This was not, chas v’shalom, an appeal for money; it was a matter of “Give me the soul” – the point being to see whether a person had danced and gone beyond his own measurements and limitations, together with his money. Therfore, it is understood that it applied only to those who made their resolution during those moments, at the conclusion and culmination of the Simchas Torah farbrengen, with the special inspiration of the niggun sung at that time etc. Similarly, it is understood that this did not apply to institutions etc. Therefore, those who made their resolution after those moments had passed (when the Torah’s rules and limitations regarding the mitzvah of tzedakah are in effect) – should not send money now, and those who have already sent it should take it back; the money will only cause confusion. It is not a matter of being angry, chas v’shalom, but it pains the heart to see that a day like Simchas Torah, and moments like these when one sees a Jew dancing with the Torah did not have a greater effect on them.Excerpt from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos parashas Bereishis 5740 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=02-10-2026 לע"נ ארי'ה לייב בן אבא הלוי ע"ה ליום היארצייט שלו שמיני עצרת. ת.נ.צ.ב.

This is why Sukkos featured the water libation, which expresses the service of kabbalas ol. While one’s divine service throughout the day must be based on reason and understanding (as emphasized particularly among Torah-learners, who must toil to understand Torah intellectually), nevertheless, the foundation of one’s service must be kabbalas ol; this is why the wine libation took place both in the morning and in the evening, whereas the water libation took place only in the morning (at the start and foundation of the day). This is also why the Tzedukim, who insisted on following reason alone, did not accept the water libation – because based on reason, there is no place for such a service based on kabbalas ol. This is also the meaning of the joy associated with drawing the water: the joy is unlimited because it results from the bittul and attachment to Hashem that are beyond reason and understanding. Therefore, the joy took place specifically during the drawing of the water, which is the preparation for water libation –because the feeling of joy in kabbalas ol is primarily relevant when a Jew prepares himself to accept upon himself the fulfillment of all Hashem’s commands with kabbalas ol.Excerpt from farbrengen of Simchas Beis Hashoevah 5712 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=01-10-2026 לזכות הת' שמואל שי' מוצקין לרגל היכנסו לגיל המצות י"ט-כ' תשרי ה'תשפ"זיהי רצון שיגדל להיות חסיד ירא-שמים ולמדן*לזכות מרת קרן דפנה בת שושנה שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה כ' תשרי – לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

It can be explained that in order to exclude the view of the Tzedukim (who did not agree to the water libation), the Sages instituted that even the drawing of the water, which is only a preparation for the water libation, should be accompanied by exceptional joy. (Similar to the great publicity and public display associated with harvesting the Omer.) This is also why specifically for Simchas Beis Hashoevah a special arrangement was made so that women, too, could come and watch. In terms of Chassidus: Wine (which has taste) represents the service of Hashem based on reason and understanding, while water (which has no taste) represents the service based on kabbalas ol. More specifically: A Jew must serve Hashem with his intellect, but the beginning of his service must be in a manner of kabbalas ol. The preparation and foundation for Matan Torah was when the Jewish people said “We will do” before “We will listen,” contrary to logic, and the same applies to the beginning of every day. Similarly, Rosh Hashanah (the “head of the year”) is characterized by acceptance of the yoke of Heaven, and only afterward comes the service throughout the year based on reason etc. (To be continued.)Sichah from farbrengen of Simchas Beis Hashoevah 5712 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=30-09-2026

ב' חלקים משיחת ליל ד' דחג הסוכות ה'תשמ"ז, לאחרי תפילת ערבית ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=29-09-2026 Synopsis (1) One of the striking differences between Moshe Rabbeinu and the Mitteler Rebbe (today’s Ushpizin) is as follows: While Moshe Rabbeinu received the entire Torah, including Pnimiyus HaTorah (and in fact, at Matan Torah Pnimiyus HaTorah was revealed even more openly than Nigleh), nevertheless, with regard to the Torah studied by the Jewish people throughout the generations, Moshe’s primary role as “Rabbeinu” is in Nigleh. Whereas the Mitteler Rebbe introduced the rechovos hanahar (“wide flow of a river”) in Pnimiyus HaTorah, to the point that even in our generation, when the revelation and dissemination of Pnimiyus HaTorah is especially crucial, the distinctive depth of his maamarim stands out, to the extent that “not every mind can bear it.” (2) The celebration of Simchas Beis Hashoeivah should take place specifically in the public domain, which was created for the Jewish people to transform it into a private domain belonging to the One and Only Master of the world, by rejoicing and singing niggunim in the public domain in Hashem’s honor, to the point that even the non-Jews come to recognize that Hashem “appoints kings, and His is the sovereignty” etc. Every individual must utilize the abilities given to him for this purpose, and extend the joy throughout the entire year.2 excerpts from sichah of the fourth night of Sukkos 5747 – after Maariv For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=29-09-2026

By way of introduction, the better question is seemingly the opposite: Why does the Alter Rebbe say that taking the Daled Minim in the sukkah is merely the “preferred manner”? After all, the halachah is that one must “Reside” in the sukkah the way he lives in his home, and therfore even mundane activities should be performed in the sukkah. Certainly, then, the mitzvah of Daled Minim should be performed in the sukkah as a matter of halachic obligation? But the Alter Rebbe means that in addition to the obligation to take the Daled Minim in the sukkah as part of mitzvah of sukkah, it is also preferrable to do it in the sukkah as part of the mitzvah of Daled Minim itself. (It is this concept whose source is in the Writings of the Arizal.) The lesson is that in order for Torah study (lulav) to be done fully (“in the preferred manner”), it must done specifically be “in the sukkah” – when one’s entire being is encompassed by Hashem’s will, such that the awareness that one is studying Hashem’s wisdom and will encompasses him from head to foot. And this doesn’t just enhance one’s knowledge of his Creator (the mitzvah of sukkah); it also enhances his Torah study itself – (the mitzvah of lulav).3 excerpts from sichah of Simchas Bais Hashoevah 5724 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=28-09-2026

משיחת י"ג תשרי ה'תשל"ה ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=25-09-2026 Synopsis Our Sages taught that the mitzvah of taking the Four Species represents unity among the four types of Jews (with Torah representing “taste” and mitzvos representing “fragrance” etc.). Seemingly, why is it necessary to take the physical Four Species, instead of exhibiting actual unity between the four types of Jews themselves? The answer is that while the purpose of the mitzvah is to unite Jews, it must be expressed physically, within the world, by souls in bodies. Similarly, it is not enough to seclude oneself in a shul or beis midrash where there is nothing but Yiddishkeit; rather, every Jew is charged with the mission of making a dwelling place for Hashem in the lower realms. The same applies to the Mivtzoim we have been discussing recently: the purpose is to inspire physical action within this world, such as Mivtza Tzedakah (taking physical money earned by involvement in permissible mundane affairs and giving it to the poor) and lighting Shabbos candles (lighting a candle that physically illuminates the home etc).Excerpt from sichah of 13 Tishrei 5735 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=25-09-2026

As for those who “seek a pretext” and ask why preparations should be made to provide for a Jew in exile when Moshiach Tzidkeinu will surely have arrived by Sukkos – the answer is, on the contrary: If so, one must utilize the final moments of exile to fulfill the mitzvah of tzedakah, because in the Future Era, when “delicacies will be widely available like dust”, it will no longer be possible to do so. Similarly, through Mivtza Lulav, the Four Species should be made available to all who need assistance in obtaining them etc.Sichah from farbrengen of Wednesday night, parashas Bracha, 13 Tishrei 5747 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=24-09-2026 לזכות שטערנא שרה בת דבורה לאה שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה י"ג תשרילשנת ברכה והצלחה‏, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות*לזכות יוכבד בת בתשבע שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה י"ג מרחשוןלשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

Within the higher level of the lower realm lies the foundation and root of Chochmah, and therefore the Alter Rebbe (Chochmah) stayed in Mezritch (because the Maggid represents the lower level of Kesser).” And he concluded: “Now one must travel to Father (to the Ohel of the Tzemach Tzedek) to hear what is going on.” The explanation is as follows: Kesser, particularly its higher level, is the level of Sovev, which transcends the worlds and encompasses all the worlds equally. And we know that “Daas takes the place of Kesser.” It is well known that the Rebbe Maharash’s approached everything involving communal affairs, dealings with the government and physical matters etc. in an expansive manner. This, then, is the meaning of his statement that “now” (after explaining that the Baal Shem Tov represents Kesser, which found expression in “Baal Shemske conduct,” and that the Tzemach Tzedek represents Daas, which takes the place of Kesser), “I (the Rebbe Maharash) must travel to Father (the Tzemach Tzedek) to hear what is going on” regarding communal affairs and government matters in this physical world. To the point that (for him, at least) it is openly evident that every detail of his life is permeated with the Yechidah. This is illustrated by the story of Chassidim in Russia who were walking down the street after a Chassidic farbrengen at which they had discussed bittul. A policeman called out to them, “Who goes there?” and one of the Chassidim replied, “Bittul goes!” The lesson is that the Yechidah is revealed when it evident in everything one does, not only when he says Modim etc., but even when he eats and drinks etc., that the Yechidah is doing it.2 excerpts from sichah of Wednesday, parashas Noach, 30 Tishrei 5742 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=22-09-2026 לזכות סימא בת חנה ליבא שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה י"א תשרי – לשנת ברכה והצלחה ואריכות ימים ושנים טובותנדבת משפחתה שי'

The answer is that the emphasis here is that the fact that “I live” should extend “l’olam,” meaning: (a) It should extend “into the world,” such that the Shechinah should descend and see the distress of the Jewish people (“When they were exiled to Edom, the Shechinah went with them”), and this requires an oath. (b) L’olam also denotes time, meaning: because the service of the Jewish people in exile (when they are not ashamed before the scoffers etc.) is so great, the exile could have continued on and on, and therefore an oath is required so that the Redemption will not be delayed chas v’shalom. (As the Rebbe, my father-in-law, explained the words in the Haggadah, “Blessed is the Omnipresent, blessed is He…Who calculated the end in order to do…” – we thank Hashem for redeeming the Jewish people at the very moment the appointed end arrived, despite the tremendous pleasure He derived from their service in exile.) And all this will happen in such a way that “He will appease His land and His people” – not kaparah in the sense of atonement (because after the suffering of exile the Jewish people do not require atonement in the literal sense), but rather, as Rashi explains, “an expression of appeasement and conciliation.”3 excerpts from sichah of 6 Tishrei 5736 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=18-09-2026

Although all three are relevant and pertain to men as well, the responsibility for them lies particularly upon women. It is therefore understood that this farbrengen should lead to added force in the three Mivtzoim of Kosher food and drink, Taharas Hamishpachah, and Shabbos and Yom Tov candles. Certainly, everything that has been said in the past regarding the importance of these Mivtzoim will suffice to inspire everyone to increase their efforts many times over – especially in actual deed – in these matters.4 excerpts from sichah of 6 Tishrei 5736 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=17-09-2026

ועליו רק לעשות את ה"כלי" כדי שענין זה יפעל פעולתו‏.‏ב' חלקים מהתוועדות ו' תשרי ה'תשל"ח ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=16-09-2026 Synopsis (1) Regarding the Ten Days of Teshuvah, the Rambam writes (in Hilchos Teshuvah): “The entire House of Israel is accustomed to increase in tzedakah and good deeds and to engage in mitzvos from Rosh Hashanah until Yom Kippur more than throughout the entire year” – he specifies tzedakah in particular, even though it is already included in “mitzvos” etc. Although it is surprising that this does not appear in the Tur and Shulchan Aruch (and therefore the Alter Rebbe does not cite it in his Shulchan Aruch either), despite the fact that they do cite a number of practices associated with the Ten Days of Teshuvah, and they do generally cite from the Rambam etc. – nevertheless, in practice, since the Rambam writes this explicitly, it is clear that this constitutes a directive – it is a “custom of the entire House of Israel.” (2) The significance of the Ten Days of Teshuvah should be explained to every Jew; in the words of our Rebbeim, it is a time of “the luminary (Hashem) drawing close to the spark (the soul),” and “the revelation of the luminary to the spark”– during these days there is no need to toil to “find” Hashem, etc.; rather, Hashem is close to and right beside every Jew. One need only make the proper vessel so that the closeness should have its effect.2 excerpts from farbrengen of 6 Tishrei 5738 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=16-09-2026

As I have already said in the past, because of the many preoccupations during this time of year, time does not permit answering everyone individually; to know how to conduct oneself, one should connect with the “actual part of G-d from above” within their heart, through Torah and mitzvos, and Hashem will illuminate the mind and heart. Especially when it comes to matters where I have already expressed my opinion in the past. For example: Students ask where they should continue their studies – this is a question for the administration of the institution in which they are studying. Those who ask about traveling here from Eretz Yisrael – if there is a doubt, they should remain in Eretz Yisrael; if one wishes to proceed in a certain way, he should ask a practicing rav; and certainly one should not go into debt for the trip.Excerpt from sichah of 6 Tishrei 5742 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=15-09-2026

Seemingly, the theme of Tzom Gedaliah is the very opposite of Rosh Hashanah, which is a time of joy, as the verse states regarding Rosh Hashanah, “…eat fat foods and drink sweet drinks, and send portions to those who have nothing prepared...for the joy of Hashem is your strength,” not to mention the spiritual dimension of this celebration, particularly on a day when Hashem fully accepts the Jewish people’s coronation of Him as their King. But since there is a lesson for Divine service to be learned from everything, there must be a connection between these two themes – in fact, since we are commanded to “ascend in holiness,” it follows that Tzom Gedaliah must represent an ascent beyond the month of Elul, the days of Selichos, Erev Rosh Hashanah, and even Rosh Hashanah itself. The explanation is as follows: On Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish people willingly accepted upon themselves Hashem’s sovereignty. On Tzom Gedaliah, however, because of the tremendous tragedy involving Gedaliah (which was even more severe than the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash) a Jew is granted the power, through the service of teshuvah, to perfect and elevate all the generations that preceded him, and in such a way that even the undesirable matters are transformed into actual merits.2 excerpts from sichah of Tzom Gedaliah 5741 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=14-09-2026 לע"נ הרה"ח הרה"ת הר"ר שניאור זלמן ב"ר נתן ע"ה גורארי'ליום היארצייט שלו יום א' דראש השנהת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

Although it is not our custom to recite it, nevertheless, a “name has significance”: The bond formed by a covenant transcends intellect and is not subject to change – a quality that must be reflected in our own connection with Hashem as well. May it be Hashem’s will that the very “Remembrance of the covenant of Avraham” bring this quality to practical expression, already on the first day of Rosh Hashanah (which this year falls on Shabbos, when the spiritual effect usually caused by shofar is accomplished by the sanctity of Shabbos itself) so that immediately after the time when the shofar would have been sounded, we merit the promise that “it becomes rich at its end,” in the form of a good and sweet year with children, life, and sustenance in abundance. (2) Chamishi of parashas Haazinu concludes with the words “וכפר אדמתו עמו”, which means “…He will appease His land and His people” (according to Rashi, who provides the plain meaning of the verse). As Rashi writes: “וכפר – Denotes reconciliation and appeasement…When His people are comforted, His land is also comforted. Similarly, it says: ‘G-d, You have appeased Your land’; and how have You appeased Your land? ‘You have brought back the exiles of Jacob.’” Since the Jewish people are Hashem’s people, they deserve all good things in a manner of reconciliation and appeasement; and may it be His will that we depart from the outgoing year with joy, including “everlasting joy upon their heads” with the coming of Moshiach speedily in our days. א' השיחות דהתוועדות שמחת בית השואבה ה'תשכ"ג ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=09-09-2026 Synopsis There is an opinion in the Gemara that the law that the shofar is not sounded when Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbos is derived from the verse, “…a day of rest, a remembrance of the shofar blast,” meaning that we do not “actually sound the shofar, but recite verses about shofar blasts.” Based on this opinion, when Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbos, the Nusach of davening on Rosh Hashanah carries a Biblical obligation. (Although the Gemara ultimately concludes that the verse serves only as an asmachta, nevertheless, “These and those are the words of the living G-d.”) Here we see the greatness of Torah (which has particular relevance at this farbrengen, which is designated for the yeshivah students): although the sanctity of Shabbos is so great that it accomplishes what ordinarily is accomplished by sounding the shofar (which is why sounding the shofar is not required when Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbos, as explained in Chassidus), nevertheless Shabbos cannot accomplish the effect produced by reciting the verses of Shofaros (and therefore the obligation remains even on Shabbos). May it be Hashem’s will that the students study Torah for the reason that it is Hashem’s Torah, and in such a way that “study leads to action” etc.Sichah of Simchas Beis Hashoevah farbrengen 5723 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=09-09-2026 לע"נ הרב ישראל יואל ב"ר פינחס הכהן ע"ה סוסובר ליום היארצייט שלו כ"ז אלול. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.נדבת בנו ר' נחום הכהן שי' סוסובר

The Days of Selichos must be concluded with great joy, which breaks through all barriers, and brings abundance in all matters and total victory over the yetzer-hara etc. (2) On the third day of Selichos, the Rebbeim would deliver a maamar in private to their eventual successor, and they instructed them to keep it a secret, until the Rebbe Rashab told his son, the Rebbe, my father-in-law, to keep it a secret until such time as he instructed him to reveal it. The Rebbe ultimately revealed it in a Reshimah in the year 5705, meaning his father instructed him to reveal it when the Rebbe was already in the United States; we can therefore understand the preciousness of the matter etc. When recounting this in the Reshimah, the Rebbe, my father-in-law lists all the Rebbeim by name. It can be explained that the purpose was to explicitly invoke the merit of them all in the days before Rosh Hashanah. (3) We should enter the new year with dancing and true, inner joy. חלק ממאמר ד"ה באתי לגני אחותי כלה, יו"ד שבט ה'תשי"ד ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=07-09-2026 Synopsis In the verse (in sheini of parashas Haazinu), “Because Hashem’s portion is His people; Yaakov, the rope of His inheritance,” there are two levels: (a) “Yaakov is the rope of His inheritance” refers to the rope connecting a Jew to his root and source Above, which is woven from 613 strands, meaning the 613 faculties of the soul (corresponding to the 248 limbs and 365 sinews of the body) upon which the fulfillment of the 613 mitzvos depend. The spirit of folly is able to obscure this connection, both the individual strands and the overall connection. (b) On a higher level, “Hashem’s portion is His people,” meaning they are a part of His Essence (through which one grasps the Essence in its entirety). This connection exists within every Jew, as expressed in the term “His people” (amo), which connotes “dimmed coals” (gechalim omemos), and in the expression “There is no king without a people,” where the people consists of individuals separate and distinct from the king. In terms of Divine service: the spirit of folly can obscure only the parts of a person that belong to seder hishtalshelus (service based on reason and understanding etc.), but not that which transcends seder hishtalshelus – the service stemming from the Yechidah (as expressed when a Jew faces a test of faith).Excerpt from Maamar Basi L’Gani, 10 Shevat 5714 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=07-09-2026

The opening words of Selichos are, “Yours, Hashem, is the tzedakah.” Similarly, the way to prepare for Selichos is through tzedakah, and then the verse will be fulfilled, “Before they call out, I will answer,” so that one can proceed to Selichos with joy, like the well-known story of Chassidim in Lubavitch who came to Selichos “swaying” after farbrenging for hours. (It is similar to the teaching in the Gemara that the proper way to prepare for Torah study in such a way that one’s “lips drip with bitterness” is to begin by saying something humorous.) Similarly, the overall preparation for the Days of Awe should be carried out with great joy, all the more so by bringing joy to others by providing for their Yom Tov needs.2 excerpts from sichah of 18 Elul 5741 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=06-09-2026 לזכות ביילא חוה בת רוזה חנה שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה כ"ג אלול – לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובותנדבת אבי' ר' ‏אברהם הכהן שי'‏*לזכות חנה אסתר בת שושנה שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה כ"ג אלול - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

חלק ממאמר ד"ה אתם נצבים, מוצאי ש"פ נצבים ה'תשל"ח ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=04-09-2026 Synopsis The verse states (at the beginning of parashas Nitzavim), “You are standing today, all of you, before Hashem your G-d, the heads of your tribes…your water-drawer….” The Alter Rebbe explains in Likkutei Torah that the word “today” refers to Rosh Hashanah, when the Jewish people unite to crown Hashem as. Then, as the verse continues, they “enter a covenant with Hashem your G-d…,” whereby they become one with Hashem, but it begins with Hashem being crowned as King by the Jewish people. The reason it is specifically the Jewish people that can awaken Hashem’s desire to be King is because, as the verse continues, they are “His people” (amo), meaning they are “with Him” (imo) and close to Him. When they stand before Hashem, it is in the manner of Nitzavim – meaning they stand firmly. As the Tzemach Tzedek explains, “nitzav” connotes a leader, prince, or officer: every Jew is a prince (sar), and the Jewish are called Yisroel “because you have striven (sarisa) with an angel of G-d and with men, and you have prevailed.” The purpose of their descent into this physical world is for the sake of the subsequent ascent after they “have prevailed” over nature (whose numerical value is the same as the Name Elokim). In this way the Jewish people also cause that “Behold, Hashem stands (nitzvav) over him” – over every Jew. This is accomplished when “all of you,” from “the heads of your tribes” down to “your woodcutters and your water-drawers” stand together as one, without any distinction between beginning or end. This is also the meaning of the verse “He was a King in ‘Yeshurun,’” which connotes a song (shir) and a circle – because it specifically in this way that they crown Hashem as King, and as a result they are inscribed and sealed for good, physically and spiritually etc.Excerpt from Maamar Atem Nitzavim, Motzaei Shabbos Parashas Nitzavim 5738. ב' חלקים מהתוועדות ח"י אלול ה'תשל"ז ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=03-09-2026 Synopsis Our earlier discussion about increasing in Torah study also applies to the Tishrei guests: Torah classes should be arranged at least twice a day for the study of practical halachah and for Torah study for its own sake, which will also inspire the locals to increase their own Torah study (because they will see that if people who are away from the comfort of home can devote time to learning, they can surely do so as well), and fortunate is the lot of all who participate. The time for Torah study is the entire year, especially during the month of Elul, and especially during the last twelve days of the month (each of which corresponds to one month of the outgoing year). This is the place to express appreciation for those organizing hospitality for the guests and for doing it pleasantly, peacefully, and with dignity, and surely others will assist them. Torah study is also for women and girls – and may blessing come upon all who see to it that not a day passes without regular Torah classes for them as well.2 excerpts from farbrengen of 18 Elul 5737 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=03-09-2026

Here we see how important free choice is to Hashem: in order to preserve it, He lowered the Torah – His hidden treasure and delight – so that it can be understood even by a non-Jew, and even by someone who acts contrary to His will. Conversely, when a person chooses to do something undesirable, chas v’shalom (or even something merely permissible), he should realize that, as the Alter Rebbe writes in Tanya, it is akin to taking Hashem’s most precious and exalted possession and bringing it into a bathroom Rachmana litzlan (or at least into mundane matters that have no real value). And the excuse of the yetzer hara that it is only a one-time action does nothing to justify the tremendous wrong that a person is doing to himself.2 excerpts from sichah of 12 Tammuz 5740 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=02-09-2026 לזכות ר' אלעזר מאיר הלוי בן זהבה ומרת רחל בינה בת חי'ה מלכה שיחיו פיש לכבוד יובל חתונתם השלושים כ' אלול ה'תשפ"ולברכה והצלחה בכל הענינים בגשמיות וברוחניותנדבת ר' שמחה שי' פיש

משיחת יום ב' פ' נצבים-וילך, ח"י אלול ה'תשמ"ו ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=01-09-2026 Synopsis In the verse “Hashem your G-d will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring” (in revi’i of parashas Nitzavim), the initial letters of the words “your heart and the heart of” (את לבבך ואת לבב) spell the word Elul. The acronym begins with the word es (rather than the first part of the verse, “Hashem your G-d will circumcise”) because es connotes bittul, which is the goal of the service of Elul – to attain a bittul to Hashem even when one is occupied with matters of the “field.” What matters here is not so much how one arrives at this state of bittul (“And Hashem will circumcise”), but the fact that one stands in a state of bittul. The bittul must then be circulated to all the faculties of the soul (which is done through “your heart,” which circulates the blood to the entire body), and then into the heart of everything in a person’s environment (“and the heart of”). And Chai Elul infuses this service with vitality.Excerpt from sichah of Monday, parashas Nitzavim-Vayelech, 18 Elul 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=01-09-2026 לע"נ הרה"ח ר' יוסף חיים הכהן בן הרה"ח ר' חנוך העניך הכהן ע"ה ראזענפעלד ליום היארצייט שלו י"ט אלול. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.נדבת בנו הרב מנחם מענדל הכהן שי' ראזענפעלד

Therefore, because the Nasi of our generation publicized the fact that Chai Elul is the birthday of the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe (who were both Nesi’im) it is clear that their teachings are relevant for the entire generation, in such a way that the wellsprings themselves spread outward. While it is true that ultimately “None will remain banished from Him,” nevertheless, since the Jewish people are “a wise and understanding people,” they surely will not wait until that time to do what is required of them. Rather, because they know it is something positive and that this is the purpose of their creation, they will do it with joy and gladness of heart – especially in the month of Elul, when the King is in the field and when He receives them all with a pleasant countenance etc.2 excerpts from sichah of Sunday night, parashas Nitzavim-Vayelech 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=31-08-2026 לזכות ר' משה הענאך בן דינה שי' לעווין לרגל יום ההולדת שלו ח"י אלוללשנת ברכה והצלחה‏, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות*לע"נ ר' ישראל קלמן ב"ר צבי ע"ה ליום היארצייט שלו ח"י אלול. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

The lesson from the combined parashyios of Nitzavim-Vayelech is as follows: Nitzavim means “standing firm,” meaning the service of strengthening oneself in a particular area, while Veyelech means movement, meaning the service of constantly advancing to new areas. Ordinarily, one must first serve in the manner of Nitzavim, and only then can he proceed to Vayelech. But when Nitzavim and Vayelech are read together, we are empowered to do both together, and in such a way that this form of service itself is done in a manner of continuous ascent.Excerpt from sichah of Sunday night, parashas Nitzavim-Vayelech, 18 Elul 5749 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=30-08-2026 לע"נ הרה"ח התמים ר' מאיר ב"ר חיים שניאור זלמן ע"ה איטקיןליום היארצייט שלו י"ז אלול. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.נדבת בני משפחתו שיחיו

(ורש"י ותוס' חולקים אם כדי להיות ראוי להוראה צריך גם שלימות ההבנה בפועל בתורה שקיבל מרבו וכו'). ומכ"ז מובן, שכל פעם שנתחדש מציאות חדשה, כמו ענין הנישואין, מתחיל מספר של מ' שנה וכו'. משיחת י"ט כסלו ה'תשכ"ט ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=28-08-2026 Synopsis The Gemara states (Sotah 22b and Avodah Zarah 19b) that a person does not become fit to render halachic rulings until the age of forty. Rashi explains (in Avodah Zarah) that this means forty years from birth, based on the Mishnah in Pirkei Avos: “Forty is the age for understanding” because that is when a person’s understanding in Torah becomes fully developed. But Tosafos (in Sotah) explains that the Gemara means forty years from when he began learning, not from when he was born, based on the Gemara’s statement in Avodah Zarah that “A person does not fully understand his teacher’s opinion until after forty years” (meaning forty years of study, like the forty years from the Giving of the Torah until Moshe said, “Hashem has not given you a heart to know until this day…”). It can be explained that these two teachings (upon which Rashi and Tosafos base themselves) do not contradict one another: The Mishna’s statement, “Forty is the age for understanding” refers to the time when the core of a person’s intellectual capacity becomes fully developed, and likewise, it takes forty years to fully understand the core intellectual concept he received from his teacher. But Rashi and Tosafos disagree as to whether, in order to be fit to render halachic rulings, one must also attain complete practical understanding of the teaching he received from his teacher. Based on all this it follows that whenever one enters a stage wherein he becomes a new entity (such as marriage etc.), a new count of forty years begins etc.Excerpt from sichah of 19 Kislev 5729 (marking the Rebbe’s and Rebbetzin’s 40th wedding anniversary) For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=28-08-2026 לע”נ מרת חי' איידל בת ר' אברהם דוד ע"ה לעבאוויטש ליום היארצייט שלה ט"ו אלול. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.נדבת משפחתה שי'‏*לזכות מרת דבורה לאה בת אסתר שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה ט"ו אלול - לשנת ברכה והצלחה‏, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

The lesson is as follows: As discussed many times, it is imperative to relate to other Jews with the “right hand that draws near,” and certainly during the month of Elul, the month of mercy. But there are those who (because of the nature of their animal soul, or because they were raised without the tenderness and warmth of a mother etc.) run away from blessings – they shout at other Jews and get angry with them, to the extent that even in the month of Elul (when the King is in the field and He “receives them all with a pleasant countenance and shows a smiling face to them all”) they are still unable to bring themselves to bless Jews. (Instead of excelling in the mitzvah to “Love your fellow like yourself,” they excel in the mitzvah, “You must surely rebuke…”) But the Torah promises such a person that the blessings will pursue him and overtake him, and have such an effect upon him that he will ultimately begin to bless Jews loudly and out of love. We only need to create the proper vessel for it, first and foremost by studying Torah in the unique manner introduced by Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim, where Nigleh and Chassidus are studied in the same Yeshiva and as one Torah. Meaning, even when one studies Nigleh, it should be evident that one “Knows the G-d of his father and serves Him with a whole heart.” This is also the connection to the 15th day of the month, when “the moon is in its complete state”: The ultimate union between Nigleh and Chassidus (respectively the body and soul of Torah) will be realized in the Future Redemption, when the Jewish people itself will attain a state of ultimate perfection.Excerpt from sichah of 13 Elul 5742 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=26-08-2026 לע"נ ר' מנחם ב"ר ארי' לייב ע"ה דבורקן ליום היארצייט שלו י"ג אלול. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

This can be compared to Moshe Rabbeinu talking to Pharaoh in Egypt: Even when Moshe was talking to Pharoah, who embodied the lowest level of kelipah, the light of Atzilus shone within Moshe in a revealed manner, and “The Shechinah spoke from within his throat.”Excerpt from sichah of 1st day of Rosh Chodesh MarCheshvan 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=25-08-2026 לזכות פריידא ברכה בת שיינא שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה י"ב אלוללשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות*לזכות ר' אהרן בן גיטל לאה שי' ליום ההולדת שלו הרוחני י"ב אלול

The answer is that this mitzvah contains a unique element: One may keep the mitzvos by rote, in which case a mitzvah has no effect on the person, and he remains in his previous state. But the mitzvah to “walk in His ways” teaches us that one must truly advance, meaning beyond all connection to one’s previous state, which happens when one keeps the mitzvos because they are Hashem’s command. Because the only way a created, finite being can advance to a level infinitely higher than his previous level is by connecting (through the Rebbe, the intermediary who connects) to Hashem’s infinite Essence (“His ways”).2 excerpts from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos parashas Beshalach (Shabbos Shira), 11 Shevat 5721 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=24-08-2026

ג' חלקים משיחת י' אלול ה'תנש"א ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=23-08-2026 Synopsis (a) Rashi explains that the verse, “If you go out to war against your enemies…” refers to an optional war. This is why it says “If you go out to war” – there is a doubt whether the war will happen because on the contrary, as an only child to Hashem, a Jew by nature has no connection to war whatsoever. This is also why it says “…go out to war,” because for a Jew to wage war requires him to leave his natural state. While from time to time Hashem desires that they do go out to war, when they do then it is “above your enemy.” (b) The second name of the Nasi of our generation is Yitzchok, which connotes laughter and joy. Although our Sages taught, “It is forbidden for a person to fill his mouth with laughter in this world, as the verse states, “Then (אז) [in the future era] our mouths will be filled with laughter,’” nevertheless, the Nasi of our generation represents “Then,” because his is the eighth generation (א+ז=8), and he was the Moshiach of our generation, and therefore he demanded joy from the Chassidim etc.3 excerpts from sichah of 10 Elul 5751 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=23-08-2026

ב' חלקים משיחת יו"ד שבט ה'תשח"י ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=21-08-2026 Synopsis One explanation of why the obligation to wipe out Amalek does not apply in the present era is because the obligation applies only when Amalek exists as a nation. Therefore, the obligation no longer applies after Sancheriv mixed up all the nations (even if it is known that a particular individual is of Amalekite descent). Based on this we can understand how Rabbi Yehoshua told the Ammonite convert that he was permitted to marry into the Jewish people, even though that particular individual might have known with certainty that he descended from Ammon – because once Amon as a whole ceased to exist as a nation, the restrictions applicable to that nation no longer take effect. The lesson in a person’s Divine service is as follows: The defining characteristic of Amalek is coldness toward Torah and mitzvos, as the verse states, “…asher karcha baderech…” which also means “…who cooled you off on the way…”. This coldness of Amalek is the root and source of everything undesirable, and it must be wiped out. However, this applies only when Amalek “exists as a nation,” meaning when a person is totally spiritually frozen; in such a case he must conduct himself totally on the opposite extreme, leaving no coldness remaining at all. But if a person is cold in one particular area, and warm in other areas, he does not need to eradicate the quality of coldness entirely; rather, he must redirected the coldness to its proper place – coldness toward worldly matters etc.2 excerpts from sichah of 10 Shevat 5718 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=21-08-2026 לע”נ ר' נח ב"ר יעקב דוד הכהן ע"ה ליום היארצייט שלו ח' אלול. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

משיחת יום ד' פ' נצבים-וילך, כ' אלול ה'תשכ"ט, להעסקניות ("ליידיס אָקזילערי") דהמוסדות "תומכי תמימים" ו"בית רבקה" ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=20-08-2026 Synopsis The Alter Rebbe illustrates the unique quality of the month of Elul with the parable of a king who leaves his royal palace and goes out to the field, where he receives everyone with a pleasant countenance and where everyone can ask him for whatever they desire. He emphasizes that afterward, the people follow the king back to the city, but once the king reaches the palace, only select individuals can obtain an audience with him, and only after extensive preparation etc. Similarly, Elul is the one opportunity in the year when every Jew – even if one feels that until a moment ago he was still in the “field” and has not yet internalized the fact that it is the month of Elul – can stand face to face with Hashem and ask Him for a good year, and Hashem receives them with a pleasant countenance and smiling face and accepts their requests. Since you are involved in Hashem’s work of spreading Yiddishkeit and supporting educational institutions, etc. – may it be Hashem’s will that you be blessed with a good and sweet year, among the entire Jewish people, especially those who are in Eretz HaKodesh, and may we very soon merit the true and complete Redemption through Moshiach Tzidkeinu.Excerpt from sichah of Wednesday, Parashas Nitzavim-Vayelech, 20 Elul 5729 – to the Ladies Auxiliary of Tomchei Temimim and Bais Rivkah For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=20-08-2026 לזכות ר' אברהם יוסף וזוגתו מרת חוה שושנה שיחיו בויארסקי לכבוד יום הנישואין שלהם ז' אלוללברכה והצלחה בכל הענינים ‏בגשמיות וברוחניות

One of the reasons for the prohibition of shaatnez is that wool comes from a living animal, while linen comes from a plant, and they should not be mixed. In terms of a person’s Divine service: There is one mode of service for those on the level of plant life (the beginning of one’s spiritual service), and another for those who have already reached the level of animal life or human life. The prohibition of shaatnez teaches that they should not be mixed; rather, each person must fulfill his service in accordance with his own level. The same applies within a person’s own service: There are some things one must actively perform and draw himself to (the positive mitzvos) and some things from which one must refrain and distance himself (the negative mitzvos), and the two should not be mixed. Despite a common misconception, the prohibition of shaatnez applies even to women, and, based on the Minchas Chinuch, even the prohibition against dressing a child in shaatnez clothing is not merely a part of the general obligation of chinuch, but part of the Biblical law of shaatnez itself.Excerpt from sichah of Tuesday, parashas Ki Seitzei, 1st day of Rosh Chodesh Elul 5744 – to the campers of Gan Yisroel and Camp Emunah For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=18-08-2026 לזכות מרת שיינא בת חנה שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה ה' אלוללשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

And if regarding an easy mitzvah that costs an issar, the Torah says [in sheini of parashas Ki Seitzei]: ‘That it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days,’ how much more so regarding the more demanding mitzvos of the Torah.” Seemingly, it would make sense to allow taking the mother for use as the living bird in the purification process, because that would last only a few moments, after which it would be sent away? The explanation is as follows: Because both mitzvos express compassion (sending away the mother bird and restoring the metzora to his home), when they coincide, human reasoning (which is influenced by the evil-inclination) would dictate giving precedence to showing compassion for a human being (purifying the metzora) over showing compassion for an animal (sending away the mother bird). Therefore, “in order to subdue one’s inclination,” the Torah commands the opposite: “A person may not take the mother bird with the offspring even in order to purify a metzora.” And this explains the connection between the two clauses in the Mishna: Since the first part of the Mishna emphasizes how easy the mitzvah of sending away the mother bird is (because both the mind and heart support it), the Mishnah continues: “And if regarding an easy mitzvah…the Torah says: ‘That it may be well with you and you may prolong your days,’ how much more so regarding the more severe mitzvos of the Torah.”3 excerpts from farbrengen of 20 Menachem-Av 5736 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=17-08-2026 לזכות גולדא בת פריידא שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה ד' אלול - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

ב' חלקים משיחת יום ד' פ' שופטים, ד' אלול ה'תשמ"ה, להתלמידים ולהתלמידות דמחנות קיץ יומיים – "צבאות השם" – שיחיו ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=16-08-2026 Synopsis The Alter Rebbe illustrates the significance of the month of Elul with the parable of a king in the field: “Before he enters the city the townspeople go out to greet him and welcome him in the field…Similarly, by way of analogy, during the month of Elul they go out to receive the light of Hashem’s face,” and “when he goes to the city, they follow after him” until they reach the palace. This idea is emphasized particularly among members of Tzivos Hashem: although, as soldiers in Hashem’s Army, their connection to Hashem is apparent all year long, even in their eating, drinking and sleeping etc. (because they recite a bracha over their food etc.), there is nevertheless a difference between the time spent engaging in Torah and mitzvos, and the time spent eating and drinking. Similarly, although the verse states, “How will Yaakov (the Jewish people, who are compared to the moon) arise, for he is small,” (especially young children, who are small in the literal sense), and although they are in exile (“night”), nevertheless Hashem grants them the strength to illuminate the entire world and to increase in light from day to day. They do this through the “lamp of a mitzvah and light of Torah is light,” including by “appointing judges and officers” at one’s own “gates” to ensure that no undesirable influences enter through them. In this way they inspire other children – even at the other end of the world – to conduct themselves this way, too. Especially during the month of Elul, when “the King is in the field”: Even when the Jewish people are in the “field” of exile because “Tzion is plowed like a field,” Hashem is with them, and “In the light of the King’s countenance there is life.” By carrying out these directives, we merit the fulfillment of the promise that the Jewish people “are destined to be renewed like the moon” – and it will happen now.Excerpt from sichah of Tuesday, parashas Shoftim, 2nd day of Rosh Chodesh Elul 5741 – to the campers of Gan Yisroel and Camp Emunah For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=14-08-2026

This is the unique quality of the revelation of the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy during Elul as compared with their revelation during the rest of the year: in Elul, the revelation relates not only to one’s physical life but also to the life of the soul. Seemingly, being that these are such lofty spiritual levels, how is it possible for every Jew to attain them, especially being that the days of Elul are ordinary weekdays? But the maamar explains that it is specifically during these ordinary weekdays that the King Himself comes to every Jew, even to those who are “in the field,” and whoever desires may approach Him. Moreover, the Torah pleads with, commands, and promises every Jew, even those in the lowly spiritual state of a “desert,” that “From there you will seek Hashem, your G-d, and you will find Him…” – referring to the service of teshuvah.2 excerpts from sichah of Motzaei Shabbos parashas Re’eh, Mevorchim Elul 5739 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=13-08-2026

Moreover, when he comes to the Beis Hamikdash (on a festival) he is allowed to join in the service of the other korbanos during that time (see Rashi). The lesson for the spiritual Sanctuary within every Jew is that when one’s spirit inspires him to undertake a particular form of Divine service – even if that task would ordinarily have been performed by someone else – he is granted the privilege of doing it himself.Excerpt from sichah of Wednesday, second day of Rosh Chodesh Elul 5747 – to summer campers For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=12-08-2026 לע”נ מרת יהודית בת ר' נתן ע"ה פרידמאן, ליום היארצייט שלה כ"ט מנחם-אב. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

And this is a Jew’s mission – to turn every aspect of this world into a true home for Hashem. He empowers us to do so in every place and time; whether on an ordinary weekday or on a day like Yom Kippur, every Jew can bring to fruition the verse, “I will dwell among them” – in a way that resembles the revelation of the Divine Presence in the Holy of Holies on Yom Kippur through the service of the Ketores offered by the Kohen Gadol.2 excerpts from sichah of Monday night, parashas Pinchas, 15 Tammuz 5746 – in Yechidus Klalis for out-of-town visitors For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=11-08-2026

The lesson from the 27th day of the month: The yetzer-hara may try to frighten a Jew by telling him that he is outnumbered by those who don’t follow the Torah or don’t belong to the Jewish people etc. But today’s Tehillim begins: “A Song of ascents. I have called out to Hashem in my distress, and He answered me.” Meaning, even when a Jew is in a state of distress, he must not be discouraged because Hashem is with him, and it is absolutely certain that if one calls, He answers. And this is so certain that it is expressed in a “song” and “ascent” – joyously and rising higher and higher. Similarly, even in the darkness of exile (the greatest possible distress), when we call out by singing Moshiach Now, “He answers us” with the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu.Excerpt from sichah of Monday, parashas Shoftim, 27 Menachem-Av – to Tzivos Hashem For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=10-08-2026 לזכות יוסף יצחק בן רחל לאה שי' שפירא ליום ההולדת שלו כ"ז מנחם-אב – לשנת ברכה והצלחה ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

One must be careful not to speak harshly about Jews chas v’shalom, especially in the month of Elul, when one should judge Jews favorably so that he himself will be judged favorably, especially one who needs Hashem to overlook his conduct of chasing after honor and “pursuing bribes” throughout the year etc. Yet they specifically choose the month of Elul to speak harshly of Jews, taking advantage of an occasion when people gather to be inspired etc. And if one argues that Hashem has assigned him this task of delivering rebuke – he should learn from a story the Tzemach Tzedek writes in Derech Mitzvosecha: Reb Mendel Barer was gifted with oratory skills, and when he traveled to Jewish communities, he would be asked to deliver mussar. But he would agree only on condition that he was paid for it. He explained: Really, there is no basis for rebuking Jews, who are the only child of Hashem. Nevertheless, since he has an obligation to support his family, and Hashem arranged by Hashgacha Pratis that his livelihood should come through delivering musar, he has no choice but to do so. But to wait and look forward to the month of Elul so that one can rebuke other Jews is unheard of.Excerpt from sichah of Sunday, parashas Re’eh, 21 Menachem-Av 5744 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=09-08-2026 לע”נ ר' משה ב"ר ניסן ע"ה ליום היארצייט שלו כ"ה מנחם-אב. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.נדבת בנו ר' ניסן שי' פרידמן

Since “my Beloved is mine” depends upon the first part of the verse, “I am my Beloved’s,” the days leading up to this Shabbos should be utilized properly. The connection between parashas Re’eh (“See…”) and the Redemption is that when Moshiach comes, we will study Torah in a manner seeing, as it is written: “…and your eyes will see your Teacher.” We will conclude by appointing everyone as a shliach for tzedakah, which hastens the Redemption, as the verse states, “Tzion will be redeemed with justice, and her captives with tzedakah.” May it be Hashem’s will that we immediately merit the fulfillment of the verse, “See, I am setting before you today....”Sichah of Thursday night, 24 Menachem-Av 5749 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=07-08-2026 לזכות חי' שרה בת נינה שתחי' וויינבוים ליום ההולדת שלה כ"ד מנחם-אבלשנת ברכה והצלחה‏, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות*לזכות מרת שושנה בת גיטל שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה כ"ד מנחם-אב - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות

When the Jewish people are united, even if their spiritual state is not as it should be, they are victorious in battle, both in physical battle and in the battle against the yetzer hara, and moreover, their victory is such that the whole possibility of war is precluded from the outset. This Time of Favor is also associated with the preparation for the month of Elul, when “The King is in the field,” meaning Hashem is close to a Jew even if he is in the spiritual state of a “field,” and Hashem’s closeness causes a fundamental change in one’s overall conduct (as the Alter Rebbe writes in Likkutei Torah on parashas Re’eh).Excerpt from sichah of Thursday, parashas Re’eh, 27 Menachem-Av 5741 (designated a partial fast day) – after Mincha For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=06-08-2026 לע”נ הרה"ח התמים ר' אליעזר דניאל ב"ר שמואל יעקב ע"ה מייערס ליום היארצייט שלו כ"ג מנחם-אב. ת.נ.צ.ב.ה.

משיחת יום ד' דפ' ראה, כ"ב מנחם-אב ה'תשמ"ו, להילדים והילדות דמחנה קיץ "גן ישראל" "ואמונה" שיחיו ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=05-08-2026 Synopsis This gathering is taking place after you have spent time in summer camp, whose simple purpose is for the body to relax and gain additional strength, but whose inner purpose is for the body’s health to impact the soul’s health. Accordingly, after camp, you should increase in Torah and mitzvos etc. The lesson from revi’i of parashas Re’eh is as follows: The theme of Re’eh (“See”) is that every Jew sees that everything he possesses, and everything in the world, exists only because Hashem “places it before you.” This is emphasized in today’s Chumash, which begins with the verse, “You are children of Hashem your G-d”: Every Jew must conduct himself as befitting a child of the King – eating only kosher food (as today’s Chumash goes on to describe) etc. In this way we merit the fulfillment of the verse at the end of the parashah, “All your males must appear before Hashem your G-d in the place that He will choose” – in the third Beis Hamikdash, which will be built speedily in our days.Excerpt from sichah of Wednesday, parashas Re’eh, 22 Menachem-Av 5746, to the campers of Camp Gan Yisroel and Camp Emunah For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=05-08-2026 לזכות החתן אוריאל מאיר בן דבורה בריינדלוהכלה מרת טובה רבקה בת גילה עלקהשיחיו רבנולרגל נישואיהם בשעה טובה ומוצלחתכ"א מנחם-אב ה'תשפ"ונדבת אחיו שי'

(2) A general lesson from the third day of the week, when “It was good” was said twice, is the principle of “good for Heaven and good for mankind”: a Jew must occupy himself with Torah and mitzvos (“good for Heaven”), and also help other Jews around him (“good for mankind”). And a lesson from shelishi of parashas Re’eh in particular, which warns the Jewish people not to imitate the nations surrounding them: Although the Jewish people are “the fewest of all the nations,” they must not learn from the ways of the nations. Hashem placed the Jewish people among the other nations in order for them to reveal the power of their simple faith that “You have chosen us from among all the nations,” and in this way they merit Hashem’s blessings, as well as the respect of the nations, as Hashem has blessed us in this country.Excerpts from sichos of (1) Tuesday, 23 Menachem-Av 5744, and (2) Tuesday, 26 Menachem-Av 5745, to Kollel Tiferes Zekeinim Levi Yitzchok For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=04-08-2026 לזכות ר' שניאור זלמן בן חוה לאה וזוגתו מרת שיינא בת חנה שיחיו ליום הנישואין שלהם ביום כ"א מנחם-אבלברכה והצלחה בכל הענינים לאויוש"ט*לזכות שטערנא שרה בת חי'ה רחל שתחי' ליום ההולדת שלה כ"א מנחם-אבלשנת ברכה והצלחה רבה ומופלגה בכל בגו"ר מתוך בריאות נכונה ומנוחת הנפש והגוףנדבת בעלה ר' חיים ברוך שי' אלבסקי

משיחת יום ב' דפ' ראה, כ' מנחם-אב ה'תשמ"ו ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=03-08-2026 Synopsis Lately we have witnessed shocking things in the world, in the barbaric ways people treat one another (including at times among Jews) etc. This is yet another sign that the time for the coming of Moshiach has already arrived, as the verse states in Daniel regarding the end of days, “Many will be clarified, whitened, and purified, and the wicked will pervert, and all the wicked will not understand, but the wise will understand”: At that time all will see who is wicked and who is “wise,” and this clarity will benefit the wicked, because as long as they have doubts as to whether they have in fact done something wrong, they will not do teshuvah. (Moreover, some Jews have no “doubts” at all – to the contrary, they stubbornly persist in their behavior and encourage other Jews to follow suit.) But because “None will remain banished from Him,” the truth of their behavior will be made clear to all, and when everyone sees who they really are (“They will be clarified and whitened…”), they, too, will see their true state, and this will inspire them to do teshuvah.Excerpt from sichah of Monday, parashas Re’eh, 20 Menachem-Av 5746 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=03-08-2026 לזכות מנחם מענדל בן נחמה דינה שי' ליום ההולדת שלו כ"א מנחם-אב - לשנת ברכה והצלחה, ואריכות ימים ושנים טובות
