And if you don’t tell another Jew the whole truth, then later when someone does, and that Jew is awakened and transformed, he may come back to you with a complaint for not having told him earlier…Ahavas Yisroel requires drawing every Jew near, without conceding even the slightest detail. As the Gemara relates about Rav who, upon arriving in Bavel, “found an open area” (a lack of observance with regard to meat and milk, eruvin, and using a tree on Shabbos), “and he fenced it in” (Rashi: “he imposed stringencies upon them in order to make a safeguard and distance them from sin, like a person who fences in a breached field to protect it.”). And in was precisely in this way that Bavel become a place of Torah, to the extent that “the halachah follows Bavli.” The lesson is that when one encounters a breach, an area in Torah in which the generation isn’t careful, the correct approach is not to relinquish any aspect of Yiddishkeit, but on the contrary, to “fence it in” by adding additional stringencies. Even if at first people won’t be happy about it, nevertheless, since this is Hashem’s will as set forth in the Torah whose “ways are ways of pleasantness and all its paths are peace,” this is the true expression of Ahavas Yisroel, and in the end they will thank him for it.Excerpt from sichah of 19 Kislev 5735 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=24-04-2026 לע"נ מרת מלכה רייזל בת הרה"ח ר' מרדכי דובער ע"ה ראזענפעלד ליום היארצייט שלה ח' אייר. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.נדבת בנה הרב מנחם מענדל הכהן שי' ראזענפעלד

Even a single moment of connection to Torah and mitzvos is eternal and transcends time altogether; therefore, if one delays bringing another Jew closer to Torah for even a moment, he is withholding from him something eternal. But love of the Torah alone is not enough, because one might rely on his own understanding of Torah, and “Bribery blinds the eyes of the wise…” Therefore, one must also love Hashem: before studying Torah he must recite the bracha, “Blessed are You, Hashem, Who gives the Torah” in the present tense etc.3 excerpts from sichah of 19 Kislev 5735 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=23-04-2026 לזכות הת' נפתלי שי' יוניק ליום ההולדת שלו ו' אייר - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובותנדבת הוריו ר' דוד וזוגתו מרת חנה שיחיו יוניק

Based on the above, we can understand the concept of kisui hadam in terms of man’s divine service, and accordingly, why the Gemara says that “the father of them all is blood”: In matters of holiness there must be an abundance of “blood” (vitality and enthusiasm), like the blood of offerings that was offered upon the Mizbeach, which mostly came from domesticated animals (who have more blood than wild animals and birds). In contrast, things that have less “blood” and vitality (like the blood of wild animals and birds) may be used for permitted, mundane matters, but with the caveat that their blood must be “covered,” and specifically “with earth.” That is, out of concern that a person will feel the opposite of humility from the very fact that Hashem chose him and gave him a mitzvah etc., one might wish to refrain entirely from the whole matter of shechitah, so as to avoid a situation where he would have to cover the blood etc. But we are told that the solution is not to avoid shechitah altogether (because shechitah is itself a mitzvah), but rather to find a way to prevent the feeling of self, namely, by “covering the blood with earth,” which represents bitul (as in the expression, “…and let my soul be as dust before all).” With this mitzvah the Rambam concludes the Book of Kedushah, which represents the general concept of becoming a holy nation by keeping the mitzvos (“…Who has sanctified us with His commandments…”), whose “father is blood.”3 excerpts from sichah of Wednesday night, parashas Naso, 12 Sivan 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=22-04-2026 לזכות מרת בתשבע בת אסתר ריזל שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה ה' אייר - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

As the Gemara says, “The father of them all is blood.” Seemingly, why is this principle derived from kisuy hadam, which is not a particularly stringent mitzvah (to the contrary – there are several leniencies: the blood can be covered even by someone other than the one who slaughtered the animal, and even by women etc.). Moreover, why does the Gemara say, “The father of them all is blood,” if the principle is derived not from the blood itself (which “has no sanctity”), but from the manner of covering it? The explanation is as follows: The “blood” that is the “father of them all” is the blood (which represents the vitality and enthusiasm) of the offerings brought upon the Mizbeach. In other words, all mitzvos must be performed with vitality and enthusiasm. This can be better understood by explaining why the mitzvah of kisuy hadam applies only to wild animals and birds, but not domesticated animals: Seemingly, the reason for the mitzvah is to negate the tendency of cruelty (i.e., one should not eat meat when the animal’s blood is right in front of him). In that case, the mitzvah would seem to be even more applicable to domesticated animals, which have more blood than wild animals and birds? The answer is the mitzvah applies only to non-sacred meat, and since most offerings come from domesticated animals, the Torah did not obligate us to cover the blood of domesticated animals at all, so as not to differentiate between sacred and non-sacred animals, but only the blood of wild animals and birds (from which only a minority of offerings are brought). It should be noted that in the desert, there was no non-sacred slaughtered meat from domesticated animals, and there were no consecrated birds (because birds are used for a poor person’s offering, and the Jewish people in the desert were wealthy). Regarding immersion, the law is that a spring purifies even in the smallest amount. That is, water that is openly connected to its source purifies a person from even the most severe form of impurity (contact with a corpse) and with even the smallest amount, provided that one is entirely covered by it (theoretically, a single drop can be thinly spread over one’s entire body). In terms of divine service: when a person is completely immersed in an awareness that is openly connected to G-dliness, with nothing intervening between them (neither eating and drinking, nor business dealings, nor even Torah study when one studies with the feeling that his success results from his own abilities rather than from Hashem’s blessing), then even the slightest measure of this awareness can purify him from the most severe impurity, and then “before Hashem you will be purified” (as the verse states in shelishi of parashas Acharei). And this is the function of the inner dimension of Torah: even a single drop of it can purify a person...Excerpt from sichah of Purim 5717 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=20-04-2026 לע"נ הרב לוי יצחק ע"ה בן – יבלח"ט – הרב חיים צבי שי' וואלאסאוו

(2) The conclusion of the Torah – “…with regard to all the signs and wonders…in view of the entire Jewish people.” (3) The beginning of Shas –“Me’eimasai…,” which alludes to the higher level of awe of Hashem. There is no real reason for the fact that rabbonim have not discussed it publicly, and these days, one cannot rely on the assumption that when the time comes, young women will learn about it at home (and certainly not about) all the detailed laws; therefore, there is no alternative but for rabbonim to speak loudly and publicly and at every opportunity about the importance of family purity in general, and to immediately announce the establishment of classes on the detailed laws where they can answer questions etc. And this is the first mission incumbent upon the women – to demand from the rabbonim (in a respectful manner) to establish classes on the subject in shuls and girls’ schools etc., and not to rest until they are implemented in practice. Even during the summer, it is possible and obligatory to arrange such classes – and it can all be done in a modest manner etc.Excerpt from sichah of Sunday, parashas Shelach, 17 Sivan 5740, during the N’shei U’bnos Chabad convention For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=17-04-2026 לע"נ ר' מנחם מענדל ב"ר ראובן צבי יהודה ע"ה פייגעלשטאק ליום היארצייט שלו בדר"ח אייר. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

It can be said that the empowerment for this was given on Rosh Chodesh Nissan, the eighth day of the Miluim, when the training of Aharon and his sons for the service of the Mishkan was completed. This follows what we discussed numerous times during the month of Nissan about the tremendous importance and necessity of Jewish education, which is also the underlying point of all the Mivtzoim – to educate more Jews to keep mitzvos. Similarly, one must educate oneself in these matters, because one can always learn more and ascend higher in holiness; within every person there is both the educator and the one being educated. And “Action is the main thing”: we must strive to ensure that every young Jew – whether young in years or “young” in knowledge – receive a proper Jewish education. And what is especially timely as summer approaches is to ensure that every Jewish child be enrolled in a proper Jewish summer camp etc.Excerpt from sichah of the first night of Rosh Chodesh Iyar 5736 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=16-04-2026 לע"נ הרב שלמה ב"ר אלטער בצלאל ע"ה קופצ'יקליום היארצייט שלו כ"ט ניסןת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

With respect to placing the responsibility for hastening the Redemption upon every Jew, there is no difficulty from the story of Hoshea ben Elah. The Gemara states that although Hoshea ben Elah removed the restrictions that previously prevented the ten tribes from making the trip to Yerushalayim, he was punished, “inasmuch as there was no one preventing them, and [still] they did not go up,” that is, he “removed the chain of culpability” from himself and placed it upon the people. But here, we are not talking about “placing a chain of culpability,” but simply urging and bringing attention to the concept that the coming of the Redemption depends only upon one deed, word, or thought; this is a concept that appears in seforim and it is clear that there are people who are able to do it. From the Gemara’s discussion at the conclusion of Masechta Sotah, it is clear that when it says that “All the kitzin have passed, and the matter depends only upon teshuvah,” it is referring to these moments, and we cannot postpone the ketz any longer. And since we do not know exactly what is holding back the Redemption, we must do everything that is described as a cause for Redemption, which is also why we have been discussing the Redemption so much lately – to awaken everyone in this regard.2 excerpts from sichah of Purim 5747 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=15-04-2026 לע"נ הרב לוי יצחק ע"ה בן – יבלח"ט – הרב חיים צבי שי' וואלאסאוו

The only explanation I have found (and after much toil) is that from now on, the responsibility has passed from “the Nasi who is everything” to “everyone.” The responsibility for hastening the Redemption now rests upon every Jew, man, woman, and child. And it can be caused by even a single deed, word, or even thought, as the Rambam states as a matter of halacha: “If one performs one mitzvah, he tips his balance and that of the entire world to the side of merit and brings salvation and deliverance to himself and others.” It is no longer possible to suffice with merely studying this halacha; rather, it must be fulfilled in practice. When one does so himself, and especially when includes others in doing so, and even when one merely resolves to do so, he “tips the balance for himself and the entire world to the side of merit and causes great salvation for himself and for them.” Sefiras HaOmer is compared to the service of purifying the Sotah and the animal soul; Sefiras HaOmer took place the first time when the Jewish people left Egypt, when their state was such that “the people fled,” and they worked on this service until the forty-ninth day, when they said “We will do” before “We will hear.” The service of Sefiras HaOmer brings “completeness” to every Jew, and draws down the level of the fiftieth day, in which there are two aspects: (a) The aspect linked to the Jewish people’s service of Sefiras HaOmer; and (b) the aspect that comes down from above during Mattan Torah. Similarly, these two aspects apply to every day of Sefira: (a) One makes an independent bracha on each day’s counting, and (b) each day is part of the totality of the entire count and of (the two aspects within) the fiftieth day. From all this we can understand the special quality of the current day, after we have completed the service of counting all forty-nine days etc.Excerpt from sichah of Wednesday night, Erev Shavuos 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=13-04-2026 לע”נ מרת מרים בת ר' אהרן דוב ע"ה סוויד ליום היארצייט שלה כ"ו ניסן. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

From the very fact that there is a halacha obligating him to do so, we must say that Hashem will grant him the ability to bring a wealthy person’s offering, and from his own funds. And this is the wondrous lesson: When a Jew resolves with mesiras-nefesh to do a favor for another Jew, even when it is beyond his natural capacity, it is clear that Hashem will grant him the ability to fulfill his resolution. As we saw with my father-in-law, the Rebbe, including the well-known story of the Jew who undertook to fund the printing of the Tzemach Tzedek’s seforim: at the time of his commitment, it was beyond his capacity, but with the Rebbe’s bracha he became wealthy and fulfilled his pledge.Excerpt from sichah of Thursday night, 26 Tishrei 5746 –Yechidus Klalis for Tishrei guests For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=12-04-2026 לזכות שמואל הכהן בן רוזה חנה שי' ליום ההולדת שלו כ"ה ניסן – לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובותנדבת אביו ר' ‏אברהם הכהן שי'‏

The answer is that on Pesach, every single moment is permeated openly with the Exodus, both in terms of proactively leaving Egypt, and in terms of avoiding chametz. Similarly, on Shabbos Hagadol there are a number of customs that are openly linked to the Exodus from Egypt, to the extent that it is called “Shabbos Hagadol” on account of the “great miracle” that occurred etc. But if so, the question can be asked in the reverse: what is added by remembering the Exodus every day? The answer is that the Exodus from Egypt on Pesach is incomparably greater when it comes after preparing for it by remembering the Exodus from Egypt during the year. And as is seen in practice: when one experiences the Exodus every day, constantly and with vitality, then when Shabbos Hagadol arrives, it is easier for him to be awakened, and all the more so on Pesach.4 excerpts from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos Hagadol, 11 Nissan 5739 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=10-04-2026 לע"נ הרב לוי יצחק ע"ה בן – יבלח"ט – הרב חיים צבי שי' וואלאסאוו

משיחת מוצאי ש"פ צו, שבת הגדול, אור לי"א ניסן ה'תשל"ט ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=07-04-2026 Synopsis The obligation to recall the Exodus from Egypt twice every day emphasizes how much the Exodus is a “foundation and pillar” of our faith, which must permeate all of one’s deeds the day. Because keeping all of Torah and mitzvos –“our life and the length of our days” – is tied to the Exodus, as explained in Tanya: when one properly engages in Torah and mitzvos, he forges a connection and bond (tzavsa v’chibur) with Hashem, which constitutes an exodus from all constraints and limitations. This also requires preparation on one’s own part, to leave his own constraints and limitations. And although “A prisoner cannot free himself from prison” nevertheless: (a) “The Holy One, blessed be He, helps him” (just as Hashem redeemed the Jewish people from Egypt). Obviously, since it is Hashem who created the whole existence of Egypt and exile, He is not subject to their restrictions chas v’shalom. (b) Even within the Jew himself, there is the pintele Yid and the essence of his soul, which never went into exile to begin with. This spark empowers his revealed faculties, down to his thought, speech, and action, so that he can be a truly free person.Excerpt from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos Hagado, 11 Nissan 5739 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=07-04-2026 לזכות נחמה בת חי' שרה שתחי' וויינבוים ליום ההולדת שלה שביעי של פסחלשנת ברכה והצלחה‏, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות*לע"נ הת' יוסף יצחק ע"ה בן - יבלחט"א - ר' צבי זאב שי' זקלס ליום היארצייט שלו שביעי של פסח. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

משיחת יום ב', ג' דחוה"מ פסח, י"ט ניסן ה'תשמ"ו, להילדים והילדות – "צבאות השם" – שיחיו ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=06-04-2026 Synopsis At this gathering, which is taking place during Pesach, there is no need to explain the significance of the day, both because of the those assembled and because of the nature of Pesach: (1) Jewish children occupy a primary place in all matters of Pesach; indeed, the whole Seder begins with the child asking questions, and the rest of it is devoted to answering the children’s questions. The lesson is that children must reflect upon what is taking place around them, and if there is something they have not yet learned, they must immediately ask about it, and they will surely receive an explanation from their parents and educators etc. (2) We are commanded to remember the Exodus from Egypt every day, which is emphasized in particular at a gathering connected Pesach. The task of Jewish children is to nullify the yetzer hara and to strengthen the yetzer tov, which is also emphasized particularly on Pesach, where the removal and burning of chametz represents nullifying the yetzer hara (“Turn away from evil)” and eating matzah (“the bread of faith”) represents strengthening the yetzer tov (“Do good”). And this is the “order of the day” taken from Pesach for the entire year – “in a remembrance of the Exodus from Egypt.”Excerpt from sichah of Monday, 3rd day of Chol Hamoed Pesach, 19 Nissan 5746 – to the children of Tzivos Hashem For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=06-04-2026 לע"נ הרבנית מרת רחל דוואשא בת הרה"ג הרה"ח ר' ישראל ע"ה אלטיין ליום היארצייט שלה י"ט ניסן. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

The Jewish people rose up against them; they struck some, they killed some…Moshe said to [the Jewish people]: Turn back, so that Pharaoh will not say that you are fleeing…” The lesson is that when the yetzer-hara tries to push foolishness on a Jewish child, the child must show that he is not affected by it at all.Excerpt from sichah of the 4th day of Pesach, 18 Nissan 5745 – to the children of Tzivos Hashem For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=05-04-2026 לע”נ ר' משה ב"ר דוד הכהן ע"ה ליום היארצייט שלו ח"י ניסן. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.נדבת בנו ר' אברהם הכהן שי'‏

Therefore, these two aspects are also found in the Korban Pesach, which was the preparation for the Exodus from Egypt, at which time the Jewish people were born: On the one hand, it is an individual offering, but on the other hand, it was brought by the majority of the community. The lesson is as follows: There are governments where the individual has no importance at all, and is totally absorbed within the collective. But the Torah approach is that the individual is an independent entity and a “complete world,” which is always taken into consideration, and which sometimes outweighs the interest of the collective. This is also the virtue of the United States, a country to which many Jews escaped from behind the Iron Curtain, including my father-in-law, the Rebbe, who, immediately upon arrival, announced that he had come to demonstrate that “America is no different,” and that even here it is possible to conduct oneself in accordance with Torah and mitzvos – all of which was made possible because the community and the government of this country devoted themselves to saving an individual. For this we express gratitude to the government and to those who stand at its helm, who do their utmost to safeguard the rights of the individual, including the ability to keep Yiddishkeit freely.Excerpt from sichah of 11 Nissan 5737 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=01-04-2026 לע"נ הרב לוי יצחק ע"ה בן – יבלח"ט – הרב חיים צבי שי' וואלאסאוו

If it is so obvious to Jews there, behind the Iron Curtain, that one must farbreng on 13 Nissan – how much more so must Jews continue the farbrengen in places where there are no such restrictions etc. One of the unique qualities of the Tzemach Tzedek is the extraordinary abundance of his Torah insights on all areas of Torah, from which everyone must take a lesson and publish their own Torah insights. Just that, in order to implement the teachings of Chabad Chassidus in practice, and more specifically, to bring blessing and success to all aspects of the Jewish peoples’ service, which is to make a dwelling place for Hashem in the lower realms, especially by spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus outward – the work must be carried out in an orderly fashion, and by “all of us as one.” And for this, there must be an individual whose role is to strive to bring unity to the Jewish people etc. Therefore, it is understood that this excuse – that the farbrengen is linked to the birthday of a private individual – is only an external factor, and only in order to bring as many Jews as possible to gather and to strengthen themselves in spreading the wellsprings outward. On the other hand, had this opportunity not been utilized because of humility, it would have come at the expense of less being done to spread the wellsprings outward.2 excerpts from sichah of 11 Nissan 5745 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=29-03-2026 לזכות מנחם מענדל הלוי בן מרישה מרים שי' פייזקוב ליום ההולדת שלו י"א ניסןולזכות לוי הלוי בן מרישה מרים שי' פייזקוב ליום ההולדת שלו י"ח ניסןלשנת ברכה והצלחה‏, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

When I came before Ameimar, he said to me: With regard to you, [the verse] ‘And kings will be your foster fathers’ was fulfilled.” The lesson is as follows: Sweat represents gevuros; thus the verse states, “They shall not gird themselves in a place of sweat,” because the service must be carried out with kindness and mercy, beyond the measure and limitation stemming from gevurah. Another point: The purpose of a belt is to separate between the upper half of the body, where the more refined organs are located, and the lower half, where the digestive organs etc. are located. This is also the meaning of “They shall not gird themselves in a place of sweat” (e.g., near the elbows), rather, one should lower the belt in order to minimize the space of the lower half as much as possible. (This is why the Bnei Yishmael wear a belt on the head, and it stems from the Mitznefes of the Kohen Gadol etc.) The lesson is that although matters relating to the “bottom half” are necessary in a person’s life, he should know that they are the “bottom,” and they must remain under the control of the upper half – “All your deeds should be for the sake of heaven.”Excerpt from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos Parashas Tzav 5739 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=27-03-2026 לזכות ר' משה הכהן בן רוזה חנה שי' ליום ההולדת שלו ט' ניסן – לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובותנדבת אביו ‏ר' אברהם הכהן שי'‏

Rather, one must begin every new day by offering a “morning tamid” – taking yet another aspect of this physical world and turning it into a korban for Hashem. This is also the response to those who argue, why am I being asked to get involved in Mivtzoim and the like; after all, haven’t I already built a “house…prepared for korbanos to offered within it”? The answer is that it is not enough to have a “house prepared,” because “action is the main thing” – one must go out and find the “animals, cattle and flocks” etc. and turn them into a korban for Hashem.2 excerpts from sichah of Purim 5738. Thus, the moon represents the time of exile, when darkness prevails in the world due to the yetzer hara darkening the instruction of the Torah etc. (though there are differences between weekdays and Shabbos and Yom Tov etc.) In contrast, the light of the sun, “the greater luminary,” never changes; it always shines with great intensity, representing the time of Redemption, when the light of Torah shines fully and constantly. But even during the exile, when only the lesser luminary shines, a Jew must do everything within his power to dispel the darkness by increasing in the Torah of light. (2) The lesson from revi’i of parashas Tzav, which discusses the beginning of the miluim, at which time the entire Mishkan was prepared and ready etc., is as follows: We must know that we have already reached the end of the night of exile, and everything is prepared for the building of the third Beis HaMikdash. It is easier for children to fulfill this abovementioned mission of influencing their parents than it is for parents to fulfill their mission toward their children. Because for parents to influence their children, they sometimes need to use a sharp word or gesture etc., but that is never necessary when it comes to children influencing parents, due to the parents’ great love for their children. If children simply speak to their parents with respect and with words that come from the heart, explaining that they want the home to be conducted as a Jewish home in every respect, including preparing for Pesach in such a way that it will be a kosher and happy Pesach – it is certain that the parents will gladly fulfill their children’s request. Children who have already done so should continue, and those who have not yet done so should begin: every boy and girl should approach their parents and speak to them about Yiddishkeit in general, and about preparing for Pesach in particular, and they should promise, and demonstrate that they truly mean it, by personally taking part in the preparations – and then their words will surely have their desired effect.Excerpt from sichah of 11 Nissan 5740 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=24-03-2026 לזכות זעלדא בת חי'ה ריסא שתחי׳ ונגר ליום ההולדת שלה ו' ניסן - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובותנדבת אבי' ר' שמואל שי' ונגר

Therefore, we turn to the children: The verse “I will bless those who bless you” applies even when children bless another Jew – Hashem blesses them to be a source of nachas to their parents by behaving properly and fulfilling their mission in the world, which is to be the future of the family and of the Jewish nation. Along with the mitzvah of honoring one’s father and mother, children must know that there are another 612 mitzvos, and only by keeping them will they fulfill their mission and give their parents true honor and true nachas. This must begin from a very young age, as the Torah teaches, “From when a child begins to speak,” one must say to him, “The Torah that Moshe commanded us…”; this ensures that “even when he grows old he will not depart from it” (scientists have only recently begun to discover the profound impact on a child’s entire life from what they see or hear as an infant). The children’s proper behavior brings vitality and light to the entire home; this is their privilege, their responsibility, and their mission. (b) Sefer HaChinuch explains that the reason for the Chavitei Kohen Gadol (discussed in sheini of parashas Tzav) is because due to the unique status of the Kohen Gadol, it is fitting that he offer a special korban every day, similar to the Tamid offered every day on behalf of the public. In terms of divine service: The Kohen Gadol represents the level of Yechidah of the entire Jewish people. Similarly, there is the Yechidah within every Jew, which constantly affects a Jew throughout the entire day. But the Yechidah exists in a manner of makif, and for it to be internalized, it must expressed in the details etc., as the parashah goes on to describe: “This is the law of the Chatas”; “This is the law of the Asham” etc.Excerpt from sichah of Monday, parashas Tzav, Taanis Esther 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=22-03-2026 לע"נ הרב לוי יצחק ע"ה בן – יבלח"ט – הרב חיים צבי שי' וואלאסאוו

And this is the reason why my father-in-law, the Rebbe, began writing and publishing his memoirs at the time, and in different languages. Seemingly, if the goal is draw a Jew closer to Yiddishkeit, why would he send a book of memoirs rather than a maamar Chassidus that he can understand etc.? The answer is that there were Jews who were so focused on the wants of the animal soul that they wouldn’t even allow a maamar into their home; therefore, he put material whose content is Torah and mitzvos in the external form of stories and memoirs, so that they would read it and ultimately be drawn to the inner content as well. This explains how he could devote his time to writing memoirs at the expense of composing maamarim (which seemingly is totally illogical): when it comes to saving a Jew from drowning in the sea of ignorance Rachmana litzlan, there is no room for logical calculations – if one cannot be pulled out of the water with a maamar etc., then he must be pulled out with a story whose content will eventually place him in a place of light. In this way it is possible to raise “offspring who are alive” even in Egypt, and thereby “he, too is alive.” But according to halacha, a person does not fulfill the mitzvah of pru u’rvu unless one’s children have children of their own. Therefore, it is not enough that “his offspring is alive”; rather, those offspring must themselves make sure to give life to others.Excerpt from sichah of 10 Shevat 5726 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=20-03-2026 לזכות חוה בת דבורה לאה שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה ג' ניסן - לשנת ברכה והצלחה‏, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

This is why we saw in Russia that he worked on sending a melamed to one faraway place to teach Alef-Beis at the same time and with the same enthusiasm and mesiras nefesh as his work to ensure that Chassidim in a different community would study Chassidus the entire Thursday night. Similarly, when he arrived in the United States, the work was in both extremes: He founded a yeshivah where Chassidus would be studied in depth etc., and at the same time, he worked to ensure that public school children who had received no Jewish education at all would be taught Alef-Beis. And they both go together: Since his work and concern for others was imbued with the essence of his soul and he gave his life for it, there was no room for making logical calculations. Therefore, it didn’t matter what needed to be done for another Jew; as long as it involved another Jew, the “essence was drawn to the essence” and he devoted himself to it with mesiras nefesh (and when it comes to saving a life, it is a mitzvah for it to be done by a leader of the Jewish people). (2) The Nasi who brought the offering on this day was Nachshon ben Aminadav, who caused the Splitting of the Sea of Reeds, which we are obligated to remember every day, just like the Exodus from Egypt. Thus: “Their problem is their solution:” Because the Beis Hamikdash is no longer standing, every Jew, not just a Kohen, can now accomplish through his own tefillah what used to be achieved through the korbanos (because today we accomplish only the spiritual equivalent of the korbanos, which can be done by anyone).Excerpt from sichah of 20 Marcheshvan 5745 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=17-03-2026 לע"נ הרב לוי יצחק ע"ה בן – יבלח"ט – הרב חיים צבי שי' וואלאסאוו

(Even though there’s only so much money he needs, because there’s only so much he can eat and only so much he’s going to give to tzedakah, and even though the money isn’t going to have any value after Moshiach comes, this is what he wants – to be called a gvir.) But he must know that so long as he remains in exile, Hashem is in exile as well. And if he possesses even a bit of mentchlichkeit, he will have compassion on Hashem, forgo his sleep, and do everything in his power to make the Redemption come even a moment sooner.2 excerpt from sichah of Lag B’Omer 5738 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=16-03-2026 לע"נ הרב לוי יצחק ע"ה בן – יבלח"ט – הרב חיים צבי שי' וואלאסאוו

This relates to maamarim of our Rebbeim on the verse, “He redeemed my soul in peace from the battle against me…”: The “battle” is the struggle between the G-dly soul and the animal soul, where the G-dly soul brings the animal soul as an offering. As a result, the “soul is “redeemed in peace,” meaning the G-dly soul itself is elevated, and in a manner of peace, which refers to the study of (the inner dimension of) Torah. “From cattle” represents the attribute of gevurah, the service “inciting the good inclination against the evil inclination.” “From the flock” represents awakening abundant compassion before Hashem upon one’s soul, by contemplating one’s state and condition. “From birds” (which are derived from “the face of the eagle,” which is compassionate) represents the compassion that is not awakened through contemplation, but which stems from one’s very essence.Excerpt from maamar (k’ein sicha) of 10 Kislev 5745 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=15-03-2026 לזכות חנה ליבא בת חי' שרה שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה כ"ו אדרלשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות ‏

And this is the general, wide-ranging, and fundamental lesson for everyone: Every day one must study Torah “as Hashem commanded Moshe” – with the same “reverence, fear, quaking and trembling” as someone who hears it directly from the mouth of Hashem. And the fact that the physical ear doesn’t hear it doesn’t change the reality (like the well-known parable of Jews sitting in a wagon discussing Torah as they travel on their way to fulfill a Divine mission. The fact that the horse is thinking about the straw it will receive when they get there doesn’t change the reality and truth of the Torah they are learning). Therefore, when one realizes that this is the reality, it is obvious that his learning will be “with reverence, fear, quaking and trembling.” And so it must be when he later “assembles communities” and conveys to them the word of Hashem, and so too when he makes an honest accounting etc. In this way Hashem’s intent is fulfilled properly. And since Hashem “requests only according to their ability,” it is certain that everyone has the ability to do it.Excerpt from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos Parashas Vayakhel-Pekudei, Parashas HaChodesh 5739 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=13-03-2026 לזכות ר' סיני יוסף הלוי בן שרה זיסל שי' וויינבוים ליום ההולדת שלו כ"ד אדרלשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות ‏*לע"נ הרבנית מרת חוה ע"ה בת הרה"צ הרב אברהם יהושע העשיל זצוק"ל גורארי'ליום היארצייט שלה כ"ד אדרת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

The simple, wide-ranging, and crucial lesson is as follows: The Torah of Truth is the guide for life that illuminates a Jew’s path in this world, to the extent that Torah study contains the the quality of “leading to action” (unlike secular studies etc.) so that ultimately, “the luminary within it brings him back to good.” Therefore, one begins with studying Torah and the word of Hashem the way Hashem commanded it to Moshe (in Terumah and Tetzaveh). Then comes “Vayakhel”: with the same degree of enthusiasm and self-sacrifice that one heard it himself “from the mouth of the Almi-ghty” or from the mouth of Moshe (the Sage of his generation), he now assembles others and transmits Hashem’s instructions regarding the Mishkan to them. This enthusiasm also continues in the stage of action, where one actually builds his part of the Mishkan etc. And even afterwards, when the time comes to make an accounting of all this, one doesn’t suffice with making a general, quick accounting, rather, he does it in full detail (like the detailed tally in Pekudei). This is why Hashem invested Himself so much in all the details when He spoke to Moshe, to the extent that he showed Moshe everything when he was on the mountain, and recorded all the details in the Torah. And all the details, with all the fanfare, are repeated again when the command is conveyed to the Jewish people, and even that is not enough: although the Jewish people could presumably be relied upon to carry out the command (because “all Jews are presumed upright,” especially after they were forgiven for the sin of the golden calf), all the details are repeated again when the Torah makes an accounting of the donations actually given to the Mishkan and again when the Torah describes the command being carried out in practice. Why does it not simply state briefly that Moshe conveyed Hashem’s command to the Jewish people, and they carried it out fully? And even if they also dyed the wool while it was still on the sheep, by the time the wool was ready to be shorn and used, the wool would have grown, and the new part of the wool would have been undyed. I received many questions about this explanation, with different proposals as to how the wool could have been dyed from the backs of the sheep, but they overlook the simple reality that wool is dyed by placing the wool in a boiling pot with the dye, which obviously can’t be done when the wool is still on the sheep. The purpose of the explanation was only to say that even if they wanted to depart from the usual practice and dye every strand individually while it was still on the sheep (with a brush and the like), it wouldn’t have helped because by the time it was to be used the wool would have grown more.

This is because the point of Torah is not to remain in the intellect, but to also affect the emotions of the heart – and to remove even the emotional impact of death (“What will purify it?”) is a very lofty and difficult task even after all the intellectual explanations. Therefore, even after Hashem revealed Parashas Parah, and even after it permeated the intellect (and in Moshe’s case, it permeated the emotions as well), it remained a wonder for the Jewish people with respect to the emotions. Nevertheless, every Jew is expected to at least strive to bring himself to a state where it penetrates the emotions as well – and we are empowered to do this when we read Parashas Parah in the Torah.Excerpt from sichah of 21 Adar 5748 (marking the shloshim of the Rebbetzin זי"ע) For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=06-03-2026 לזכות בנימין בן נחמה דינה שי' ליום ההולדת שלו י"ח אדר - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

And this ascent is the only reason Hashem allowed such a descent to take place in the first place (as explained regarding the verse “an awesome pretext upon the sons of man”), and the same applies to the ascent that will take place very soon with the coming of Moshiach. This is why the entire parshah, including the undesirable part, is called Ki Sisa (“When you lift up…”). This transformation creates a new reality, like the effect of teshuvah, through which “intentional sins become like merits,” a transformation from one extreme to the other. When one encounters a Jew who is on the level of “pur” (as a result of being “taken captive among the nations), one must “turn him around” until he begins to dance with the greatest joy (ad d’lo yada – to the point of “not knowing”) from the privilege of being one whose “laws are different.” Despite the fact that “We are still the servants of Achashverosh,” and the name of the Yom Tov remains “Purim,” nevertheless we reveal that “hu hagoral” (“it is the lot”) – something that transcends reason and intellect (“lo yada”). Similarly, we transform all matters of “Persia and Media” into holiness by serving Hashem in such a way that “All your deeds are for the sake of Heaven” and “Knowing Him in all your ways” (as the Rambam states, the first mitzvah is “to know that there is a Primary Being who brings all existence into being.”).2 excerpts from sichah of Tuesday, parashas Tzav, Purim 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=04-03-2026 לעילוי נשמת ר' אברהם ב"ר חיים יהושע ע"ה ליום היארצייט שלו ט"ו אדר (א'). ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

This is surprising, considering that one of the merits by which the Jewish people were redeemed from Egypt is that “they did not change their language.” The lesson can be understood based on the verse in the Megillah, “There is one people that is scattered and dispersed among the peoples...”: Even when the Jewish people are “scattered and dispersed,” what is seen openly, and what is primary for them, is the fact that they are “one people,” which is due to the fact that “their laws are different.” To the contrary, the fact that they are “separate” strengthens their unity. Therefore, the effect of this farbrengen must be one that expresses the name of the Yom Tov – the word “Purim” in the Persian language: Even a Jew who doesn’t yet know Lashon HaKodesh must be informed about Purim, and one should not wait until after this Jew learns about other areas of Torah and mitzvos first. Similarly, when one sees something mundane (“pur”), he must see the inner purpose within it: “it is the goral” – to transform it into something holy and a Yom Tov, and one whose joy reaches the point of ad d’lo yada – even greater than the Yom Tov of Pesach. And it wasn’t for purposes of chinuch because: (1) Children are not trained to fast until an older age, and even then, only for a few hours, not for three days. (2) The Midrash implies that Haman’s decree was annulled primarily in the merit of the children fasting, which indicates that their fasting was an integral part of the fast, not just for purposes of chinuch. (3) The purpose of chinuch is to train a child to do something that he will later be obligated to do, whereas this was a one-time fast that the children would not have to observe in the future. rather, the explanation is as follows: Even for the adults, the decree was annulled not because of their intellect, but because of the childlike property within them (and the bitul of their intellect), namely, their mesirus nefesh in the manner of ad d’lo yada (“until one does not know…”). The Midrash says that when the mothers wanted to bring food to their children, the children refused and insisted on continuing to fast with Mordechai. The lesson is that while it is true that a mother must have a sense of compassion, especially for her children, nevertheless, the moment she hears that Mordechai instructed the children to fast, all her questions fall away and she allows the children to fulfill his directive.2 excerpts from farbrengen of Purim 5728 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=02-03-2026 לזכות אהרן דוד הלוי בן הדרה שי' ליום ההולדת שלו י"ג אדרלשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות‏*לזכות הת' חיים שי' יוניק ליום ההולדת שלו י"ג אדר - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובותנדבת הוריו ר' דוד וזוגתו מרת חנה שיחיו יוניק

The fact that the Machatzis HaShekel serves “to atone for your souls” also has a connection to the story of Purim, when the Jewish people were in need of “atonement for your souls” (including for their physical bodies, which were the subject of Haman’s decree). Even a “five-year-old learning Scripture” understands plainly how giving the Machatzis HaShekel brings “atonement for your souls,” based on Rashi’s explanation on the verse “This they must give…”: “He showed [Moshe] the appearance of a coin of fire…and said to him, ‘They must give [a coin] like this.’” The child also understands how the Machatzis HaShekel “uplifts the head of the Jewish people” (“Ki sisa”). There is also a wondrous connection between Machatzis HaShekel, which was used to make the foundations of the Mishkan, and the verse, “Out of the mouths of small children and suckling babies You have founded strength…” (discussed in the maamar of Purim Katan 5687).2 excerpts from sichah of Sunday, parashas Ki Sisa, Purim Katan 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=01-03-2026

This can be compared to a boiling bath…” In terms of a Jew’s Divine service: when a Jew observes a miracle or hashgacha protis, such as when we are saved from those who rise up against us to destroy us, “Amalek” comes and tries to cool him down and cast doubts: maybe it wasn’t a miracle, but “my strength and the might of my hand” etc. One must remember and not forget that this coldness belongs to Amalek and to the yetzer hara – not to a Jew. In this way, “Hashem will wage war against Amalek” and Amalek will be defeated.Excerpt from sichah of Purim 5727 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=27-02-2026 לזכות חנה שתחי' סלונים לרגל היכנסה לגיל המצוות י' אדר ה'תשפ"ונדבת הורי' ר' יהודה ליב וחיה מושקא שיחיו סלונים

But the truth is that the his escape is only a superficial reason for his coming to America; if one looks at it more deeply he will see that it is part of the bigger picture of his primary focus and the purpose of his mission in this world, which is to unite the Jewish people by spreading Yiddishkeit. The lesson is as follows: even one’s eating and drinking etc. should not be “different” from his davening and learning; they too must be part of his service of Hashem (by making a bracha before and after etc.), because every aspect of a person draws its vitality from his soul as part of the “Man,” who is called “Adam” because “edameh l’Elyon” (“I will emulate the Most High”).3 excerpts from sichah of 10 Shevat 5743 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=26-02-2026

Rather, he continues to behave as Mordechai the Jew, and he needs no other strategy to succeed and to remain second to the king. Not only is this what the Torah says, but even Achashveirosh agrees that Mordechai should be second to the king precisely because he sees that Mordechai is a man of truth who remains a Jew and isn’t swayed by anyone.Excerpt from sichah of Purim 5728 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=25-02-2026

The Torah was specifically given in this world, in order to connect physical matter with Hashem and to imbue the world, which by nature is subject to time, with the quality of eternity, “freedom from the angel of death.” Therefore, the birth of Moshe (whose role is to bring Torah into the world, and thereby bring eternity in the world) “atones for” and nullifies the effect of the “day of death.” This idea that birth nullifies death was seen visibly in the case of Moshe (one of the unique individuals whom the Sages tell us “did not die”) because at the moment of his birth, “the entire house became filled with light” (the light of Torah), showing that his very essence is Torah (eternity). Therefore Moshe inherently “lives and endures” in “his offspring who are alive,” through those ordained one from the other going back to Moshe Rabbeinu and through the Nesi’im in every generation. Accordingly, we can also understand why the miracle of Purim – when “they upheld what they had already accepted” – occurred specifically in the month of Adar, the month of Moshe’s birth.Excerpt from sichah of Purim 5719 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=24-02-2026 לזכות שניאור זלמן הכהן בן רוזה חנה שי' ליום ההולדת שלו ז' אדר – לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובותנדבת אביו ר' ‏אברהם הכהן שי'‏

He said: The lot has fallen for me in the month that Moshe died…” The reason he rejoiced when the lot fell on the month of Adar, rather than Menachem-Av (the month when “the troubles were doubled” including the sin of the golden calf and the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash) is as follows: Haman knew that the Jewish people were going to daven to Hashem to annul the decree. Therefore, he rejoiced when the lot fell on Adar because in Adar we find that Moshe davened at length to annul the decree (of his death on 7 Adar), yet his tefillah did not succeed. This is what the Gemara means when it says “but he did not know that on the 7th of Adar he died, and on the 7th of Adar he was born.” Rashi explains that “The birth is worthy to atone for the death,” but seemingly, the opposite is true – death undoes the effect of birth? The answer is that Moshe’s birth canceled the effect of his death because when he was born, “the entire house became filled with light” – the light of Torah,” which transcends the limitations of time and space. This connection is achieved through Torah study, which unites a person with the intellect of Torah –Toras Moshe – and therefore with Moshe himself. It is understood that when one learns Torah together with Moshe, his comprehension and grasp of Torah are elevated beyond all measure, and this is heightened even more when one learns Torah in the manner described in Torah itself: “Whoever repeats a teaching in the name of the one who said it should view himself as if the one who said it is standing before him.” One must also make an effort to bring others into Torah learning, including the simplest Jews. And in fact, when it comes to the Written Torah (Toras Moshe), the connection of even the simplest Jew (who “does not know what he is saying”) is exactly the same as Moshe’s; he too is obligated to recite the blessing over the Torah on the verses that he learns or (at least) hears. And someone who tries to excuse himself by saying that he must first teach this simple person the alef-beis – the truth is that this is his alef-beis.Excerpt from sichah of 7 Adar 5745 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=22-02-2026
