Ki Sisa, Chelek Chof Vov, page 248Whats good about being broken?Moshe broke the Luchos and Hashem said "yasher koach!" Hashem agreed with Moshe and praised him. The yidden served the eigel, Moshe saved the honor of the Torah, etc - this could make sense, but the Rebbe says - no! Its not enough! Moshe could have just hid the luchos (toss into the ocean :)) - why specifically break them? There is something praiseworthy of broken luchos. We see that Moshe was sad about it and Hashem comforted him - the second set of luchos came along with Torah She'baal Peh too! With more, expansion! The 2nd set was an upgrade! And Moshe was praised after the 2nd set was given. The broken luchos made space for something bigger.Breaking the luchos in front of the yidden, broke us open allowing us to be open to Hashem, open to a bigger, better, expanded future. So is being broken the way to go?NO! The secret of the luchos 1 & 2 - broken & whole - is where they were kept - together, in the Aron! The Aron had measurements, yet took no space - the holding of 2 opposites together. Just like we should bring the 2 opposites of broken luchos & whole luchos together. We each have an aron in our hearts and are empowered to live with these 2 aspects together: broken, allowing the space for Hashem in, and whole - being myself fully invested with all my strengths and full self (not a robot). And from the broken moments, we can grow and double and redouble accomplishments! "Why does Hashem break us?" We should have Moshiach NOW and then we can see the greatness of the journey!

May her children and family experience much nechama and brocha!Areas when I think “Why is this happening to me?” “Why did I get myself into this mess?”Lessons from Rashi & The Bigdei Kehuna…Everything is there to teach you in avodas hashem, but in this case, Rashi got into a more messy situation! Rashi was in a situation that he wished hadn’t happened! What do I do with something like this that I can still bring this into my Avodas Hashem? It takes your heart. Your yechida rests in your heart. No experience in the world can blacken the yechida. Even those things that seem to be opposite of the Torah! To be able to take a negative experience and transform it - this power you get from your heart! Only with your heart, your yechida, can you go through a situation where you see something or experience something that you really did not want to. And then you can find the powerful light within the darkness - here it gave Rashi understanding of the Kohen’s Clothing, the Eifod!“Why do i have to have this shmutz in my life?!”Everything is from HashemYou have to be bothered by it, it’s healthy! This experience will push you to a place that brings honor to Hashem!A moment that feels painful - what’s the purpose of this mess? Everything is for a purpose! Listen to your yechida, and find a space that you can elevate & honor Hashem - and ultimately see the light that comes out from this golus, with Moshiach!Chelek Chof Vov page 191

Some notes:2 Jews are 2 hands in 1 body. Clarity of Eretz Yisrael= True Unity. Today is 22 Shvat, Rabbi Binyamin Klein received a call from Eretz Yisrael. Urgent. Needed something from the Rebbe. He called the Rebbe personal phone number. Rabbi Klein felt bad for disturbing them. Rebbetzin answer "this is what we are here for"How do we get out of golus? Learning halacha, take responsibility for your fellow Yid who is in this choking situation, to the extent that it becomes your pleasure 2 partners want to make a wall, as partners. Focus on the UNITY that will be revealed a. For sure between each other, hidden and b. And in our relationship with Hashem We go into Hashem bank account and pull our the supplies we need to overcome the negativity of the golusThis darkness is so powerful we are choking from it The halacha is that Hashem can kick in as the guarantor! Place of chessed not place of din. When we are in golus perspective, it feels not so simple to get Hashem on board. Need to make it happenBut when we learn the yerushalmy - clear light, clear perspective, then we know the partnership of hashem and yidden is clear. We just need to let Hashem know we are in pain. Let Hashem know about the pain of golus and say to Hashem "ad mosai!"Just Hashem seeing a Yid in this moment of pain and Ad Mosai - Hashem will take responsibility for his beloved nation.Hashem will build us the 3rd Beis Hamikdash! Likkutei Sichos Chelek lamed vov. Pg 1. "In this week's Parsha we see that after Moshe kills the mitzri he sees 2 yidden fighting and he becomes fearful and then Pharoah hears about this incident and Moshe runs away. Moshes emotions don’t seem necessary to the story line. Torah is purposefully teaching us something by telling us Moshes emotions. (Midrash brings other examples of Yaakov and Moshe feeling fear - even with direct promises from Hashem that things would be OK). Analyze: what is the bitachon level we are expected to have? a) trust that Hashem WILL do it, not just could do it. -->feel serene, calm. Challenge: what if i don’t deserve it? ie schar v’onesh b) Method 1: Hashem runs the world. All Hashem does is for the good ""gam zu l'tova"" I can be comfortable with whatever happens because it’s from Hashem. The Rebbe says, NO thats not enough! Torah expects more from us --> c) Method 2: Expect & assume that Hashem will do ""Tov HaNireh V'Haniglah"". Hashem WILL save me from my tzarah. Challenge: Im not a tzadik! ""Tracht Gut Vet Zein Gut"" the actual tracht gut is what brings the gut! We are obligated to tracht gut! Actively place myself to rely on Hashem! Bitachon is NOT Emunah. Emunah = Hashem is infinite and kind and all capable. Bitachon = an active stance/avodah that Im taking, and THIS avodah itself makes me worthy to receive the ""Tov HaNireh V'Haniglah"" Bitachon itself causes the yeshua from Hashem. Back to the Moshe story - Moshe verbalized his negative thoughts, the Rebbe says: don’t underestimate the power of our words. Verbalize positivity! When faced with an obstacle, work on your bitachon! Hashem will be able to help you and it will be good. Of course, you must also put dira btachtonim efforts – but we have been promised Tracht Gut Vet Zein Gut! – for real!"

Sicha said on the original Hey Teves! Parshas Vayigash, Sicha said by the Rebbe on the original Hey Teves. Yaakov, Yosef, Egla Arufa & the message from the break in the Aliyah: Yaakov did not see Hashem's hand in the time that Yosef was gone from him, while Yosef saw the purpose from it even during the journey. 1) When we end up going into a difficult situation, on the one hand we need to remain strong and not give in 2) even more than that, transform it into Hashem's place. Interesting that by Hey Teves the Rebbe wanted to regular courts to determine the ruling. The Rebbe uplifts us and empowers us to transform a place into holiness. Even when going through a difficult, he'elem situation, a) we can find the ability within ourself! b) the Rebbe empowers us to transform it completely. Because even if we can't do it on our own, through our connection to the Yosef/Nasi - we can do it. Through our connection to the nasi, we can have the nasi's vision! 135. Mikeitz/Chanukah: Fight for Peace The message of Chanukah is that some things are worth fighting for. When dark forces, within our homes or without, threaten to overwhelm us, we need to fight for peace. The Macabees showed us how to sacrifice everything and connect to the yechida in our soul, where true peace prevails and leaves no room for opposition. Each Shabbos, our candles symbolize the same. The small flame of a 3 year old girl does much to replace darkness with joy, respite, and peace. Imagine that all the the flames of our Shabbos and Chanukah lights come together. They would burst into a great big bonfire to overcome all darkness and usher in the final days of “no hunger or war, no competition or jealousy.” Likkutei Sichos, Chelek Tes vov. Pg 372

Theme: Crushed and confused. The place between one step of growth and another. This week's Sicha is sponsored by Shaina Zirkind in honor of her birthday. "Thank you to Etty for arranging this learning weekly and to Mrs. Schapiro for teaching it!!" This one really hits. That place going from one level to another can be confusing and totally untethered. The nasi asks on all of our behalf that even though right now we look like katonti, a place of confusion, we don't know where to stand on firm ground, Hashem's promise should be fulfilled "Haitiv Eitiv Imach! Hsahem is going to do amazing good things for us! Likkutei Sichos, Parshas Vayishlach: Chelek Chof pg 166

"Yaakovs epic battle with Esavs angel left him limping - and because of this we have the mitzvah not to eat the gid hanashe (sciatic nerve). For such a huge significant battle, struggle and ultimate triumph that Yaakov went through - this being the Jewish peoples story all through our lives & through history - the mitzvah attached to it seems...minor? insignificant? Chassidus tells us - aha! thats exactly the point! Hashems with us in every single ""minor"" detail. The yidden are His beloved people, and every detail is important, with intention - no such thing as ""minor"" when it comes to this special relationship. This sicha is packed with life-changing concepts and the class ends with an awesome story :) Likkutei Sichos, Chelek Lamed, page 148

The inherent ability to do it for Hashem. Thank you to our 2 sponsors - you help us spread these sichos out far & wide! In honor of: Refuah Sheleima for Yisroel Reuven ben Shmeula, smooth & immediate! Happy Birthday to Adina Landa! May it be a shnas hatzlacha, bracha & a year of JOY! Think: Scenario 1: You are doing Avodah out of your comfort zone Scenario 2: Your Avodah also has amazing side benefits, not even for idealistic reasons - you love it, or alternative motivating factors. Very famous Sicha about Akeidas Yitzchak: 10th Test. Kach Na Es Bincha. Hashem says to Avraham: Please take your son. I have tested you with a number of tests and you have passed them all, You have stood through all of them, now stand through this test, so that the others won’t be canceled out. Q. Why would not passing the akeida cancel out all the other amazing tests Avraham surpassed?! Additional Q. The story of the Akeida is our biggest zchus, ultimate peak of our relationship, we mention it every day of davening. Why? What is it about this specific story? We have thousands of examples of crazy mesiras nefesh! Personal mesiras nefesh vs mesiras nefesh with our child. But we have seen this many times! Avraham created the tzinor of mesiras nefesh. The pathway for all of this to be capable. But this is NOT the first Mesiras Nefesh! Avraham did this when he was thrown into the fire publicly for declaring Hashems existence. Still - what is so unique about Akeidas Yitzchak? What is the Torah Definition of Mesiras Nefesh? To be able to give yourself over to Hashem. To put aside your entire metziyos and do it for Hashem. Its not about being so passionate that you are ready to give your life up, its about being fully Hashem focused, even when it means pushing me aside. Akeida - nothing in it for Avraham Avinu Step: 1) its not public, no public applause 2) Avrahams vision will be totally uprooted, this child wont be able to continue the vision 3) not his personality, he is a man of Chessed/Kindness This is the opposite of SELF benefit! The ONLY thing Pushing him to do the Akeida, is that Hashem asked him to do it. Until now, it could all be viewed as a personal agenda Once you do the Akeida, it proves that all the tests were Hashem’s agenda, not a personal gain Today, we stand with the ability to do Hashem’s agenda, even if it's different from what I want. I have the ability to do what Hashem wants me to do, every Yid is inherently able to give themselves over to What Is Hashems Plan For Me. Ois Ches: This is the explanation of why the Akeida is specifically the Opening this Channel, vs Ur Kasdim. Avraham was able to give to us the TRUE definition of Mesiras Nefesh, we are here to do what Hashem wants us to do.  We can be free of ourselves. Desire of every Jew is to do what Hashem wants us to do. So actually, this is truly what MY desire IS. TO do what Hashem wants me to do. Truly what I want. When a Yid does something for Hashem, it could seem its self-centered, but because he is a descendant of Avraham - now the real truth is it is REALLY mesiras nefesh, its truly for Hashem. Higher than any calculation, just like the Akeida. Side cheshbonos, they are not front and center REAL reason is FOR Hashem! Story: Side motivations: a million vs the nickel. The side stuff is the nickel. The million dollar win is that you are doing what Hashem wants you to do! Alter Rebbe brings a halacha in shulchan aruch, its a good thing to say parshas akeida every day. When you read the akeida it empowers you to serve Hashem, just like Yitzchak’s moment of being given over.  Once Avraham opened up the channel for REAL mesiras nefesh, my real desire is to go beyond myself. Any of us who are the children of Avraham, we have it because we are their children.  Its part of our innate DNA. Its a Avraham moment. A yitzchak moment. Any situation that you find yourself in, Its your Akeida moment. You have the ability to be beyond yourself. To be truly and completely given over to Hashem. There may be something in my mind that is not my vision, and its what Hashem puts for me, maybe it doesnt even fit my personality. I have the ability to do it for Hashem. What about all the superficial moments where I do gain? Don’t get stuck there, the real reality is you are the child of Avraham - and it IS for the real reasons!  What we REALLY want is that Moshiach should come! When we get sidetracked, bring ourselves back to the focus! Parshas Vayera, Chelek Chof, page 73.
