When I first wrote this song, almost a year and half ago, our world had just been turned upside down. “Our Story” is the words my heart came to in the wake of the heartbreaking events of October 7th - a time that shook us to our core. But it did more than just shake us. It reminded every single Jew across the globe who we are, where we come from, and how each chapter of our story has ended. Inspired by Bobby Itzkowitz, a holocaust survivor, “Our Story” tells the tale of who we are as the Jewish nation - one that has survived through the impossible, held up by miracles and our faith in Hashem. Today, as the Jewish nation and the people of Israel face yet another chapter of challenge, it feels as though we are reliving history. But the greatest gift is the chapters that have come before us, how they’ve ended, and how we know how our chapter will end too. The energy of strength is a core trait of the Jew, one we must always hold onto; it makes us who we are. We are a people who rise - again and again - with courage, hope, and unrelenting bravery. And so our story has never been one of defeat, but rather, one of unwavering strength, miracles and victory. It’s my deepest hope that this song brings comfort, resilience, and a reminder of who we are: a nation of survivors. May we continue to stand tall, to know, believe, and trust that this chapter will end just like the others - a nation victorious, protected by our Father in Heaven.
