Delhi, India. We're seeing two points here that are places currently dew points are in the low 80s. And parts of Illinois as we speak. And the maximum dew point I don't know if this is official or unofficial was 84 degrees within the past 12 hours here in Illinois. dew points elsewhere in the country it is very difficult to find an 80 degree dew point unless you go down into Galveston, Texas or Corpus Christi, Texas, otherwise plenty of Upper 70s. Lots of Upper 70s. For dew points. And we are in the midst of living through an unprecedented event for the month of October for us who come from the Midwest. We're actually going to this event is going to intensify as the week goes on. We have not dropped below 60 degrees yet this month of October, it's already October 10. Temperatures have failed to fall below 60. Now, why have they failed to fall below 60. So someone might want to say that. You know why? Because the daytime highs were around 80. Well, you know, if the daytime highs were around 80, then we would be talking about another unprecedented event for temperatures to be 80 degrees for the first 10 days of October. Certainly the temperatures were 80 degrees i We could hear why The overnight lows did not drop below 60. But when you look back last week, and you see those daytime highs are 68 degrees, 67 degrees, 69 degrees. And then you look at the overnight lows, 65 degrees, different 60 This degrees and 60 degrees, you have to wonder what is going on here, we have the nights are 13 hours long, temperatures start dropping even before skier even before sunset, the temperature start dropping, so we have 15 hours of dropping temperatures. So 15 hours of dropping temperatures we had one day the high was 68. The low was 65. But that was so okay, that doesn't. Let's say the high was 68. And that night, let's say it was 63. Let's just say I think it might have even been less than five degrees, you have five degrees within 15 hours. So we're talking aboutUnknown 2:16dropping one degree every three hours. So a third of the degree in our What can possibly be causing that a third of the degree in our? Well, the answer is the dew points, the dew points, the humidity, the humidity is tremendous insulation here in the city and the temperatures are just not dropping, they can't drop below the dew point and the humidity stays. Now why is there so much humidity and why so much consistency. I don't even know if we see such consistency in July. And we do we do see consistency in July. But even in July, we do get these Canadian air masses every now and then we're dew points dropped into the 50s. In fact, at the very end of July this year, dew points dropped into the 40s. But we've seen such consistency like this is just 10 days temperatures have not dropped below 60 Dew points have remained above 60 degrees.Unknown 3:10And the question again is why? So I've read in an article something very interesting. It's because the sun is so weak, the wetness of the ground is just not evaporating and significant pace and therefore the dew points remain high. It is the weakness of the sun that is causing all the warmth right now, we still have vegetation all over the place, the growing season is coming to an end for many places out west. 0:39Good evening everyone. It is Sunday, October 10 And I just wanted to give a summary of the previous podcast which contained 34 minutes of weather. I'm going to try to get this done in five minutes 15 minutes max. On the weather map but the most significant thing that's taking place right now is a low pressure system that has dived from the northwest or actually this low pressure system was part of a piece of energy that went into reach to the Rockies split into two. One of them became a strong storm system that moved up into North Dakota and brought a severe weather outbreak yesterday. It's possible that that system is bringing some severe weather into northeast Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin this evening, but a more significant storm system, which also came out of this piece of Energy has moved into the southern Colorado area or into Kansas, the southeast part of this storm system is where we have the severe weather outbreak, Oklahoma, it really is the center of all of this severe weather there's a Tornado Watch in effect until 10 o'clock pm for much of Oklahoma and north Texas, North Central Texas, also some parts of Southeast West southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri and Western Oregon's also have a very good chance of seeing severe weather. The highest chance for tornadoes are going to be this evening and then the damaging the most damaging part of these storms is going to roll onto, it's gonna change over to damaging wind as we go through the night, there's a good chance that these thunderstorms which are hitting this right now are going to develop into a squall line later on tonight bringing damaging winds up to 80 miles per hour, possibly even 90 miles per hour in some locations Flash Flood Watch has also an effect for parts of Oklahoma where very heavy downpours is expected and that could cause flash flooding on the other hand, only one to two inches of rain of widespread rain is expected over there but, which is heavy rain but the flash flooding will likely be a result of rainfall accumulations that are higher than one to two inches, large hail to the size of baseballs is also a possibility with some of this severe weather one of the highest dangers with this situation right now is the fact that it's going to be occurring in the night, and that's always more dangerous situation and when these tornadoes occurred during the day the safest place to be would be in a basement away from windows that would be the safest place to sleep. If you are in one of those areas. This low pressure system then move on to the Great Lakes, tomorrow and severe, and the Ohio Valley that's going to be affected by the severe weather tomorrow, chances for severe weather aren't just a possibility there's also a possibility for tornadoes even in the Chicago area, but much less of a possibility than what has been happening in Oklahoma. But there is one thing, extra that's going to be happening in Chicago that is the storms are going to be moving really quickly 50 to 60 miles per hour, which means once a tornado warning is issued if it is issued, there will not be much time to prepare for the most likely damage severe threat in the Chicago area is going to be damaging wind, strong winds just above the surface, 50 to 60 miles per hour is what's going to be pushing these storms, but thunderstorms tend to bring winds down to the surface. So those are the types of winds that might be coming down to the surface whenever you have strong winds, there's always a chance for large deal as well. So there is a possible chance for severe weather for places like St. Louis, Missouri Chicago Illinois Detroit, Michigan, and Cedar Rapids, Michigan as well. And I am not sure about Indiana. We have probably the most dynamic part of this weather or the the system that's creating the most significant weather over the largest part of this country is a deep low pressure system located in South North Dakota. barometric pressure is 29.2, it certainly is a deep low pressure and the storm system is moving in a unique path, it's moving directly north and is headed into Canada, Manitoba. The system is going to weakened slightly but remain a deep low pressure system, it's going to weaken to 29.3. And it's going to continue to move directly north. It's not moving northeast, north, north east, slightly northeast, but really, it's taking the most intense track possible to produce heavy snow. This is what the North Eastern a lot of times do. There's also a call flow which moves right up the Mississippi River. And when that happens in the winter time, that's when the heaviest snowfall occurs. So there's no question we have cities also that have responded to this their cities in Montana. But as of this morning, one city got 28 inches of snow, another one. That's somewhere in the 20s others in the upper teens, and I believe the snow is still falling with an additional eight to 12 inches expected in some spots, the names of those cities, you could look up, I had the names, but it's going to create too much of apsic in this podcasts going to create an interruption here, so I'm just gonna leave it at that. And we also that low pressure system is producing other hazards as well. As I mentioned this morning, as severe weather outbreak is also on the side of that system on the south east side is it usually is now originally the Storm Prediction Center put Chicago and a marginallyUnknown 2:34chance for severe weather about a 10% chance. But that line moved further west. This high pressure system is pumping a South flow of warm and even humid air off the east coast bringing well above normal temperatures. In fact, this is unseasonably warm heat, double In fact, this is a late summer season weather pattern that's happening on the East Coast today. Temperatures might be breaking records south of the Mid Atlantic area, perhaps in North Carolina or South Carolina. But when you go up further north records probably will not be broken but it will be warm. With high temperatures in Baltimore, mid May be Upper 80s, Washington DC, mid 80s. Philadelphia, probably low 80s. And tomorrow, we're even going to continue to see temperatures probably low 80s for Baltimore, even 80 degrees for Philadelphia tomorrow, but as seabreeze will develop in Atlantic City highs only in the mid 70s. Let's go back to today because I just want to know what is the audience feel? What What do you feel about temperatures being in the 80s? Like if it's if it reached if the warmest temperature. Yesterday was in St. Louis, with the newspapers say the warmest temperature was 300 miles southwest of Chicago, Illinois. It would just say the actual town. So why does it say 37 miles south east? Why would it do that? Again, no wouldn't do that by Chicago or St. Louis. Why would it do that then? Isn't that strange? That really is strange. That needs a tremendous explanation. Where who has this weather station isn't someone's on someone's roof? Like what? Where is it? What How come this place doesn't have the name of a town. The Chicago Sun Times agrees but the temperature the coldest temperature in the US was eight degrees. But it says it wasn't body Park, California. They actually have some clarity. I know it's so nice to have clarity. But you know what is nice to do is to have clarity. Now let's go ahead and pull ahead with the warmest temperature in the US now that we mentioned the coldest the warmest temperature was in Falcon Lake, Texas once again. As again, we have that unseasonally warm air on the East Coast chances of showers and thunderstorms off in the southeast part of this country, especially Florida. Periodic showers also up in the New England area, higher chances occur in the western parts of the area. But by tomorrow, we're going to see showers and thunderstorms develop all across the East Coast. However, the instability is not as intense as it usually is when a vigorous cold front goes by. But nonetheless, rain and possibly even heavy could occur. That's what's going on today, we have a strong storm system located off in the East Central Illinois. And that storm system has a barometric pressure of 29.7, it's going to be moving to just north of Cleveland, today, it's going to be strengthening to 29.5 as it does, and then continue into southern Ontario, into Canada, strengthening to 29.3, that's actually considered rapid intensification of a storm system. I know I also love it when storms intensify so rapidly, that's just I definitely love it when it does that. So I'm glad the crowd agrees in the on that along the storm system along the way. associated with the storm system, we have a cold front going all the way down into South Texas temperatures ahead of the front or in the 90s in Houston, Texas. But most areas are in the 80s for the southern part of the US ahead of the front and the 70s. When you head to the northern parts of the United States ahead of the front, behind the front, we have temperatures in the 50s for the northern half of the US in the 60s for the southern half. But then you when you go down into Texas temperatures are in the 70s. So it's certainly a 20 degree difference. But heading to the front and behind the front. The one of these articles pointed out that people should be on the lookout for the heavy rains associated with this fun and storm system. Especially because waterlogged trees, waterlogged trees. I know who's ever heard of this waterlogged trees might may fall on powerlines. And people may use lose electricity. I've heard of snow covered trees falling, especially with leaves. I've heard of wind blowing down trees or tornadoes, but waterlogged trees falling down on the powerlines. I hope the audience is not laughing at the fact that people are going to be losing power. When you go into Indiana in places to the east, this Storm Prediction Center has put those areas in a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms. That means a 10% chance for severe weather within a 25 mile radius. The only problem is the National Weather Service says they really don't know if there's enough instability to even produce a storm. So there's very little chance for a thunderstorm, chances of a severe weather are higher than a thunderstorm. That's just impossible. So let's just assume there's a 10% chance for both. But I don't really think that's true either. It's probably there's probably just people are expressing their chances differently. And that's perhaps what's going on over here. But the moving Okay, we covered the East Coast we covered in the system here in the US. Let's go over now to the west coast and discuss the developing situation over in Los Angeles. Early in the afternoon, and we have monitored for real, like an unbelievable weather pattern, an unbelievable weather situation that's taking place up in the Pacific Northwest and in southwest Canada. In fact, it is so unbelievable. There's a meteorologist and perhaps even more than one Cliff maths who said that if it wasn't for the fact that every single computer model is forecasting the same thing, this forecast would be completely dismissed. It's just completely outrageous what's going on. You know, it's kind of like what it was forecast in Denver many months ago. According to the GFS computer model, where they were forecasting more than 50 or 60 inches of snow, the meteorologist just dismissed it because it's just not possible. It's like totally outrageous. They went ahead and went with the other computer models which were forecasting much less either way, it was a major snowstorm. But sometimes you'll have a computer model which is forecasting something outrageous, and the meteorologists know just ignore it that for whatever reason, that particular model is forecasting something really weird. In this case, the it is totally outrageous what is being forecasted. The only thing is, is that every single model is forecasting the same things, even some of the European computer models, which is completely different. It's made up of completely different material, completely different sensors completely different everything from the GFS model, it's still reaching the same conclusions as the GFS model and other models in regards to the Pacific Northwest and southwest Canada, there's this is probably the they say this is the strongest dome of heat that has ever occurred. And this is also a KERS once every 4776 years, that's on average, those are the chances of something like this happening is one in every 4776 years. There are different opinions in regards to how much of this is connected to climate change or not. We have Cliff mass who feels that this heatwave would be happening regardless of manmade climate change. This is just so so intense, that even without the manmade climate change, he says we would still have an extreme event, he thinks that it perhaps there's climate change that is contributing to a couple degrees, making it a couple degrees warmer than what it ordinarily would it would have been otherwise. But even without the climate change, this is what had happened. And it would have been an extreme event. We have other meteorologists and climatologists who claim otherwise, they say that this completely storm of heat, the whole thing probably would not be happening if it wasn't for manmade climate change. But I would assume nobody really knows, I would assume that it's just going to leave it off as a my focus is different of opinions, different approaches as to how much of this is connected to manmade climate change, if any of it is but in any case, we do have a an an unbelievable thing. Unbelievable dome of heat that's taking place up in the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures are expected to hit 110 degrees and Seattle Washington today.Unknown 3:37I do want to acknowledge that, based upon an article that I read, it could be implied that temperatures do reach 110 Every now and then at least for areas along the Cascades and eastward. But for temperatures to reach 110 degrees west of the Cascades, that's basically unheard of. We have temperatures that hit 108 degrees. I think it was in Portland, Oregon, or very, very close to that yesterday. Temperatures, I believe went up to 102 and Seattle, Washington yesterday. These are all records temperature of 110. Today that beats the old record by 19 degrees. The previous record was 91 degrees. Who's ever heard of such a thing, breaking a record by 19 degrees? You know, we almost came close to stuff like that back in the March heatwave of 2012. Unknown 0:31Good afternoon, everyone. It is Sunday, October 10. And we are in the midst of living through an unprecedented event for the month of October for us who come from the Midwest. We're actually going to this event is going to intensify as the week goes on. We have not dropped below 60 degrees yet this month of October, it's already October 10. Temperatures have failed to fall below 60. Now, why have they failed to fall below 60. So someone might want to say that. You know why? Because the daytime highs were around 80. Well, you know, if the daytime highs were around 80, then we would be talking about another unprecedented event for temperatures to be 80 degrees for the first 10 days of October. Certainly the temperatures were 80 degrees i We could hear why The overnight lows did not drop below 60. But when you look back last week, and you see those daytime highs are 68 degrees, 67 degrees, 69 degrees. And then you look at the overnight lows, 65 degrees, different 60 This degrees and 60 degrees, you have to wonder what is going on here, we have the nights are 13 hours long, temperatures start dropping even before skier even before sunset, the temperature start dropping, so we have 15 hours of dropping temperatures. So 15 hours of dropping temperatures we had one day the high was 68. The low was 65. But that was so okay, that doesn't. Let's say the high was 68. And that night, let's say it was 63. Let's just say I think it might have even been less than five degrees, you have five degrees within 15 hours. So we're talking about dropping one degree every three hours. So a third of the degree in our What can possibly be causing that a third of the degree in our? Well, the answer is the dew points, the dew points, the humidity, the humidity is tremendous insulation here in the city and the temperatures are just not dropping, they can't drop below the dew point and the humidity stays. Now why is there so much humidity and why so much consistency. I don't even know if we see such consistency in July. And we do we do see consistency in July. But even in July, we do get these Canadian air masses every now and then we're dew points dropped into the 50s. In fact, at the very end of July this year, dew points dropped into the 40s. But we've seen such consistency like this is just 10 days temperatures have not dropped below 60 Dew points have remained above 60 degrees. And the question again is why? So I've read in an article something very interesting. It's because the sun is so weak, the wetness of the ground is just not evaporating and significant pace and therefore the dew points remain high. It is the weakness of the sun that is causing all the warmth right now, we still have vegetation all over the place, the growing season is coming to an end for many places out west. Even in the southwest, hard freeze warnings are in effect. And the National Weather Service leaves off with the forecast discussion they sign off with. And this brings the growing season to an end. It's like it's sad words to hear. Because once the growing season comes to an end over there, and it comes to an end in the northwest Pacific and all around us to the west and eventually to the north. Then the humidity starts to die down once the humidity starts to die down over there, even though the humidity continues over here. But the jet stream is going to gradually start to move south. That's what's going to start to happen. There's a question, there's a major question. Is it cold? Because the Jets is the reason why we're warm? Let's say the reason why we're warm. Is it because the jet stream is above us? Or is the reason why the Jetstream is above us because we're warm. And they say nobody knows. It's like asking what came first the chicken or the egg? Nobody knows. And it's really kind of like a combination of the two. It's a combination of the two. So in a certain way I think it is the humidity that is keeping the Jetstream further north. And you can hear that it's was made this morning, this is more of an in depth discussion. That's what's gonna be going on on this podcast right now. We have probably the most dynamic part of this weather or the the system that's creating the most significant weather over the largest part of this country is a deep low pressure system located in South North Dakota. barometric pressure is 29.2, it certainly is a deep low pressure and the storm system is moving in a unique path, it's moving directly north and is headed into Canada, Manitoba. The system is going to weakened slightly but remain a deep low pressure system, it's going to weaken to 29.3. And it's going to continue to move directly north. It's not moving northeast, north, north east, slightly northeast, but really, it's taking the most intense track possible to produce heavy snow. This is what the North Eastern a lot of times do. There's also a call flow which moves right up the Mississippi River. And when that happens in the winter time, that's when the heaviest snowfall occurs. So there's no question we have cities also that have responded to this their cities in Montana. But as of this morning, one city got 28 inches of snow, another one. That's somewhere in the 20s others in the upper teens, and I believe the snow is still falling with an additional eight to 12 inches expected in some spots, the names of those cities, you could look up, I had the names, but it's going to create too much of apsic in this podcasts going to create an interruption here, so I'm just gonna leave it at that. And we also that low pressure system is producing other hazards as well. As I mentioned this morning, as severe weather outbreak is also on the side of that system on the south east side is it usually is now originally the Storm Prediction Center put Chicago and a marginallyUnknown 2:34chance for severe weather about a 10% chance. But that line moved further west. We have the second Noor Easter, which is taking place here on the East Coast for this afternoon. And really, I think it's the low pressure system that's going to be developing tomorrow and off the North Carolina coast, that one is going to really pick up an intensity that was not able to really become that strong today as the as they usually do. Usually, the secondary areas of low pressure, which developed close to the primary area of low pressure strengthen quite rapidly. But in this case, the primary low pressures just too strong. And it's going to take a little while before the secondary low pressure system starts to develop. In any case, there's going to be lots of rain and flooding rains along with lots of photo of lots of coastal flooding as well. And high wind watches and wind advisories in effect for places along the coast for today. This is also because of a buildup of what's been going on over the past week really even though this nor'easter is not as strong as the one earlier this week was. But nonetheless it is a major event. Note so of course is forecasted with this one there is just not enough cold air. Should this be a system that would be taking place in the winter, this would be a monster snowstorm. Without a doubt, this system pulls out the sea into the mid Atlantic area. And unbelievably so the New York Times tells us that this storm system has a chance of getting a named a tropical storm. How does that make sense? I don't know if we're nowhere near the tropics. But somehow it's doing it. I don't know how the you know, the storm systems in the North Pacific those bombs, they never get any names. They have no names at all. The only names you ever hear about are those names to the winter storms that the Weather Channel, they have their own names. But I don't know how this system could possibly be getting a name when it's so far north. But the New York Times mentioned it I don't know if they're right or not. But that's something which is certainly noteworthy to put in over here. We have here in the Midwest, we have a cold air cooler air that's going to be filtering in behind the storm system. But behind the cool air, we have a big warm up taking place. And this is really impossible not to notice when you look at the weather map today. impossible not to notice the 60s and 70s all over the Rockies and that's an that is reflective of a another powerhouse storm that's moving into the northwest Pacific that transports lots of southerly wind and warm air out ahead of it. So we have all of that warm air, those storms are going to continue to move on to the Pacific Northwest. And those storms are a result of low pressure impulses that are spinning off of a very intense area of low pressure that you could see on the weather map, which is remaining stationary somewhere in the Northern Pacific. It looks to me like it's in the Gulf of Alaska. But maybe it's not. That's what the weather map that I looked at. That's what it showed a lot of spin over there. And there's little systems that are spinning off of that one running into an atmospheric river. Without a doubt each one and we have lots of precipitation, the radar picked up a lot of precipitation in the Northwest today. Also lots of precipitation taking place here in the Chicago area here in the Midwest. And then the third area of precipitation that I remember seeing on this map was off on the East Coast. We have the main focus, I think this week is going to be the arrival of what some are calling the first Arctic airmass of the season. Computer models do not know what to do with it, especially the second punch of cold there. We have a cold front that's going to be coming in on Sunday. And this is really impossible not to notice when you look at the weather map today. impossible not to notice the 60s and 70s all over the Rockies and that's an that is reflective of a another powerhouse storm that's moving into the northwest Pacific that transports lots of southerly wind and warm air out ahead of it. So we have all of that warm air, those storms are going to continue to move on to the Pacific Northwest. And those storms are a result of low pressure impulses that are spinning off of a very intense area of low pressure that you could see on the weather map, which is remaining stationary somewhere in the Northern Pacific. It looks to me like it's in the Gulf of Alaska. But maybe it's not. That's what the weather map that I looked at. That's what it showed a lot of spin over there. And there's little systems that are spinning off of that one running into an atmospheric river. Without a doubt each one and we have lots of precipitation, the radar picked up a lot of precipitation in the Northwest today. Also lots of precipitation taking place here in the Chicago area here in the Midwest. And then the third area of precipitation that I remember seeing on this map was off on the East Coast. We have the main focus, I think this week is going to be the arrival of what some are calling the first Arctic airmass of the season. Computer models do not know what to do with it, especially the second punch of cold there. We have a cold front that's going to be coming in on Sunday. Temperatures on Sunday for some of the cities are going to be warmer after the front moves through, such as in the city of St. Louis than they were before. Quite amazing to have a nor Easter a system a storm system that gets its energy from contrast and temperatures to then move on to the Atlantic and be like a hybrid, and then eventually become a complete tropical storm where there's no difference in air temperatures at all. And all of the energy is coming from the warm water temperatures. And the water temperatures are not even that warm. We have a barometric pressure as of yesterday was 29.2 I believe it was a strengthening system. This is just a powerhouse thing. And it's unique. And it's something I've we've heard of the other. We've heard the other version, the backwards version where you have tropical storms then move on to the east coast and they combine with a front and then turn into a nor'easter. That is something that we've heard of before. But for this nor Easter to turn into a named Tropical Storm is absolutely it's very noteworthy and remarkable. And one has to ask a big cash over here, a very strong question is why is it that the North Pacific bombs, the North Pacific powerful low pressure systems under 29.0, which also strengthen at such a rapid pace? It's also considered a Bama Genesis. That's the official word. Why don't they have names? Why are there no names over there? So that's a question that we all have to ask. But this is the month of November, we certainly are seeing the storms out in the ocean. We're seeing this but the question is what about here in the Midwest and the South states and the East Coast? Where are the storms around here? Well, we don't have any November storm systems around here. But we do have a storm system. It's just not of November quality. We have a front The Washington Post is calling it an arctic cold front. There are other forecasters from national weather services that are also calling this an arctic cold front as the St. Louis National Weather Service. One of the forecasters pointed out this was on Friday that the high pressure system is originating pretty close to the North Pole. That sounds like it is north of the Arctic Circle. It also is coming from Canada. If it would be coming from the North Pole. I believe it's a polar front and it's not as cold as an arctic front.Unknown 4:49So but on the other hand, we do have others that are just calling this a Canadian cold front. Either way, we do have air that's pushing into this country with was cold enough to produce five to six inches of snow at least in Nebraska as a noon yesterday, that's the amount of snow that fell also parts of Wyoming as well. They certainly got snowfall, and I don't even think it was such a major low pressure system, this low, low pressure system, whatever it wasn't moved to East. I don't really think it affected Chicago, but it moved east and fell basically as rain and but until it hit the Appalachians, it's starting to fall as snow again. So going into the mid Atlantic area, that's what I imagined. I imagined that setting the Mid Atlantic here, we have another spot which is probably going to be getting between six and seven inches of snow. That's areas around Buffalo, New York, I don't know buffalo is going to be getting in also areas around us, Syracuse, Syracuse, New York, and also parts of Michigan, from lake effect snow, these types of setups usually produce between six and seven inches of snow in those areas. There's a lot of variables that have to come together this time of the year to produce that because the lake water temperatures are unusually warm, just unusually warm. Moving right along we have the big talk for this week is really the the difference between the European computer model and the GFS computer model that has been well advertised monster forecast discussions for the past several days, the European computer model has had us and had this country with a colder airmass than the GFS model. And forecasters were going with European computer model, at least in St. Louis, they were since this high pressure is originating close to the North Pole. And one of the there's a few reasons why the European computer model was forecasting what it was, I'm not going to go through all the reasons one of them is because of the trough is positively tilted. And when that happens, it allows the cold air to come further south and west than it normally would. Therefore, that seems to be what happening what's happening the European computer model did get it right. And we have cold air going all the way down all the way down into deep Texas. This is going to be unusually cold temperatures even for Houston, Texas, temperatures about 20 to 25. below zero for areas in the southern plains, Amarillo, Texas might also be getting some snowflakes, the storm systems developing today How could it not the the contrast and temperatures is over Texas copious amounts of golf moistures feeding into the system, there's this is really an ideal setup for a storm system. But the swamp systems barely going to move the front isn't really going to move much the storm system isn't really going to move much. And it's going to slowly move towards the east, eventually making it to the east coast by Wednesday night and Thursday. And because of its slow movement, and because of the copious amounts of moisture, we're going to end the intensity of the storm, we're going to see heavy rain accumulations of two to three inches or more throughout much of the gulf coast areas. on the northwest side of the storm system, we'll be getting snowflakes. In regards to snowfall accumulation, probably not much, maybe even nothing. Usually, the area of heaviest snow is the northeast part of the storm system. But in this system, they we're gonna have to go over to the coldest part of the storm, which is the northwest part of this storm, before the precipitation starts to fall as snow. There could be some snowflakes really anywhere as far north, probably even Chicago, here and there. But generally the precipitation is going to be staying to ourselves. So we have a number of systems first system has gone by already. The second systems developing tonight into tomorrow. The third system is on Thursday, Wednesday night into Thursday. And then we have a parade of powerful storms coming on to the northwest Pacific. The one thing that has to be mentioned is that there is a most powerhouse storm ever.Unknown 9:02I know there are parts of the storm that really are unprecedented says in the National Weather Service in Anchorage, Alaska, and this forecast. And this is unbelievable. Unbelievable. Up to 28 feet 28 feet of snow will be falling in parts of southern Alaska. And in fact, the National Weather Service says some people say they think it's been over estimated but there are no snow gauges that go that high. Therefore there's nobody nobody who's able to to figure out how much snow actually fell. So they're leaving it at that. So even if it doesn't be it's not only 80 Nobody's gonna know the difference anyways, some places got over 10 inches of rain, and that breaks records. It's the farthest north place that there has ever been two consecutive days of more than eight inches of rain the Washington Post blames manmade climate change. And, you know, sometimes it feels almost like they're putting in these weather articles, because the minute agenda, this agenda to speak about manmade climate change. So in that case, I'm just so happy that they have manmade climate change, because these articles are just awesome articles, they're written really well. And that's why they mentioned arctic front and I give heavy weight to those words, those meteorologists really, they their articles are well written. They're not written in such a way that it's going there, like fluffy, bogus stuff, like you might find some other weather articles that are written in such a way to grab your attention. This is a month where storms intensify rapidly. And that's because of the Great Lakes, we have pretty strong storm systems that move across the area. Similar to what we see in March. I think in March, the stronger the storms are stronger. But when the Great Lakes, the effects of the Great Lakes have on storms, that doesn't happen in March, the Great Lakes, the water temperatures are warm, the air rises, and it really intensifies those storms. So we've had some powerhouse storms here in the Chicago area for the month of November. If you look on the weather map, actually, you will see this, you will see that the weather map is reflective of this. We don't see any strong storms in the United States. But we own the ocean area. We just witnessed something unbelievable to me. And nor Easter last week nor Easter, he gets its energy from contrast and temperatures. That thing moved off to the Atlantic Ocean. And it became a named sub tropical storm, a named sub tropical storm.Unknown 1:23I thinkUnknown 1:28I appreciate the excitement in the crowd this evening, very, very much. And we'll be able to continue on with that. But not only that, it also moved into the tropics. So today it's a tropical storm. It's it's a regular tropical storm, the type of thing that comes off of Africa, nobody would think and no one would have a half a million and a billion years that this thing came from a North Eastern, we've seen the opposite. We've seen these tropical storms, they move on to the coast over here in the country, and then they develop into a north east or they run into a front they pull away from the warm waters and that thing starts to fall apart then it runs into a front and it kind of reorganizes it turns into a nor'easter that we've seen before. I've never seen this. I don't know. It's, it's so why haven't I seen this before? It's anyways, the sub tears, the big caution, the really big question is, as of 2002, apparently, as the 2002, we started to named sub tropical storms, it's an official thing, we start to name these sub tropical storms, I assume the criteria for a sub tropical storm is the same thing for a tropical storm. I think it's when a storm reaches maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour. It gets its name. That's what I believe. So whatever it does in the tropics, that's what it does in north north of the tropics and sub tropical areas. What's phenomenal about this storm, before we get to my question is that this storm, it's not even over such warm waters. And it's getting its energy from the water. It's a tropical system. So it's really interesting stuff. But this is something that probably is a no November deal. This is a special November deal. Because a lot of things are relative. That's the truth. The rising air is really relative, even zero degree air, I think they will start rising is if it's warm air, if it's 30 below zero all around it. So you have to deal with that. Yeah, the waters are cooler. They're not really so warm. But it could very well be that the air is rising at a rapid pace. Apparently it is because this thing has developed into developed initially into a subtropical storm now into a tropical storm. The other thing that's unique over here is that it's not hitting land. This thing wouldn't be making any headlines at all the except for the fact that it is except for the fact that it wouldn't be making any headlines because it's not hitting in any area. And you know, for those storm lovers, for those people who hate the storm lovers, because they think maybe that the storm Lovers don't care about humanity because people get hurt and stuff. Well this is the one time the storm lovers get to express themselves like never before. Because this is like never before because this is not hitting any land and show everyone show everyone that it was small. We love storms because of the strongest not because anyone gets hurt. That's a that's very, very sad that people get hurt. So what do we have to say about these storms? What do we have to say?Unknown 5:28Not oh man, how come I'm not getting any?Unknown 5:32This crowd is a really funny crowd. We have over a year, four more years of storms, four more years of storms. That's what the crowd saying we want to hear more and more and more. And it's certainly where you want it to be on land. Because once it's on land, we get to see it with our own eyes, we get to see what's going on. If it's not on land, who they could say anything, people could say anything and we were forced to believe it. So we have that storm out in the tropics, the big Kasha is what about these North Pacific bombs and their bombs in many ways. First of all, the system is powerful. It's intense. It's the barometric pressures 29.0 or less. This subtropical storm, the barometric pressure was 29.2, it was weaker. But not only that, this storm has intensified such a rapid pace. It qualifies for the official definition of abama abama. Genesis Palma Genesis, that's what it is. And are they getting names? I've never heard of them getting names. Maybe they are? I've never heard of it. I don't know, just because I haven't heard of it doesn't mean doesn't mean much. Although you would think after reading all these articles that that's a big thing they forgot to put in if these storms are getting named.Unknown 6:46I've read so much stuff about those storms, if they're getting named, and everyone just forgot to add that point. That's a that's quite a coincidence. Sure. It's possible. Anyways, those are the storms that are you know, they head off to the northwest Pacific either it's them themselves that are going to the northwest Pacific, or it's the spin that they produce. That's that spinning around, these impulses come off of them and send them to the northwest Pacific. At least three are headed there this week, at least three probably another parade next week without a doubt. Okay, so they're getting their parade of storms. That's wonderful for them because they were under a drought. And we have in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean powerhouse stuff is going on. So if you're a boater, you should pay attention to the situation over there. If you're a boater, that storm system is moving north east and to cooler waters. You know, one would think that it should weekend but again, the whole thing developed in cooler water soUnknown 7:46but one would think that it should weaken as it moves into cooler waters. We have here in the United States, what we have is an arctic cold front. Now I want to be careful about the terminology here. We have there's three different types of fronts that could affect us. We have the polar front, the Pacific front and the arctic front. And there's different types of Arctic fronts. It's been very hard for me to figure out whether this is an arctic front or a mere Canadian front. We have top experts, reliable experts. The Washington Post is way up there. And they are calling this an arctic front. The St. Louis National Weather Service, the forecaster said straight out. The air mess behind this front is coming from not the North Pole. That would be a polar front, but it's coming from close to the North Pole. It's coming from northern Canada, just north of the Arctic Circle. I'm throwing those words in just north of the Arctic Circle. And I think that that's an arctic front. That's an arctic front. Okay, people in Texas, they're calling it an arctic front. Others are just calling it a Canadian front. Now.Unknown 9:00The three major ingredients you need for a major winter storm of six inches or more of snow is an Arctic a solid Arctic airmass deep low pressure and copious amounts of Gulf moisture. We're gonna have that starting tonight as a storm system develops over Texas. And that storm system is going to continue and be in that area for the next several days as it moves to the east coast. So we're gonna have heavy rains two to three inches of rain, perhaps even more areas of thunderstorms, really warm temperatures to the south east of the system. Usually the heaviest snow falls in the northeast part of the system. The only thing is that in this situation, since it is early November, the air is not going to be quite cold enough for snow in the northeast part of the system. We're going to have to get to the backside of the system before the precipitation is actually cold enough for snow. So any snow that does fall is likely going to be falling in the NorthwestUnknown 10:00Part of the system that greatly reduces any snow accumulation, that there would be if there's any snow accumulation. I would imagine a place like Amarillo, Texas and the Texas panhandle. That city is known for wild, total wild wildness just up and down and a half ago. That's the type of city I would think we're gonna have a few snowflakes from at least. We saw yesterday a low pressure system, as weak as it was. It existed produced five, I think it was 5.8 inches of snow 100 miles away from Lincoln, Nebraska. And that was around 12 o'clock yesterday. So we also had places in Wyoming that saw several inches of snow. So but Nebraska, I think, actually North plate Alaska at the 5.8 inches North plate Alaska, that that city is a city, anyone who's interested in wild weather, they must put that city into their app. I remember that city was doing wild stuff all the way back in spring, that city in Amarillo, Texas, these are cities that you want to have in your weather app to just if you want to increase your heart rate and get your happiness and get your day going without a cup of coffee. Those are the cities that you need to put in. We have the again this is a the the storm system seems to be taking a track, which will go along the Gulf Coast and out into the Atlantic Ocean. I wanted to get this done in five minutes the 23 Minute weather podcast I just gave him just gonna do a summary and try to get everything in within five minutes and the l start. Canadian cold front has moved across the United States and installed somewhere just south of Dallas. This cold front goes all the way from the Texas area all the way to the northeast. Temperatures ahead of the front are quite warm temperatures are in the 80s when you head off to Houston, Texas, and in the south Texas with hemorrhages behind the front are only in the 50s and many locations most locations only in the 40s. A strong storm system will be developing at the edge of this front over the Texas area. That's where the contrast that temperatures is most intense. copious amounts of Gulf moisture is also going to be put into the system the system is going to slowly move through the Gulf Coast, producing a long duration heavy rain event with three or more inches of rain over many locations. On the backside of the system, some snowflakes and they get mixed in especially over the Oklahoma Panhandle, possibly also the Texas panhandle as well. No snowfall accumulation is expected at this time. The low pressure system that was over in Nebraska that brought 5.8 inches of snow to North plate Nebraska, and also several inches of snow to other locations west of Lincoln, Nebraska and parts of Wyoming has moved off to the east and has been mainly a rain producer. But some areas in the Appalachian Mountains have seen snow and it has not been a significant system. However, there are winds that are coming off of Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes in general that are expected to bring probably between four and seven inches of snow for places close to Buffalo and Syracuse, New York, or Syracuse and also places in Michigan as well. This isUnknown 2:05the nor'easter that was affecting the United States last week, the powerful nor'easter the first one has moved off into the Atlantic and unbelievably it became a named storm and named a tropical subtropical storm. And today it became a named tropical storm. This is really quite unbelievable, really remarkable for a system to originally get its energy from contrast and temperatures. And then to transition over to a storm system that gets all of its energy from the water. And there's no longer a contrast in any temperatures. This is more common when you have hurricanes that turn into nor'easters. They weaken when they hit land and then they run into a cold front. And they reignite and they turn into a nor'easter. But this is quite unique. For this to happen. The North Pacific storms, those storms by the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska. Those are very intense, low pressure systems, which for whatever reason don't seem to have any names to them. But one would think that perhaps they should have names if the ones in the Atlantic have names. But speaking of those systems, we have a powerful storm system over there right now over in the Gulf of Alaska, which is producing very heavy snow and heavy rain over in the Anchorage Alaska area. And places around their forecasts call for more than 10 feet of snow expected in the mountain areas over just a couple day period with some forecasts, it says in the National Weather Service up to 28 feet.Unknown 3:40Just unbelievable. Also, more than 10 inches of rain is expected over in that area. There actually was a record broken over there for eight inches of rain for two days, two consecutive days. And that's the farthest north we've ever had a city have eight inches of rain for two consecutive days. I believe that happened in Anchorage, Alaska. There are certainly are parts of that storm mature unprecedented. And that's one of them.Unknown 4:07A parade of storms will continue to move on to the northwest Pacific which is good news for them because they have these drought conditions. And it is those intense storms in the North Pacific that are responsible for a lot of spin pushing these spins of low pressure impulses onto the northwest Pacific and many of them become a quite intense storm. The system in Alaska actually has an atmospheric river which is why there is so much precipitation falling out of that system. Those systems don't always get an atmospheric river but this one does.Unknown 4:43This Canadian cold front has an air mass which really originated possibly as far north as the Arctic but it is a shallow cold airmass and temperatures are a little bit more moderate than one would expect this time of the year when you're getting a coldUnknown 5:00From the Arctic. The one exception is those places which saw the snowfall where high temperatures are only going to be in the 30s. Nonetheless, it looks like the growing season will be coming to an end over many places this week. One example is St. Louis, Missouri, which will be under freeze warnings for at least one or two nights. And Chicago also, I believe it's under a freeze warning for tonight. This is a two punch cold air. The second front is colder than the first. The timing of it is somewhere between Monday and Wednesday, the cold air from number front number one, which moved through on Sunday comes in on Monday. And I believe that the cold air comes in on Wednesday. Many cities though, will not get the second call there until Thursday. That's when it will be reaching its peak for many other cities.Unknown 5:47Possible storm system might develop over the weekend. If it does, though. There will be colder air that comes in behind the front. The following that indications are that we're going to have an above normal weather pattern possibly in the 60s in St. Louis already by midweek next week, but that is a far way off. Believe it or not. We have unseasonably warm temperatures headed for the southern Midwest and the Great Lakes area. We also have unseasonally warm temperatures heading into the Texas area. In fact, in many cases, it's the same places. The very same places they got hit the hardest with the snow, places like North plate Alaska, that's a 5.8 inches of snow going down to 30 actually went down into the 20s. They're going to see high temperatures soar into the low 70s. By the early beginning part of next week already going down into Amarillo, Texas, temperatures expected to go down into the upper 20s tonight. I don't know if they got some snowflakes or not. It certainly is reasonable to think that they may have gotten one snowflake. But even if they didn't temperatures, afternoon highs in the low 40s. Next week, we're going to be seeing high temperatures, mid 80s 86 degrees for Amarillo, Texas, temperatures are going into the 90s. For other parts of Texas, there's no question, this is a really warm air mass, we have temperatures going well into the 70s for the St. Louis area. I know forecasts for St. Louis are not quite up to that yet. But you'll see they will go up and we will see high temperatures even if they don't go up you'll see we'll have high temperatures low to mid 70s. First St. Louis, that's and then going into even into the Chicago area up north over here in Chicago, you know, we have a tendency to have a warm front Deficit Disorder. A warm front Deficit Disorder over here in Chicago has a serious issue with getting warm fronts. And this, we really have a serious issue, no matter what is forecasted those fronts come just about to Chicago, but they never quite make it to Chicago. And that's the big, that's one of the huge differences between St. Louis and Chicago when it comes to the winter is that St. And St. Louis see some major up and down at temperatures sometimes go into the 60s, even 70s in January. And Chicago just doesn't quite make it there at all. And it's a true rarity when it does the ups and downs of Chicago or 40s. And then teens and stuff like that a completely different type of ups and downs. But this weekend, tempered the beginning part of next week, temperatures are headed into the 60s for the Chicago area. That's Sunday, Monday, especially Monday, Monday we're gonna see that warm front push up in over the Cleveland area. In fact, already Sunday night and you buy the warm front, the warmer air comes in even before the flood comes in. That's one of the big mysteries of warm fronts that I can never figure out. The way it's explained. The way the meteorologists get out of the issue is they just say well, a warm fronts not well defined, and a cold front is well defined. So some of the warmer air tends to go north of the warm front. But you know, that doesn't really explain it. But that's the reality. The reality is there's going to be a warm up already in Cleveland, starting on Sunday, but the warm front doesn't move through until Monday. The real warm air the south coming in on South winds, there's several there's three reasons why we're going to be warm next week, three reasons that I was able to figure out if someone could figure out more than that's wonderful. I think the number one reason might be because we have a high pressure ridge that's building in from the west, it's building overhead. And whenever there's a high pressure ridge, that's the high pressure, generally it's at 500 millibars, up about 1800 18,000 feet up from the atmosphere, we're going to have high pressure over there. And when you have those ridges, that's when you get the bulging the Jetstream going north, that's when temperatures really start to warm up. Generally, there's also high pressure on the surface. And that's in the Alaska panhandle. They're getting ready for a week full of snowstorms for many of those cities over there. And by the time you get to the final snowstorm, the entire Alaska Panhandle will be affected by that. The Alaska panhandled doesn't always get snow storms, a lot of times it's just too warm. And for the first few snowstorms, that's going to be a big question mark, and it's probably not going to affect the entire panhandle. The final storm six to 12 inches which will be affecting the entire pan and each system will be bringing up probably about well, you know, some of them will be bringing about two to five inches of snow there will be rain mixed in some of them three to six, probably one or two of us six to 12. But when all is said and done, probably I would guess no more than 20 inches and the one particular spot. The precipitation over there tends to change usually terrain for a little bit by each storm. But when you head up into the central parts of Alaska by Fairbanks, Alaska, boy is it cold it is extremely cold when you go up in Fairbanks, Alaska, Arctic Village, Alaska. And the wood that is burning is producing major air quality alerts. We have temperatures dropping to 20 below. And even during the day that temperatures are not even hitting zero in the city. It's only November. And that's just quite phenomenal stuff that's going on over there. We got to hope that it doesn't come down here. All the other stuff is coming down here those storms that are developing in the Gulf of Alaska that came down here just this morning. It came raced it raced down here with fastest can be and it brought accumulating snow too much of the Upper Midwest which we'll hear more about that for tomorrow. The big story here in the lower 48 states is the storm system. It's over in the Pacific Northwest which has an affiliated cold front and the cold front a strong cold front which looks like it's going to be affecting the entire country unless you live in the deep south such as Key West Florida. The cold front will bring a dynamic change in temperatures especially to a city like Amarillo, Texas, or high temperatures on Tuesday will be in the mid 80s. Highs later. The next day highs only in the mid 50s with temperatures dropping into the 20s and 30s. West Virginia is another city which we'll be seeing tremendous temperature differences between one day to the next after the passage of this cold front. There is this forecast is quite easy to remember the cold front will be moving past the west coast on Monday night. Peak warmth therefore will be occurring on Monday. For the West Coast. Peak warmth will be occurring on Tuesday for the plains, probably the Rockies as well. Peak warmth will be occurring on Wednesday for areas on the same longitude as the Chicago area, which is much of the Midwest at least the eastern Midwest and then the East Coast we'll be having peak warming occurring on Thursday. Cold Front we'll be moving through the area the evening or afternoons of the peak warming. Temperatures might even hit 60 degrees here in the Chicago area. And again Amarillo, Texas mid 80s We certainly expect to see 90s In some areas of Texas as well. Rio Grande village is holds the record this week for the largest temperature differences between night and day. There will be some days for there will be a 40 to 50 degree difference between night and day. The Stanley Idaho situation has calmed down a lot. And there's no longer a 52 week temperature difference between night and day precipitation will likely follow along this fun for it is a strong cold front part of that fun, we'll be touching the Gulf of Mexico, it seems. So I would imagine there is moisture associated with this cold front. And that brings this podcast to an end. I do want to mention cities. I don't know if I mentioned it yet, but we have cities which you normally would not be going into the 70s this time of the year on the east coast will be going into the 70s on Thursday, such as Philadelphia and probably all the other big cities as well. We are in the midst of just a day before that storm we spoke about last Thursday several days ago, we mentioned that there's going to be a Arctic airmass colliding with copious amounts of Gulf moisture. The gates to the Gulf of Mexico have opened up and all of its moisture is streaming right along the front. In fact, we have A Flash Flood Watch in effect for the Texas area. The storm we spoke about Thursday we mentioned it's going to be getting together organizing itself in the mid part of the country, bringing one to two feet of snow in the bull's eye, nothing has changed. That's the forecast I wanted two feet in the bull's eye, there is more clarity in regards to where this storm is going to be going. It's going to be south of Chicago, South Bend, Indiana will be the bullseye. That's what I think 12 to 24 inches, I think more than 12 inches for South Bend. 1516 inches, maybe even more. More than that maybe 1516. Springfield, Illinois wanted two feet as well. It's hard to say one to two feet, there also could be some freezing rain and sleet over in that area, the beginning of the precipitation might start off as rain even in South Bend, that's not really going to dampen the snow too much, though, a Thursday is going to be really the main powdery heavy snow, that's when the soda water ratio will be 13 to one. As the colder air comes in, the flakes become fluffier, and they pile up quicker. Also, despite the fact we don't have any intense low pressure over here, very strange. We have the arctic air we have the Gulf moisture, usually in the Midwest, in order to produce a major winter storm which is defined to six inches or more, you need a deep low pressure system. You know, I searched and searched I checked the GFS model, I checked the European computer model, and I see an intense low pressure in southern Canada. But that has nothing to do with this. The only thing that has to do with this is that's going to be responsible for bringing in the cold air. It's the front associated with that low pressure in Canada, that's going to bring in the cold air, that's going to cause the precipitation to change to snow rather quickly. But the main precipitation, the main moisture, which is in the hole, all the moisture involved in the systems coming out of the Gulf of Mexico. And it kind of you know, its revolves around this 29.7 low in Texas, if even that that low pressure system then opens up into the Tennessee Valley. Eventually we do find this a 29.7 low pressure system, which moves across the Tennessee or Ohio Valley on Thursday, making its way to the East Coast affecting cities like Buffalo, New York, Syracuse, New York, Providence, Rhode Island as well. Those cities also could get heavy snowfall from this as well wanted to feed again in the bullseye going south of Chicago, Springfield, Illinois, South Bend, Indiana, there also could be some lake effect on the backside, the lake effect snow could also be affecting Chicago. That's really a big wild card over here how much snow is going to be falling Thursday from the lake effect snow, and also the the initial stage, which happens through over running, I think that will affect the Chicago area, bringing several inches of snow and that initial stage the overriding it's really this main system itself. That's the question for the Chicago area. We have arctic air very dry air just to our north, it's going to cause a lot of the snow to evaporate before it touches the ground for the Chicago area, especially areas north of Chicago. And that's why the Chicago area might not get much snow from the system itself. But before that arctic air comes that close to Chicago, we will see some snowfall Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning America, Cheyenne, it's possible the snow might even fall heavily for it time. You know, I searched and searched I checked the GFS model, I checked the European computer model, and I see an intense low pressure in southern Canada. But that has nothing to do with this. The only thing that has to do with this is that's going to be responsible for bringing in the cold air. It's the front associated with that low pressure in Canada, that's going to bring in the cold air, that's going to cause the precipitation to change to snow rather quickly. But the main precipitation, the main moisture, which is in the hole, all the moisture involved in the systems coming out of the Gulf of Mexico. And it kind of you know, its revolves around this 29.7 low in Texas, if even that that low pressure system then opens up into the Tennessee Valley. Eventually we do find this a 29.7 low pressure system, which moves across the Tennessee or Ohio Valley on Thursday, making its way to the East Coast affecting cities like Buffalo, New York, Syracuse, New York, Providence, Rhode Island as well. Those cities also could get heavy snowfall from this as well wanted to feed again in the bullseye going south of Chicago, Springfield, Illinois, South Bend, Indiana, there also could be some lake effect on the backside, the lake effect snow could also be affecting Chicago. That's really a big wild card over here how much snow is going to be falling Thursday from the lake effect snow, and also the the initial stage, which happens through over running, I think that will affect the Chicago area, bringing several inches of snow and that initial stage the overriding it's really this main system itself. That's the question for the Chicago area. We have arctic air very dry air just to our north, it's going to cause a lot of the snow to evaporate before it touches the ground for the Chicago area, especially areas north of Chicago. And that's why the Chicago area might not get much snow from the system itself. But before that arctic air comes that close to Chicago, we will see some snowfall Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning America, Cheyenne, it's possible the snow might even fall heavily for it time.
