SHEMA | EKEV
Thank You Hashem is proud to bring the 12 Pesukim Project to our worldwide audience. This project focuses on a curated collection of foundational biblical verses and Rabbinic sayings that were introduced by the Lubavitcher Rebbe 50 years ago in 1976. His visionary initiative encourages children worldwide to memorize these specific texts, so that every single child should know these verses deeply, being fully armed, ready, and able to teach these foundational truths to other Jews everywhere.

Shema: The Anchor in the Noise / Feat. EKEV
שמע ישראל ה׳ אלהינו ה׳ אחד
"Shema Yisrael, Hashem Elokeinu, Hashem Echad."
"Hear, O Israel: Hashem is our God, Hashem is One."
(Devarim / Deuteronomy 6:4)
The world makes a lot of noise. There is a constant racket out there, a lot of noise inside a person's own head, and life stays very, very busy. It is easy to get completely lost in the rush.
But a Yid says six specific words twice a day, and sometimes even more than that: Shema Yisrael Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad.
Those words are a daily anchor. They serve as a vital reminder to pause and reset. When you say them, you are reminding yourself about what is, at the end of the day, the most important, the most essential, and the most basic truth of existence.
The Ultimate Truth
That truth is simple: everything going on in the world, everything that happens, ultimately comes from Hashem. And because it comes from Hashem, it comes from a place of pure good. Everything is good, and everything will be good, even when the noise makes it hard to see.
This realization changes how you look at the chaos. It becomes the ultimate unifying force amongst all Yidden, and the unifying force at the very heart of Yiddisheit, Judaism. Lema'aseh, in practice, it means that absolutely everything comes from the exact same Source. And no matter how far things seem to drift, everything will eventually find its way right back to that one Source.
