This sicha is based off of the possuk "You must not place an obstacle before a blind person" If this instruction were meant to be taken literally, it would be superfluous, since the laws regarding personal damages have already been laid down in parashas Mishpatim. It also cannot only be meant to refer to giving bad advice to someone who is “blind” and unaware or ignorant in a certain area, since that, too, is covered in the prohibition against causing damage. Rather, this verse forbids giving sound advice with ulterior motives. For example, you may not tell a naïve person to sell his field and buy a donkey so that you can then buy his field. Even if this advice is actually advantageous for the “blind” person, it is still prohibited on account of the motivation of the advisor. The Torah is teaching us the proper approach towards helping others. In order to help another yid, we must rid ourselves of any self-oriented motivation, focusing instead solely on the needs of the other person. This gives us a powerful message about Ahavas Yisroel - how far we should go for the well being of a fellow yid. The goal is not only about the other's "good" results, but that in the process, you were doing it only to help him, and not at all with your own agenda. Try to put yourself completely in their place. And only when you do that are you able to avoid subjectivity. When you really feel like your fellow yid is YOU, you have true unity with him, then you will be fully invested in him as if you would be in yourself. As a spouse, parent, shlucha, mechanech, doing chessed for others - remember this mitzvah and put ourselves and our own agenda aside, and not guide someone for our own reason - this is the epitome of v'ahavta lrayacha kamocha.Chelek Chof Zayin pg 141-148

57. Emor: Highlight Zchusim, Shlomis bas Divri

Parshas Emor, Likkutei Sichos lamed zayin, page 67 This sicha dives into Torah's mention of Shlomis bas Divri and her illicit relationship with an Egyptian man. Rashi tells us this is mentioned to praise the yidden that this was the only time this happened, and that there were no arayos within the yidden at this time. But still, why would Torah use this negative instance to highlight a positive praise of the yidden? This can be compared to someone doing true teshuva - a past negative now becomes like a merit. Something negative can happen but when that is a growth point, a springboard for positive growth & action, then the negative thing takes on positive purpose. In todays time this is a way that we can even elevate shalosh klipas hatamayus. If a person does such great teshuva that his past actions become now true zchusim, then this elevates the past klipah. There is no such thing as a lost case. We are in golus, people make mistakes, so then what? We dont give up, we use it a springboard for teshuva, and this uplifts the past. Looking back, there is purpose for the difficult or negative things someone may end up involved in - moving forward, we use it to grow even closer to Hashem, even more kedusha. And when we look at someone else, we dont write them off, our job is to highlight the good, take that persons negative story and highlight the zchusim in it.

We are celebrating the Rebbe & Rebbetzins 90th Wedding Anniversary! In this Sicha we learn about the Teshuva accomplished by a wedding, based off the wedding of Esav to Yishmae'ls daughter. Like Yom Kippur, a wedding brings Kaparah through either a) the marriage itself b) the wedding inspires the person to do Teshuva or c) the specialness of the Mitzvah/Moment motivates you. The Torah uses Esav's wedding to teach us about Teshuva - Esav is not perfect by any means, but he is a Yid and the wedding sparks our neshamos, all of us - no matter our level. We can use the koach of 14 Kislev to apply this to us in our daily avodah. Marriage between man & woman has a purpose of Peru Urevu. Marriage of Hashem and Yidden has a purpose of Torah, Mitzvos. When you teach someone to do a mitzvah, mekarev another with coming closer to Torah, Mitzvos or Yidden, these are peiros of peru urevu. We live now in disorderly times, the world is crazy - if something comes your way - just grab it! (ie Dorm Food Mentality). "A chassid is like a soccer player, if the ball comes your way, you gotta kick it!" We have to save neshamos! I commit. Hashem kicks in. My commitment = wedding day. This commitment = uplifts, give koach, enables me to be more committed. This brings a cycle of Koach! But I might think: what about me, im not great enough..im really low - your past doesnt matter (Esav)! I make it my business to commit to Hashems work and the Rebbes directives of doing my shlichus, and Hashem will uplift and empower! And this will bring about the complete marriage between Hashem & the Yidden with Moshiach!

Today one of my students shared a story abt the group that was brought after the Chernobyl disaster to kfar Chabad. The organizers were concerned abt a huge group of girls that came with their own clothing. Should they have standards of tznius? The Rebbe answered that the standard should be high to the level of the community. But they should buy the girls really nice clothing. Thought that was a nice example of this type of chinuch. Going for the high standard but making it something that works for this child."

With gratitude to Etty & Mrs. Shapiro for making Chassidus so accessible to women, bringing Moshiach now! *A quick and smooth Refuah sheleima for Yehuda Leib ben Manya, we are all davening for you!Yaakov asked Yosef not to leave him in Mitzrayim, and Yosef promised he wouldn’t. Then Yaakov said, “Swear to me,” and Yosef made a shvua. Why both a promise and a shvua? A promise means “I’ll do it when I can,” but a shvua makes it front and center - something you live with constantly. On a deeper level, a shvua means commitment beyond logic: even if it doesn’t make sense, I’ll still do it. Yosef’s mission was to bring Hashem into the golus and uplift it. He could have reasoned that Yaakov - with all his holiness - should stay in Mitzrayim to help elevate it. But Yaakov said no - “Swear to me you’ll take me out.” Yaakov’s role was to remain above the golus, like the person standing outside a cave holding the rope to lift the one inside. Yosef and Yaakov represent two roles: Yosef transforms the darkness from within; Yaakov stays above and pulls us toward Geulah.Our takeaway: In our own “golus moments,” be a Yosef - bring Hashem into whatever you’re facing and ask, “What does Hashem want from me here?” But also be a Yaakov - never get comfortable in the darkness. Stay mindful, keep striving, and cry out, “Hashem, lift me up out of this golus!”

Chelek Tes vov. Pg 331In the story of Yehuda and Tamar, Tamar asks for Yehuda’s signet ring, cloak, and staff, items that marked his unique identity. The Rebbe explains that the ring with its seal reflects a deep truth: the ring represents the natural world,, while the seal represents Shabbos/above nature- the awareness that all of nature belongs to Hashem. The seal is not separate from the ring; it’s part of it and transforms the whole ring into something marked by its owner. So too, our everyday, natural life must be permeated with the “seal” of mesiras nefesh—the mark of miracles and total connection to Hashem. That’s why marriage is done with a ring, learned from Yehuda and Tamar, because marriage itself blends the natural and the infinite, bringing Hashem’s presence into the cycle of life. When we live with that awareness, our ordinary days become miraculous, our homes reflect Hashem’s infinity, and we help bring the world to its ultimate marriage - the revelation of Moshiach.
